Classic Beach House
Charming older style beach house. Open plan living, dining and kitchen. Fusball and board games. Large verandah to laze around on and read books. One block from the shops / cafes, 5 min walk to the front beach, 10 min walk to the surf beach. Aircon / heating.
I am an easy going guy who likes art, music, bushwalking, boating and going to the movies. I have owned the house for over 20 years and have used it as a holiday destination during January. I recently have had a seachange and now live and work in Sorrento with my partner Juliet.
We live in the apartment below that has its own separate entrance.
The seaside village of Sorrento is one of the most popular and pretty holiday escapes on the Mornington Peninsula. Sorrento”s position at the southern extremity of the peninsula at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay provides a sweeping outlook. The town is known for its historic buildings, cafés, shopping and resident population of Bottlenose Dolphins.
Neil was a very pleasant and helpful host. The house was in an excellent location and well within a 5 minute walk to the main road. The house also provided plenty of room for 6 guests with a fully self contained kitchen, large dining table, lounge room, private bathroom, separate bedrooms and an outdoor decking area. Plenty of reading material, boardgames and even a foosball table provided to keep everyone more than entertained if you'd prefer a quiet night in. Would definitely stay here again
Great time had. Relaxing beach house with accommodating hosts . Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful weekend at Neil's Classic Beach House. We stayed last summer and it was lovely to return to its quiet comfort, well equipped kitchen and extensive supply of towels, snorkels, flippers, fishing rods, nets and all the equipment you need for a beach holiday. The house is very well located, within easy walking distance to the main street and front beach, and Neil and Juliet were great hosts, recommending an excellent cliff top walk, helping us to realise fishing plans and providing other helpful advice.
Neil’s delightful house is a warm and inviting place to relax into a beachside holiday. We had a wonderful time enjoying the art collection, foosball table, sporting equipment and fabulous selection of board games and books. The kitchen is well stocked and I was delighted to find such thoughtful touches of fresh fruit and milk on arrival. Neil is a great host and along with his partner Juliet, manages to strike the balance of friendly attentiveness and space. Thanks Neil and we hope to visit in the future!
Neil's beach shack in sorrento is in a brilliant location, walking distance to everything, which made our stay over the Christmas period extra lovely. Fantastic deck for outdoor feasting and soaking up the sun, and comfy inside for relaxing and making the most of the cupboard full of games. There was plenty if space for our group of six adults and 1 year old. No bath for the little one, but she splashed happily away in the sink instead - true holiday style. Neil was helpful, on call for 'how do we work the tv' related questions, and truly opened his home to us. We had a fantastic time, and felt really relaxed.
My girlfriends and I had a wonderful stay in Neil's cottage, it was cosy and quirky, clean and tidy - perfect for a beach getaway in either summer or winter. We enjoyed perusing Neil's book and CD collection, and he was very helpful with advice on what to do in the area and where we could go on walks. Thank you Neil!
I stayed here with my family for a weekend in November. Even though we arrived very late on Friday evening, Neil greeted us and ensured we had everything we needed. The place is, as the title suggests, a classic beach house with heaps of chairs to sit in the sun on the deck, a great BBQ, large kitchen and lots of books, maps and art.
We had a lovely weekend. Thanks Neil!
Me and 3 of my old high school buddies had a fantastic time without the kids. The house was perfectly set up with a big kitchen with lots of condiments, equipment, milk and fruit on arrival etc. The verandah was lovely throughout the day as you move easily into or away from the sun as needed. Great collection of books, cd's and dvd's. Neil lives underneath the house and is a lovely and friendly host. He isn't intrusive and you still feel completely private, yet have Neil as a great local guide to where to go for varying activities. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay and relax and we loved all the beautiful and vibrant art work.
It set up would be perfect for families too.
The Beach House has a very relaxed feel and is extremely well located in a quiet street off the main shopping and beaches of Sorrento, an easy 10 minutes walk. 2 couples and 4 young kids stayed for a weekend and it was fun. The property is kids friendly in that the verandah is gated and fenced in, so that the kids can run and scooter around at their leisure. A BBQ and outside table for 8 completes the a great summer's evening outside... provided you have taken the necessary mosquito precautions. The kitchen is well equipped (it even has egg poacher and a fondue set) but the absence of a pepper and salt grinder is a glaring omission which I'm sure will be rectified. Neil is a great and non-obstrusive host whose bright and striking artworks are displayed throughout the house. The bedrooms are all cosy and comfortable and all the bedding is provided. The kids' rooms can sleep 4 but one downside of the "bright" space throughout is that the Venetian blinds in all the rooms cannot block out the early morning sun, so unless you are an early riser, a sleep-in is pretty difficult in the light saturated rooms. We had a great time staying up with the boardgames provided by Neil, not to mention the Foosball table that takes pride of place in the lounge room. There is a lot to like about this place. We will be back for a visit soon.
Great beach house in a fantastic location, perfect for a family holiday.
