The Seaglass Cottage by the Bay is located in the quiet & beautiful neighborhood of Ocean Park just a quick 5 minutes stroll to the Chesapeake Bay beach. Our vintage beach house from the 1940’s has been fully remodeled and decorated in local art and beach décor. There are 3 private parking spaces for you and some first-come-first-serve street parking in front of the house.

The space
Guests have access to the entire home. We have automatic locks on the two front doors and will supply the codes the evening before or morning of check-in. No need for keys!

The first floor includes a mudroom, full living room with sectional sofa, kitchen (dishwasher, large fridge with additional fridge in the laundry room, and electric stove), sitting area with desk, dining room (table seats 8), two bathrooms (one with shower stall and one with shower/tub), game room (foosball and board games , books and sofa), master bedroom, laundry room, deck with patio furniture and quaint backyard (partially fenced in).

The 2nd floor has two bedrooms, one bedroom with a queen bed, and one bedroom with two single beds both have closets, luggage racks, and dressers. The cottage will comfortably sleep six guests.

The entrance to the cottage has a ramp into the front door for easy unpacking and unloading with one 2” step up into the living room. All other areas on the first floor are all on the same level.

The blinds go up and down by gently pushing them up or pulling them down. We didn’t want to have cords for safety reasons!

This is a 1940’s home and the house has its quirks! Although we stripped many rooms down to their studs during renovations, there aren't many square angles and level floors in the house. It adds character and that's why we (and you) will love it!

The attic was converted in the '70s to add the two upstairs bedrooms with 33” wide and limited headroom on the stairs and bedroom doors. Taller folks please be careful! We recommend leaving the AC units in upstairs during the hotter months.

There is one large TV in the living room with Netflix, Disney+, ESPN+, and a ton of DVDs. We have very fast Wi-Fi (the password will be on the chalkboard in the kitchen) and you will have access to our full-sized washer and dryer. We have 1 security Ring camera doorbell in the front of the house. No cameras are inside.

We provide necessities to get you started for your stay!
Items included are:
2 rolls of paper towels, 1 tea towel, 4 rolls of toilet paper, pump hand soap in both baths and kitchen, shampoo, shower gel, enough laundry detergent for a few loads and 2 pods for the dishwasher, plus enough coffee and tea for the 1st morning along with sugar, coffee filters and creamers.
Both bathrooms have blow-dryers (if the blow dryer doesn’t turn on please check the reset button on the GFI plug ), we include 2 bath towels per person, 1 washcloth per person, 1 makeup removing cloth and 2 hand towels in each bathroom. Please be mindful of products with hydrogen peroxide as they bleach the towels and we have to replace them!

We also have a first aid kit, alarm clock and iron and ironing board available in the laundry room and have luggage racks in each guest bedroom.

For beach-goers, we have 3 boogie boards and 5 beach chairs we store in the mud room (the less sand in The Cottage the better! :-)

Please bring your own beach towels!

The kitchen is equipped with kitchen utensils, pots & pans, knife set, plates, kids plates and cups, glassware, coffee maker, crock pot, tea kettle, microwave, water dispenser inside the fridge, toaster, blender, service platters and bowls, storage containers, flatware, glassware, salt & pepper, oil, coffee (enough for a pot) and tea bags, sugar, creamer, 4 trash can liners, and plates to service up to 6 guests. Kroger and Food Lion are located less than a mile away when you are ready to stock up!

There are 3 private parking spaces in the driveway and some additional first-come-first-serve street parking.

We have a private storage area/room (owner only) on the side of the house which is accessed by a separate outside door.

If you see the birdbath is empty please feel free to fill it up. Lots of birds use it in our backyard! Also, we love some water fun, but please don’t let kids use the hoses as the spigots are fragile and can break! (And the Bay is a much better water playground!)

Where you’ll be

Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States

We hope you make lots of family memories in our beautiful beach house!

The Seaglass Cottage is a 5-minute walk to the Chesapeake Bay beach, a neighborhood playground, The Brock Environmental Center, nature trails, Lynnhaven Boat Ramp, First Landing State Park (5 mins by car), local bike paths, and fishing spots.

Within a short walk are several great restaurants and bars in the beautiful neighborhood known as "Ocean Park". To get to the beach you don't need to cross Shore Drive (if you don't want to!), just head left out of the cottage then right at Shore drive and go straight towards the boat ramp under the Lesner Bridge (you will pass restrooms at the boat ramp). You can paddleboard and kayak right off the beach!

We are also 10-20 minutes from many local attractions including the Virginia Beach Oceanfront (lots to do including concerts, shopping, biking or just beaching it), The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, the Vibe Art District, the city of Norfolk, The Adventure Park (ropes course), iFly, (indoor skydiving) The Convention Center, MOCA (art center), putt-putt golf (at the Oceanfront), First Landing State State Park (hiking trails, beach, and museums), The famous Cavalier Hotel & Distillery and many local breweries.

The cottage has a bin of local brochures filled with activities for the family. The closest place for a great cup of coffee and fresh breakfast is American Brew and it is located at the base of the Lesner Bridge just feet from the cottage.

Working in Norfolk VA, living in Virginia Beach, online marketer and passionate sailor, though not necessarily in that order when there's a fair wind!

I speak at some local, national and international industry events on Marketing, SEO and Social Media.

English expat, now proud American with a funny accent.

Have kids in the Los Angeles area, friends all over the states, many XGOs from my Club Med days scattered around the world, and lots of family & mates in the UK...

Between that and business, I'm often traveling.

We are locals and just live on the other side of Shore Drive and are happy to meet when you arrive (if we are traveling we will have a property manager available) and share what we love so much about our little slice of paradise! My wife and I are available by phone or through the website 8 am to 10 pm and 24 hrs a day for emergencies via cell phone.

We have a complete house manual on the coffee table with details about the house, how the TV works, local restaurant options, things to do in the area, transportation options, check-out list, and emergency information.
