Unique, off-grid cabin for two tucked away in an area of outstanding natural beauty. This bespoke built cabin with a vast star gazing window above the sumptuous king size bed is a hideaway not to be missed. The cabin is fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy a warm, luxurious stay in exquisite surroundings. Enjoy breath taking views and spectacular sunsets, as well as a fantastically clear view of the stars from both within the cabin and from the spacious private deck.

The space
New for 2020, this is one of only two uniquely designed and hand built cabins, nestled in a 5 acre field at Royal Oak Farm in the Blackdown Hills, a short drive away from the world famous Jurassic Coast.

The cabin has a kitchenette with hot running water, a cool box, and a gas hob. The sumptuous king sized bed beneath a vast skylight window (fitted with blackout blinds) makes the most of every opportunity to catch sight of a shooting star. The large en-suite shower room is fitted with a walk-in shower and vanity unit with a sink. A compost loo is accessed through a doorway from the shower room.

A wood burning stove will keep you toasty in the colder months and on chilly nights. We provide a basket of logs, kindling and fire lighters for your stay, additional ‘fire packs’ are available to purchase from us if you need more.

The living-eating space has a comfortable sofa along with a table and chairs for two positioned to take in the view from the French windows which open out on to a spacious private deck.

On the deck you’ll find a dining area and down on the grass, a seating and a fire pit/bbq where you can cook, relax and to watch the stars or take in the view. The deck also boasts a refurbished roll top bath with hot running water so that you can enjoy a luxurious soak beneath the stars. Telescopes and star maps can be borrowed and the cabin has plenty of cosy, warm blankets to keep you warm after dark.

The cabin lighting is powered entirely from solar energy, with LPG gas for cooking and hot water, making your experience completely 'off-grid'. The site has 4G on most mobile networks but Wifi is not available in the cabins. We invite guests to make the most of being able to switch off and unwind away from the bustle of daily live. However, if you do require access to the internet during your stay you are more than welcome to login to our Guest Wifi which is available in reception. The cabin has a usb charging point for recharging phones. Please note that due to the 12v solar charged nature of the cabin there are no 13amp sockets.

Royal Oak Farm is a small farm of 15 acres, guests are welcome to explore at their leisure and to take in the views and spectacular sunsets.

Because we sometime have livestock on the farm and we grow food products we unfortunately cannot allow dogs on the farm.

We have two cabins which can be booked together to sleep 4 - please send a booking request for further information.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic we are currently requesting that guests bring their own duvet and pillows. The bed will be made up with a mattress protector and sheet. Towels will be provided. We are also asking that guests clean the kitchen and bathroom with provided cleaning products before leaving to minimise the risk of spreading the virus. The cabin will be deep cleaned and sanitised between guests.

Other things to note
During the Covid-19 pandemic please bring your own bedding. We will provide a sheet on the bed and towels only.

The cabins are off-grid and therefore only have usb charging sockets.

A basket of logs, kindling and fire lighters will be provided for your stay. We have additional wood available to purchase should you require any more.

Please note that a highly efficient cool box and ice blocks are provided to keep food cold. Ice blocks can be replenished if needed. We advise you to bring food chilled if possible to help keep the box as cool as possible.

Located in the AONB in the Blackdown Hills, Royal Oak Farm has a quiet and rural setting without being isolated. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and explore within a short distance. The Jurassic Coast is a short drive away with a vast range of natural attractions, beaches and the coastal towns of Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Seaton and Sidmouth. Honiton, a 10 minute drive away and it's neighbouring villages boast a number of fantastic pubs and restaurants which we can highly recommend. TExeter is mere 30 minute drive and you’re in the heart of a busy and beautiful, historic city.

We moved to Royal Oak Farm in September 2019, following through on our dream to start up and run rural retreats for couples to enjoy a relaxed and comfortable stay in the glorious Devon countryside. Having lived in the area for the last 5 years we have lots of knowledge of the surrounding coastline and countryside and love exploring with our two kids when we have a rare day off. We look forward to welcoming our guests this year and can’t wait to make your stay the best ever!
