About This Listing
Hello! I have an independent mother-in law like cottage available. It is in the Bayou St. John area (Mid city) and walking distance to Jazz Fest, as well as the bayou, city park, coffee shops, bars, and restaurants, and pretty much a ten minute or less drive to anyplace else in the city (the quarter, CBD, Uptown, UNO, Metairie). Furnished, TV, cable, internet, utilities, linens, basic cooking equipment, etc. included. There are 2 queen size beds as well as 2 twin size beds.
The space is vaulted and gets great light! When the weather is right, throw open all the french doors and enjoy! Located at the back of the property and completely independent, it is quiet and private. At times where parking is a premium, we likely can work something out for you to utilize the driveway if necessary.
Just a short walk to the street car line as well if you are without transportation. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly, and we'd love for you to come experience a piece of Bayou St. John living!
*Pricing varies at special events, ie: Halloween, Jazz Fest, Mardi Gras, etc.

Kristin was an awesome host! She had plenty of great recommendations of places to go. We didn't get to spend much time with each other, as we were always on the move, but hopefully we can next time around. It was a super cozy cottage in a great part of town. So close to some chill townie bars and eateries and just minutes away from the city park with so many amazing live oaks.
Felt super safe and secure the whole time. The neighborhood is very walkable. We were only greated with smiles by all the neighbors.
Kristin is a wonderful host and made us feel right at home.
She provided excellent recommendations for local food and fun.
The cottage is as described and perfect for a get away. It is not for those that are expecting a luxury suite - it is a down home place and has all the amenities needed.
The neighborhood is typical New Orleans residential.
My first day in New Orleans I lost my wallet on the bus from the airport - it had all my cash and cards. I managed to get a hold of Kristin and she was able to pick me up from the bus stop at which I was stranded. Super nice!
During our stay Kristin checked in from time to time online and was readily accessible if need be.
Her place is close to various routes to different parts of the city and is within walking distance of the park. Plus it's right next to some great places for food and drinks - like Parkway Tavern, a definite must for anyone visiting. Location is great.
The cottage is spacious, cute, and has all the amenities you'd want. A kitchen area is great for those that like to cook during their stay. Overall a great time. Thanks again!
cool place, super nice vibe in the cottage and everything works perfectly (heat/ac, kitchen, bathroom). location is great, close to food shops, bars, cafés, restaurants, easy/quick to get to any part of town+quiet, safe. kristin was easy to communicate with, a lovely host. can't recommend highly enough.
Kristin was a rock star host by making us feel right at home and even thought to call us to see if we would be interested in going to a local concert in a park. The Cottage was roomy and just as the pictures show with totally cool reclaimed wood and other elements.
Stayed 4-7 July 2014
The cottage is exactly as described. Kristin is a beautiful, great, discreet, & warm hostess. The cottage is tucked away in the rear of her property in a very quiet, peaceful neighborhood.
Pros- Detached cottage, quiet neighborhood, friendly neighbors, spacious accommodation with all amenities, large bed with a couple smaller futons, cable, stove & microwave, attached modern full bath, close to everything in New Orleans downtown area.
Cons- Loose stair steps, dimly lit & uneven walkway, multiple feline visitors and their excrement, a couple cockroaches and spiders, thin(see through) curtains on windows, limited street parking.
All in all, it was a good experience. New Orleans was great and so was this Bed&Breakfast. I am a country boy, so the things that some may consider bad did not bother me at all. But I still noted them. Kristin was very receptive as I gave her my review prior to leaving and she will have addressed most if not all issues in no time.
