Your own private stay. Enjoy relaxing in a brand new architecturally designed private guest house after a day of skiing, wine tasting, tramping/hiking or mountain biking. Shower while gazing at Treble Cone. Sleep restfully on luxury european flax linen and feather pillows.

Private bathroom, courtyard and views of Roy’s Peak & Treble Cone ensure your stay in stunning Wanaka is memorable. Inside, the space has been carefully designed with interiors and finishes chosen to complement your comfort.

The space
Designed by local Wanaka architect Rafe Maclean Architects, you will have your own private and luxurious guest house, separate from the main house. Triple glazing and serious insulation help minimise extremes in temperature that Wanaka is exposed to, and provide a silent retreat to sleep in. However if you need more heating or cooling, a heat pump, air conditioner, and wall heater are fitted. Underfloor heating in the bathroom provides a lovely luxury for cold mornings, heated towel rails ensure your towels are dry and warm when needed.

A Nespresso machine, tea, home made granola and milk of your choice are provided, along with cutlery and crockery should you wish to eat your own food. There are no cooking facilities in the guest house, however Wanaka has plenty of delicious cafes and restaurants that I am happy to recommend to you.

A private courtyard and garden, provide a lovely retreat after enjoying the stunning surrounds of Wanaka. Bask in the views of Treble Cone and Roys Peak from your room - decide which mountain to hike or ski from your doorstep! A lockable garage is provided for any outdoor equipment you wish to secure.

If you have time and feel the need, a Smart TV is fitted, with the usual streaming services including Netflix (you will need your own Netflix account), TVNZ (live or on demand), Youtube, Google Play, Lightbox, Amazon, etc. Free Wifi is included. Please refer to the House Manual for more information.

Street parking is available in marked bays next door to our house. Otherwise parking is available on the property - being mindful not to park in front of our garage please. If you have a motorhome, please park on the street.

We have always adhered to high cleaning and hygiene standards, and we are excited about welcoming Airbnb guests again. Rest assured that we take cleaning seriously- all guests should feel safe while staying with us. Contactless check in and check out is available. All linens and towels are washed at a minimum 60 degrees Celsius, all hard surfaces are cleaned and wiped with disinfectant, and all crockery and cutlery is washed in a dishwasher.

We love living here and great care has been taken to create a space for you to enjoy too. We are lucky to live in a quiet town with amazing views, and ask that you enjoy your time here while being respectful of neighbourhood noise. Please note, a neighbour is building a house a couple of doors down so there is potential for construction noise 7.30am-6pm Mon-Sat. This doesn’t mean that noise will occur, but this is the only time that Council allows building noise to occur. So you may not end up hearing anything! The Airbnb has triple glazing and serious insulation, so noise will be minimised while you are inside. Rates have been reduced to reflect any potential disturbance. If you are coming to Wanaka to explore the area, then you will likely be out while any noise is occurring. But if you are looking for a place where you can chill outside and retreat, then this may not be the place for you right now.

Guest access
Guests can access the entire Guest House. A lockable garage, shared with the owner, is available for any equipment you need to store securely.

Other things to note
Like all New Zealanders, we have taken great care to keep ourselves and our community healthy. If you are sick, or have had contact with a someone who has been quarantined, please get in contact with us so we can cancel your booking. Cancellation fees will be waived if you are ordered by the government to stay home. Don’t risk it- stay safe, we will be here when you get better, or the government allows you to travel again. We are human, we understand, and we are kind.

We have a newly built home, so you may notice us gardening. This won't happen anywhere in the surrounds of your studio as your area has been finished - but you may spot us creating a mess elsewhere! Having you stay here helps us pay for trees and shrubs around our home.

Location

Wanaka, Otago, New Zealand

Wanaka is New Zealand's best kept secret! A little over an hours drive from Queenstown, via a picturesque range, enjoy a lovely, less intense atmosphere with the most beautiful peaks and lakes around. Most people come to Wanaka for adventure, but don't be fooled - this little town is home to award winning restaurants, wineries, and trendy stores, and many, like us, are choosing to stay!

Wanaka locals have a focus on the environment - you'll be pressed to find a takeaway coffee cup in town. But don't worry - reusable cups are provided for you when you stay with us.

You'll notice that many of Wanaka's landmarks feature on social media - including "that Wanaka tree", and Roy's Peak. The award wining wineries of Wanaka and Central Otago are known for their Pinot Noir - the most southerly wine region in the world! Give yourself plenty of time to explore our beautiful part of the world.

Your stay is only 20-30 minutes drive to the entry of the ski fields of Cardrona and Treble Cone, and only a 15 minute walk to the lake front. In need of mountain biking or a walk through the trails? Sticky forest is only a short 700m away from your door and is lovely to explore - you'll find many locals here hooting and hollering as they enjoy their rides. For the serious climbers, trampers or hikers, Mount Aspiring National Park is a short drive away.

Hi! I’m Marta and I’m lucky enough to call New Zealand home. My husband and I came here for a few holidays and loved it so much that we decided to work hard to make the move across from Australia. We built our house specifically to host Airbnb guests- to help pay for plants (and our mortgage!). Wanaka is a very special place, it changes your way of life- we love it! I’m vegan and my husband isn’t- and I’ve checked out many restaurants and cafes and can help you navigate where to go. You can’t go wrong in Wanaka, but there are some hidden gems and Chefs you should know about. Enjoy your holiday in New Zealand and I hope to host you soon!
