Interaction with Guests
We work kind of odd hours, so there's a good chance one of us will be around most of the time. If you wanna hang with us, we'd be happy to chat. If not, it's all good.
Uptown is a historically rich neighborhood. For over a century, Uptown has been a popular Chicago entertainment district, which played a significant role in ushering in the Gilded Age, the Lyceum Movement, the jazz age, the silent film era, the swing era, the big band era, the rock and roll era, has been a filming location for over 480 movies, has ties to significant spectator sport athletes and organizations, including the Chicago Blackhawks and three Olympic figure skaters, as well as theater, comedy clubs, dance performers who later became nationally famous, and even "The People's Music School," a needs-based, tuition-free music school for formal classical music training.
A very popular tourist destination, the Uptown Entertainment District is home to various music venues, nightclubs, restaurants and shops. The Uptown Entertainment District is now experiencing a revival, with new restaurants and shops opening every year. Uptown Square, at the center of the Uptown Entertainment District, was designated as a National Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Uptown is also a stop for Chicago Gangster tours, with many locations tied to infamous gangsters such as John Dillinger, Al Capone, Machine Gun Jack McGurn, Roger "The Terrible" Touhy and others. Venues include: the Aragon Ballroom, the Riviera Theater, the Uptown Theatre, Green Mill Cocktail Lounge, Argyle street Asian restaurants and shops, the Rainbo, the Arcadia Ballroom and the 5100 Club.
Amazingly close to lots of public transit options!
1 block from the 92, 147 (Downtown Express), 146 and 151 bus lines
2 blocks from the 36 bus line, a Divvy bike-share station, the Argyle Red Line Train Station and the lakefront path (great for running, biking and walking)
3 blocks from the 81 bus line
There is free street parking that is pretty easy to come by during the day, but definitely a little more challenging at nighttime.
Getting here from either airport is pretty easy, it just takes a while as the airports are pretty far outside of the city.
Other Things to Note
We're only one block from a brand new amazing grocery store called Mariano's, which is great!
My husband and I are pretty relaxed, we just ask that you treat our house and our things with respect. We like to keep a clean place, so we are a Shoes-Off household...we'd like to keep the city dirt outside. :) Also, we don't care if you want to party, but please don't bring the party home. As far as the kitchen goes, you are welcome to use any of our utensils and pans. One more thing, I am allergic to seafood, so you can't cook or prepare any fish in the kitchen. Thanks! Also, no smoking or drugs in the house.
Brandon and Dominic were very welcoming and fantastic hosts. I love the location, convenient to the Red Line and plenty of great restaurants in the immediate area. Their place is beautiful, exactly as pictured, and the room was clean and comfortable. I felt comfortable coming and going as I pleased, and look forward to returning to the city and staying here again! It was an absolute treat and made my trip all the more special to stay here. Thanks, guys!
Brandon and Dominic are excellent hosts: very nice, friendly and welcoming people. They were also very kind to give me some tips to navigate the city, to find restaurants, etc. The apartment is very clean, the room is cozy and the bed is very comfortable. I recommend it!
Brandon and Dominic were great hosts! They made sure our trip to Chicago was easy and fun! They had great recommendations for restaurants and sights to see. Their location in the city was perfect. There was plenty to do around the area and it was closely located to downtown and other neighborhoods. I would definitely recommend staying with Brandon and Dominic for any future travels into Chicago!
This was our first time using Airbnb. Dominic and Brandon are very friendly and welcoming. The apartment is very nice and clean and we had access to all facilities we may have needed. The neighborhood was perfectly fine. Its a short walk to the Red Line and felt safe the entire weekend whether walking during the day or at night. They provided wonderful options for places to eat & shop and things to do. Great first Airbnb experience!
Leading up to my arrival, both Brandon and Dominic were super responsive through text and gave me advice on how best to get to their lovely home. Throughout the week they gave me great suggestions on places to eat and go see- the highlight of which was the Green Mill Jazz Club a few blocks away from their home. It was easy to get around by bus and train and I just loved getting to know both of them. The room I stayed in was beautiful, smelled wonderful and was relatively quiet. Brandon and Dominic were just so kind and open and I cherish them opening up their home to me-- I plan to visit again once it warms up!

About the Host, Brandon & Dominic
Brandon: I am a UI developer, graphic designer, a professional makeup artist, a vegetarian, a student and a lover of the arts!
Dominic: I am an avid yogi in teacher training right now. Also, professionally, I am a freelance musician playing Broadway in Chicago as well as other local theater shows.
When we're not at home here in Chicago, we think NYC is our favorite place to visit! We have decided to live a simpler life and bought our cozy little condo when we got married a couple years ago...we would rather spend our money on experiences rather than possessions.
