Hello! I have an independent mother-in law like cottage available. It is in the Bayou St. John area (Mid city) and walking distance to Jazz Fest, as well as the bayou, city park, coffee shops, bars, and restaurants, and pretty much a ten minute or less drive to anyplace else in the city (the quarter, CBD, Uptown, UNO, Metairie). Furnished, TV, cable, internet, utilities, linens, basic cooking equipment, etc. included. There are 2 queen size beds as well as 2 twin size beds.
The space is vaulted and gets great light! When the weather is right, throw open all the french doors and enjoy! Located at the back of the property and completely independent, it is quiet and private. At times where parking is a premium, we likely can work something out for you to utilize the driveway if necessary.
Just a short walk to the street car line as well if you are without transportation. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly, and we'd love for you to come experience a piece of Bayou St. John living!

I stayed here for just over a week while in NOLA for work. The space is nice and the location is great. Was really nice to have a full kitchen - so i could cook and save some money. It's definitely a good value, and I'd consider staying there again if I had to spend a week+ in New Orleans.
However, it's worth noting that there must be at least a dozen outdoor cats on the property, so the yard you walk through to get to the cottage smells of cat poop. Also, while there is a real bed (not futon/sofabed), the mattress is a bit hard and sheets were a bit thin. Neither of these bothered me much, but could turn someone off.
Overall a good experience, though.
We stayed at Kristen's cottage in the Bayou St. John neighborhood during Mardi Gras. It was a very cozy cottage that had everything we needed and close to restaurants and parades. The neighborhood is near the streetcar line, which I took almost every day to the French Quarter and a couple of blocks to Bayou St. John - a great place for a jog or a walk. Pal's and Lola's are walking distance. Kristen was a great hostess and very responsive when we had questions. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you Kristen!
I was very pleased with my stay at the Bayou St. John Cottage.
I was in New Orleans for work so had an extended stay. Loved how close it was to anywhere I wanted to go. As in any city you have to be aware of your surroundings, but felt comfortable in the neighborhood. The streets are well lit. The cottage is in back yard behind a locked gate at the street. It is also a quiet neighborhood...peaceful evenings. Host is great. She wants you to be comfortable and is very accessible, but also gives you your privacy. Very lovely to deal with! Parking is on the street...not always a spot in front, but always one close by. The cottage has a bed, couch, and 2 pull outs. Kitchen has the basics. Everything worked and was clean. Laundry is convenient and separate from the main house so you can do wash whenever you need to. Was there Oct-Feb...heater worked great! Only had to use air conditioner a couple of times but was always comfortable. Would definitely book again.
