Christian and Marie are wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome on our arrival. They are available to answer all your questions. The grounds and maisonnette are wonderful and were perfect for two. You are 5 minutes walk to the middle of Villeneuve and to fresh morning pastries plus wonderful restaurants. Just a couple of minutes to the bus stop right out front for the #5 line right in to Avignon or to the train station if you want to head to other locations that way. Don't miss the Thursday market right outside the gate! We look forward to coming back for a much longer stay!
To visit Marie and Christian is like the Duth saying, "feels like home". Marie is the spirit off the beautifull spot next to Saint Andre. Friendly she helped us to feel comfort in our temporary cottage and also to give an impression of the sourronding of Avignon. Christian welcom us with a good glass of wine and tell all about the history of the property. In reality the maisonette is like fairy tale with a bleu sky behind Fort Saint Andre. And yes...Saint Andre is also very impressive and is located in the picturesque Villeneuve les Avignon. It is all to good to be treu, but it really happened to us. Merci beaucoup!
My wife and I knew we were in trouble when we started altering our plans to give us another reason to come back to Villeneuve-lès-Avignon and this fantastic maisonnette.
The house is exactly as advertised. It's clean, cozy, and in a fantastic location. There was no shortage of amenities and our hosts made it very clear that we could come to them if there was anything we required.
Marie and Christian are such wonderful hosts. They provided us with advice on things to see, places to visit, restaurants to eat, etc. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and fresh fruit from the local market. Marie and Christian were kind enough to invite us over for a glass of wine and share their knowledge of the area, the house itself and they seemed genuinely interested in learning about us. When my wife cut her foot on one of our excursions, Marie provided her with disinfectant, gauze and band-aids. On another of our excursions, Marie and Christian gave us their parking pass so we wouldn't have to pay at the site. These two are an absolute delight and it was such an honour and pleasure getting to know them.
The maisonette was the perfect starting point for my wife and I to visit several cities/historical sites in Southern France. As you can see in the photos, Fort Saint-André is literally in your backyard. It was only a 5 minute walk from the maisonette. We had zero issues with the maisonette. Parking was private behind locked gates, house was very quiet, Wi-Fi signal was great, and the entire site was just beautiful. Plenty of storage space and your own patio/garden to enjoy.
We sincerely look forward to coming back to this wonderful mainsonette and seeing Marie and Christian again. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and doubt we will ever have the same experience again. These two certainly set the bar up high. Our only regret was that we had not booked a longer stay.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for being a wonderful part of our honeymoon.
Wir verbrachten vier Nächte bei Christian und Marie, wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und bekamen sehr viele nützliche Tipps und Anregungen. Die Unterkunft eignet sich hervorragend für Ausflüge rund um Avignon. Vielen Dank
Christian & Marie were very welcoming hosts and it was so lovely to meet them. The location of the house makes an ideal base for exploring Provence. It's just 3km away from Avignon, or about a 10 minute bus ride. A short walk away in Villenueve des Avignon are a selection of dining options. The place had everything we needed and was very comfortable with the added bonus of a view of the fort above. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking meals and there is A/C, a washing machine and convenient hassle-free parking out the front. Toiletries were also provided. I would highly recommend a stay with Christian & Marie. We would love to stay here next time we visit Provence.
What a gem! My daughter (22 years old ) and I spent 5 lovely nights at the Maisonette and used it as our base for touring Provence. The location is ideal - in a sweet village seeping in history. Fort St Andre and the Abbey are an easy walk uphill. Villeneuve has charming restaurants. The market is just steps away - on Thursdays a typical French market is held and on Saturdays a Flea Market is in the same place. The Tourist Information is just a block or so away - from there you can catch the #5 bus to Avignon (much easier and cheaper than driving and paying for parking). We also day-tripped to Vaison-la-Romaine (for a cooking class), to the French Riviera (beautiful drive from Frejus to Cannes), and to the Verdon Gorge (Grand Canyon of France).
The property is as pictured - delightful and charming on the outside, very modern and convenient on the inside. Christian and Marie provided everything we needed - from wine, bread, fruit, and coffee to laundry soap, shampoo, and body wash. We felt very safe and secure - the property and its car park are behind locked metal gates. When we closed our shutters at night, the Maisonette was completely silent and dark. The wireless was the best we had on our (website hidden) with cable is provided, but we never turned it on!
As mentioned in other reviews, pack some bug spray -the beautiful and private garden has Mosquitos.
We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return (maybe to Christian and Marie's larger rental home on the same property with friends).
This is my first experience of airbnb, and I believe it will be one of the best! Thanks so much, Marie and Christian, you give us a lot of help and care. Marie called to tell me how to get to their house from Avignon centre station which was so sweet, and We received very warm welcome when we arrived. Clean and tidy room just like in the photos, and a huge garden which is very very pretty. We even have a wood table just outside our room in the garden, and we enjoy a great breakfast with great view. Though it has a numerous tourists in Avignon this season, luckily we had a calm and wonderful place to rest. And don't forget to explore the castle just behind the house, amazing, you don't want to miss it! Everything is perfect, next time I will definitely choose Masionnettte again when I go back to Avignon :)
Merci beaucoup, Marie and Christian, I already miss you.
