I loved my stay in this beautiful sweet Maisonette. And Christian and Marie could not have been more gracious or wonderful hosts! They are extremely kind and generous with their time, and it's clear they love Provence and Villeneuve. The house is perfect for 1-2 people - small but charming and cozy with every amenity one might need. And the town of Villeneuve I found enchanting and full of surprises! The whole experience was lovely.
Marie and Christian are a delight and very kind hosts. Ready to help, to direct and answer all the questions. The Masionnette is all as in the photos and so very much more. To stay here is a dream come true. To experience life in Villeneuve-les-Avignon was all one could imagine. The Farmer's Market on Thursday was the foodie in me a delightfully overwhelming experience. Fresh and succulent fruits, vegetables and cheese of the season, olives, meats and fish from the region. Who needs to cook!
To enjoy the beauty of the gardens Marie and Christian nurture and tend with loving hands is a landscape painter's haven. Next time I'll spend more time being a painter in the garden and less time being a tourist.
Oh, to sit on the patio on the summer evenings as the heat of the day subsides and the evening lights of Fort Saint Andre laminate the ancient stone walls above... the worries melt away as the heat of the day does as well.
C'est tres tres tres Magnifique !!!
P.s. I am now a fan of Ricard with Almond, sooooo refreshing on a hot summer's afternoon.
we had a really pleasant stay at Marie's and Christian's little peace of heaven. many thanks for your warm welcome and how you took care of us when we were with you. see you soon :-)
Christian and Marie are wonderful hosts, who have renovated this property with all the modern comforts, combined with respect for history and warm hospitality. They seem to truly love the property and chance to meet new people, and made me feel right at home. The property itself is amazing, & I found the location to be very convenient. I had no car, could walk into town, and take the bus to Avignon. The bus stop, as well as the local market, are right down the street. I imagine it would be great with a car, too, but no prob without one. It's a great place for experiencing the city and sights but having a more private, country feeling. I'd enthusiastically recommend it and am so glad for having had the opportunity to stay there. Didn't see anything in the other reviews I'd disagree with.
Everything is nicely set up for comfort, and wifi signal was strong and reliable.
Merci Christian et Marie pour une expérience assez unique et tres accueillante.
We absolutely loved staying here!! The hosts- Christian and his wife Marie were very warm and hospitable and welcomed us with a lovely bottle of wine and bread. They spent some good time with us- giving us the required instructions to use the different amenities and also gave friendly advice on what all to check out in Avignon/ around - complete with some brochures. If you happen to be staying there on Thursday, there is a lovely market which is held just below their house- a 2 min walk. There is also a tourist office there and the friendly guy gave us good advice. Staying there was convenient as we had all the amenities required for the kitchen as well. The view of the castle is amazing, the garden is beautiful - in short, highly recommended!!
We had a wonderful time in the maisonette, Christian and Marie are great hosts. We will come back for sure!
We had the best stay at this most fabulous maisonaitte. It had every thing you could possibly need for a stay of any duration, including welcome beverages and supplies. It was the perfect base for exploring this part of Provence. The hosts were most delightful and helpful. I would recommend this as a perfect " AIR BNB"
Marie and Christian open this estate and are so helpful, wonderful and speak English. The history of this location must be left for them to tell you but believe me if you get the chance jump on it. Although the maisonette is an efficiency apartment it was better equipped that any of the others we stayed in. You are but a stones through to Avignon but the square of Villeneuve Avignon is wonderfully charming with everything from fine dining to tiny bakeries all within easy walking distance
