The space
The chapel holds 75 guests and up to 90 - 100 when extra seating area is used. The chapel is a traditional chapel with high ceilings and wooden pews with pads. It is used as a community church on Sunday mornings. The fellowship hall has tables set up and has table cloths and all the kitchen supplies you will need. Has punch bowl and other drink containers. Refrigerator, Freezer, range, microwave, and stocked kitchen. There are ample wooden chairs and folding chairs for the dining area. Has wooden floor.

It has been my pleasure to host the Grouse Valley Lodge and the Honeysuckle Lodge in Dexter,,Kansas - both were sustaining projects of the nonprofit 501 (c)(3) Lighthouse Library. The library was built by all volunteer labor. It provided community services such as a food bank and clothing to others. We oved the community library to Hicks Chapel where we continue to provide literacy programs for children & adults. We are thankful for the funds from those who stay as our guests so we can keep the little rural nonprofit open. I am a certified teacher and have served as a social worker. We are a military family who finally made it back home! The library project was a memorial tribute to our teen daughter who was killed in an auto accident & a tribute to our hometown. We now serve as care-takers for Hicks Chapel Church in rural Dexter. It was built in 1909 and served as a United Methodist Church until May of 2019. It now serves as a nondenominational church. We enjoy sharing this lovely space with others where they can have a day retreat, family reunion, or schedule a meeting. I love sunrises and sunsets and hope you enjoy the beauty of the area and the peaceful lifestyle that you will find in this area.
