We offer a clean natural lake for canoeing, swimming, nature trails, bird watching & lounging in a hammock or beach chairs. Rough it up and have a bonfire, observe star lights and experience an awakening, listen to the silence or sounds of nature. Early risers can benefit from the beautiful nature walking path, birding and tranquil vibration. This is a sanctuary. There are several fabulous spots to eat out on the water, picnic style or on the pier. Yet, you are not far from many small towns to explore and soak in culture.
Interaction with Guests
The SANCTUARY is a family of guests, not strangers. Though sometimes it is just YOU in this beautiful place, interacting is healthy. It brings connection among a good company of worldwide intellectual travelers to exchange information and enhance mindfulness and spirituality. That said, your room is totally private with lots of space. Lounge area, decking, and kitchen are shared. Each has its own bathroom facility.
Everyone is cool, quiet and in the distance. You really don’t see nor hear them. The walking path is also very quiet and remote along the bayou so there are more tranquil wooded areas to observe. The neighborhood is very safe.
Auto, parking included.

This was a wonderful way to celebrate our wedding anniversary! It was private, peaceful & perfect getaway setting for us. Thanks for opening your sanctuary to us!
We had a wonderful time. The place is spectacular, the cathedral room is comfortable and the neighborhood peaceful. Kathleen and Monica gave us all the good tips. Highly recommend.
Monica and Love who were hosting us on behalf of Kathleen made us feel really welcome and at home. We only stayed one night, but would liked to have stayed many more! The house is even more impressive than (the already impressive) photos, and the view out to the lake from the Cathedral room and from the the decking was stunning. A very relaxing place to stay, and somewhere we'll definitely try and return to next time we're back in Louisiana!
Such an amazing time at Kathleen's enchanting treehouse cabin. She made us feel so welcome and offered up great tips and advice for what not to miss around the area. We made so many great memories here and plan to return one day! Thank you so much Kathleen for all you did for us.
This was my first airbnb experience, and Kathleen was amazing! Her home is equally peaceful as it is beautiful. My partner and I went on a hike around the lake, took a canoe out, and just read along the bank of the water and listened to the birds- nature therapy! There are a few horses along the trail that we got to pet :) We slept with the windows open and had the best sleep in the fresh air. Get this: I was so wound up in stress when I was packing to get out of the city, I forgot about food! We got there without a morsel, and I thought it would be okay because we would just go and grab a bite somewhere near the lake house. When we got there, though, it was so nice, we didn't want to leave, and Kathleen was so gracious as to share some of her own food with us so we could cook dinner! And breakfast when we woke up was complimentary :) It was truly a beautiful stay and she is an awesome host- she was there when we needed her but not at all hovering or concerned with our business. Amazing!
Kathleen's house and surrounding property is beautiful, even better than the pictures show. Looking out our windows at the lake we could not see any neighbors. It is serene and feels like it's far away from everything, yet it's only a 20 minute drive to restaurants and museums. We were in the area for a long weekend, but could easily have stayed at Kathleen's longer and had more time to decompress as well as explore the area. The house is an art piece itself and the grounds are natural but very well groomed. The whole place is quite clean with screens on all window and door openings for lovely breezes. There are lots of places to hang out outside, on the deck, or indoors. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept great. Kathleen provides a wide variety of breakfast options which we enjoyed before heading out for our daily activities. It was wonderful to come back to this retreat at the end of the day. We loved our stay and plan to go back.
We were sure our visit would be good, just from pictures and reviews. But the reality surpassed our expectations by a mile! First, the house -- unique, beautiful, peaceful, restorative; a place to recover from the pressures and troubles of modern life. Then, the surroundings -- the lake, hiking trail, surrounding farm land make a special rural environment; note especially the small, nearby villages, too. And finally, our host: I can't say what a privilege it has been to know this extraordinary person for a week. Thank you, Kathleen.

About the Host, Kathleen
FYI At the moment I am in Mexico at a yoga retreat. For the months of June, July, and perhaps August my caretakers Monica (from Los Angeles) and Love (from Sweden) will be in charge of correspondence, making sure your arrival is smooth, and helping you with anything you may need during your stay at the Sanctuary Lakehouse. They are a friendly and lovely couple, and have been here since April.
I am an professional multi-talented artist with skills for a balanced lifestyle. The cottage is in a semi-remote wooded community on a 55 acre private lake. This living space is architecturally unique with antique features and has spectacular views of the lake throughout the whole structure. The property holds a perfect setting for HEALING, BIRD WATCHING, HIKING, YOGA, KAYAKING, WRITING, CREATING, LISTENING. A serene sanctuary just minutes away from the cultural experiences of Acadiana. This place is a 5 moon camp/resort for those who like the country vibration & natural sounds. A very soothing atmosphere. I have been hosting guests for many years from all angles of the globe. I truly enjoy connecting with guests. I also respect your need for privacy and silence, if that is what you desire. I can surely assist with directions and suggestions towards activities or sights in the surrounding areas. I am proud of our friendly culture known for its warming hospitality and this is what we are about: being caring & joyful, so WELCOME, if this suites your interest. LBGT friendly with open arms.
