Beaver chewed the willow trees at the bottom of the propery on the Twenty Mile Creek. CNR railway trestle to the north east in the background.
You have the choice in this room of having a king bed or 2 twin beds.
You can stargaze from your pillows and have magical sky views in the early morning through sleepy eyes.
The room looks south towards the Twenty Valley and the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Bruce Trail, Canada's longest and oldest continuous footpath runs along the edge of the escarpment. I am willing to drive hikers to the start of their hike so that they can hike to their car and drive back at the end of the day.
We have 2 more bedrooms that will accommodate 5 more people. The Escarpment Room and the Red Squirrel Room.
We are on the Twenty Mile Creek and there is a bike, canoe, kayak and even a dragon boat rental marina just down the road by the strawberry farm. You could paddle to Harbour Estates Winery, dock and then follow the wooden carvings, guiding you along the path to their winery!
There are different bike routes and bike maps to take you through the countryside visiting wineries and parks. And the Greater Niagara Circle Route and the Welland Canal Parkway allow you to bike away from traffic.
We are only 20 minutes away from Niagara Falls and a stunning hike in the Niagara Glen. This is where Niagara Falls fell 8,000 years ago before it continued on its path of eroding the gorge. Imagine flipping a switch that shut off the falls, and then waving a magic wand to add trees, ferns, wildflowers to the dramatic landscape. You can hike through the ancient plunge pools and see potholes and discover ant lions, tulip trees and rare ferns such as the walking fern. I own a company called Niagara Nature, Wine & Garden Tours so could guide you if you wanted a naturalist along!
Interaction with Guests
This is my home so I am here to welcome my guests and to interact as much or as little as they would like me to. They just have to let me know which!
Pets welcome for a $35.00 fee per visit, but you must contact me to arrange sleeping arrangements and details. I was an animal nurse years ago so am happy to hangout and "babysit" your friend.
No smoking in the house.
Use coasters and trays for damp and wet items such as glasses, wine bottles etc.
Don't put damp towels on the wooden chairs and furniture.
More than anything I'd like to ask my guests to tell me if they have any concerns while they are with me, so their concerns can be resolved. I am open to feedback and appreciate kindness because this is my home, not a hotel : )
We had a lovely overnight stay. Carla was wonderful with giving us privacy, while also being friendly and engaging. She made us a delicious breakfast, and was so accommodating with food restrictions and requests. You can tell she puts a lot of love and care into her home.
Certainly in the top few b&b experiences I've had to date (based on my experience with airbnb over the past two years at ~ 10 places) though of course it depends on what you're looking for.
Wonderful, healthy breakfast + Carla had a ton of regional knowledge about the area (wildlife, plant life, geology, things to do, history of the property itself, etc.).
Without a doubt a much nicer experience than we would have had had we stayed at a conventional hotel in town.
Definitely recommend this place!
My wife an I had an amazing experience. Carla was an excellent hostess and a wealth of information about the area. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was great and featured many locally produced items. We would definitely stay there again.
My husband and I stayed at Bonnybank B&B – Night Owl Room for 2 nights. Carla was very accommodating and was a great host. Coming from NYC, this place is truly a breath of fresh air. The house is very cozy and has a homely feeling to it. Carla makes the best breakfast and everything is organic and delicious. Thanks to all the information she shared with us, our visit to Niagara Falls was much memorable and enjoyable. Cedar, Carla’s dog is very friendly and absolutely adorable. We wish we could have stayed longer and done more activities around the neighborhood, but our time was limited. Either way my husband and I enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place and would recommend it to anyone who wants to visit.
For nature lovers and OWL enthusiasts, this is your home! Carla is a charming hostess , very very helpful and will share her enthusiasm for birds and nature with you. OUR room was clean and comfortable beds (Twin) the peace of the country is so nice without traffic of cars. We cycled the area all day and were happy to have a cosy quiet room at the end of the day and start the next with a scrumptious breakfast of waffles and berries. Thanx for the photos Carla as we forgot our camera...Next time we'd love to take advantage of candlelight conversation on the gorgeous old style patio.
My boyfriend and I spent two wonderful nights at Bonnybank Bed & Breakfast. The house was enchanting like from a story book and the owner, Carla, was the sweetest person I have ever met. She made us feel very welcome and gave us lots of advice on where to visit in the area. The house was very clean and cozy and the breakfast was delicious. I would highly recommend staying here!
Thank you Priyanka, you are very generous with your words; you have overwhelmed me with your kindness. I am so glad you appreciated this special property...it is magical to me and I'm glad you felt it too. It was lovely to host you and I will keep in touch following your artistic, beautiful business and exciting life!
Our trip was kinda spontaneous, I found this place the night before we went there, Carla replied immediately and was very accommodating.
Her house was only 10min drive off QEW, but was quiet and beautiful. I wish we could have arrived earlier to see the two wild owls, other guest saw them at around 8pm.
The king bed was firm and super comfy. And I loved the fact that there's a shelf of books in the bedroom. I read about the owl foundation and learned a lot about this bird and how this couple started from amateurs and became world famous in their field. I actually found this book at the conservation centre of Ball's Falls and bought it so I can bring it home to continue unfinished chapters. However the owl foundation is not open to public, visits are by invitation only for sponsors.
The next morning Carla gave us some winery coupons, and we picked one to visit (time was too limited), it turned out to be very good.

I'm a naturalist, environmentalist type who loves organic gardening, music, dancing, hiking, swimming with my doggy Cedar and writing my nature column. Before I founded Niagara Nature Tours 16 years ago, I worked at Agriculture Canada in Ornamental Entomology. Worked there for 14 years at Vineland Research Station before I was downsized. I care passionately about the Niagara Peninsula and it's agricultural lands, green spaces and history.
My Niagara Nature Tours offers Wine, Garden, History, Agriculture and Nature Tours and Hikes. Custom made, just for you or your group!
