Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
Private, well-appointed guest cottage in one of Atlanta’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Our cozy Virginia-Highland property is tucked among mature trees behind a 1911 Craftsman main house—within walking distance of Piedmont Park, ATL Beltline, dozens of restaurants/shops, and minutes from universities, concert venues, sporting events and the Downtown/Midtown business districts. Safe and thoughtfully tended, it's an ideal retreat for quiet, discerning travelers who want to explore our city!

The space
Free street parking is ample and safe. Access to the the guest house is via a well-lit garden gate on the left side of the main house, then up a full flight of stairs to the front door. Prior to your arrival, you will be issued a code for your front door’s smartlock that is active until your check-out time.

Guest access
The very private guest house is yours for your stay, but we live AND office in the main house, so are available when and if needed.

Other things to note
***Please be mindful that our guest cottage is not well-suited for more than two adult guests (sorry, no children or pets). Guests will need to climb stairs to get to the front door (see photos), and walk a step-stone path, things to be wary of if mobility is limited.

This is a quiet, residential street, and we do reside on-property. We value our privacy and safety as well as yours. Both guests MUST have their names on the registration. Guests with no reviews will need to supply some sort of reference before being approved. If both you and your companion have no reviews but would like to share some other form of reference, please let me know.

This is a strictly non-smoking/vaping property—including marijuana, vape products, and incense, whether used indoors or outdoors, or even carried in on clothing. Due to the small size of the guest house and its soft surfaces, lingering odors are especially noticeable and difficult to remove. We cannot host guests who use or carry the aroma of cannabis products on their clothes during their stay, as prior guests have complained about the smell. Thank you for helping us maintain a clean, welcoming environment for all.

Neighborhood highlights

Virginia-Highlands is a wonderful old Atlanta area, and this property is on one of its most coveted streets. Charming, early 1900's Craftsman bungalows and mature trees line residential streets, so expect to see couples drinking coffee on the porch Saturday mornings, families walking their dogs down old honeycomb sidewalks, and neighborhood kids playing basketball in the street. Three blocks almost any direction opens up quaint (and delicious!) dining options and tried-and-true watering holes.

If you're willing to walk more than three blocks from home, Ponce City Market is less than a mile away, where the reimagination of an historic Sears & Roebuck distribution hub is now abuzz with trendy shops and eateries. Check out Ponce City Market's website for a full listing.

Before heading back, stroll the BeltLine--or rent a bike or scooter to cover more ground. This vibrant stretch is Atlanta's answer to NYC's Highline; a well-traveled pedestrian trek thorough Atlanta's booming core, winding through public art exhibits, Civil Rights memorabilia, and more interesting and eclectic dining hotspots such as Krog Street Market. We offer brochures and maps to these spots in your room, or we can email you a customized map ahead of time to help you plan.

After your day out, return to your private retreat perched among the trees to refresh before exploring more of one of the US's largest metro areas...or just have dinner delivered IN, sign-in to your Netflix account, and chill in front of the TV. This is a lovely spot you've found, and whether you're traveling for business or pleasure, we're glad you're here and want you to enjoy your getaway thoroughly.

Where I went to school: University of Texas
Most useless skill: Most of my amazing skills are useless...
A native Texan, I grew up with a hospitality model that included a smaller “Casita” behind our historic main house. Throughout my lifetime, my parents made that guest house available to relatives, friends, transplants, refugees, and a spectrum of visitors from all sorts of interesting places and situations. These guests and their stories helped me see the world from a family-like perspective and gave me the opportunity to witness my parents practice an authentic hospitality that enriched us all. Plus, it was tons of fun! It is my delight to be able to continue that tradition with our lovely “Perch” among the trees in a colorful, walkable, and beautiful community. Please, be our guest.
