Our barn is located to the side of our home in our field. This year we have two cows instead of goats and will also have some sheep. Our location is surrounded by the Green Mountain National Forest and is quiet and we have beautiful sunsets and a view of the Adirondack Mountains.
Nestled in the field to the side of our home is a lovely new wooden barn. Our field is host to an ever changing collection of animals from May to October but the barn will be just for you. In the past we have had goats but this year we have two milking cows , 5 sheep , one goat and two baby calves. They all belong to our wonderful neighbors.
A private sleeping area is equipped with a full size futon, lighting, small mini fridge, microwave, radio/cd player and plenty of rustic charm. We have wireless internet in house you can use. The barn depending on location and device you have, might be able to pick up the service.
An upstairs loft holds a ping pong table and basketball hoop.
We can host children but you would need to bring their own camp pads, sleeping bags and towels. There are plenty of fun activities for them on the property and in the area.
The views from the barn's deck are nothing short of spectacular. You are welcome to join us in the main house to use the kitchen and the bathroom (the barn does not have either). All linens are provided for the adults but not the children.
Our place is about 15 minutes from the town of Brandon which has several wonderful restaurants, a grocery store, and shopping. We are also about 25 minutes from the college town of Middlebury which is known for its quaint downtown and arts scene. We are nearby to Middlebury College Snowbowl for downhill skiing and Rikert Ski Center for X-Country skiing (one of two places in the state that makes snow!). We are also minutes away from Blueberry HIll Ski Center for back country skiing and snowshoeing. We can provide the snowshoes.
This space is perfect for someone looking for a rustic retreat in a beautiful part of Vermont. We will make you feel at home!
A note about reservations in the colder months. We are more than happy to accommodate but you would need warm clothes The barn room is insulated but please keep in mind that temperatures after October and before April can be very low so please pack accordingly. This experience is similar to winter camping but protected from the elements!
Guests have access to the entire property and more than welcome to use our kitchen. The bathroom is in the house.

We have been living in Vermont for the past 30 years. We raised 4 beautiful daughters in this house and now that they are all on to other adventures we have some extra space. We love meeting new people and have traveled to many different parts of the world (often visiting our daughters who love to travel as well). We also have a home in Rhode Island that we are now listing for weekly rentals.
David is a retired teacher and Rene is a physical therapist. We enjoy all things related to the outdoors from collecting sap to making syrup on the wood stove, swimming, hiking, and skiing the trails by our house. We love to read, garden, and enjoy our life in Vermont and Rhode Island Please contact us for more information!
