Beautiful and walkable

Guests say this area is scenic and it’s easy to get around.
Perfect for solo travellers to the Isle of Bute, or groups and families. A mixture of singe twin and family rooms. 5 mins walk from the ferry and town centre ideal for cyclists, hikers and sightseeing.

Fully equipped kitchens with free tea and coffee on tap, or relax in our large lounge with TV, games, books and plenty of seating and dining areas. Possibility of group bookings up to 39 guests. Please send a message for requests.

The space
The hostel itself is an old Victorian house with period features, high ceilings and the kind of charm that you only find with properties of this era:)
The TV is located in the lounge - the main shared area where many travellers have found new friends (We seem to have more than our fair share of warm and friendly people staying here). If you are out in the evening, the door is always open; there is no curfew, but I do ask guests to respect the peace and wellbeing of others staying.

We also have a buggy/bike store, barbecue area and free tea/coffee.

Guest access
Guests can access the kitchens, lounge and shared toilet and showering facilities.

Other things to note
I offer 14 rooms with a variety of single, twin, triple and 4 bed accommodation. Should you wish to book for more than one person, the cost is £25 per bed. Simply add the the number of visitors and I will accommodate you accordingly. There are NO shared dorms. Rooms are either for single occupancy or for the same party sharing. Thank you!

Neighborhood highlights

Rothesay offers a great variety of restaurants, pubs and gift shops.

There is a museum and of course, our wonderful discovery centre which houses a permanent exhibition on Rothesay’s history as well as a cute little cinema showing the latest films.

Best of all though, we have an abundance of beautiful woodland walks - and of course, plenty of great beaches! Ettrick Bay is a favourite, with a superb tearoom and playpark right on beach; Scalpsie Bay is a must if you enjoy rugged seaside walks, and Kilchattan Bay offers many little rock pools for kids to hunt for sealife.

Along Kerry Croy way you will often see seals basking on the rocks and the walk around to the lighthouse at Kilchattan is a stunning walk with views of neighbouring islands ...and the odd submarine!
