About this listing
Come stay in my wonderful 1BR apartment in the heart of Astoria. This is a true one-bedroom and it is a really large, comfortable apartment. You will be staying here while I am out of town. No roommates, no sharing. I've lived in a bunch of apartments here in Astoria and this is the best one I've seen!
It is on the second floor of an elevator building just 1.5 blocks from the subway (you'll be glad for this after walking around the city all day) and only about 15 minutes from Manhattan. It is located on a quiet side-street just off Broadway and Steinway with wonderful dining, shopping, bars, etc. Laundromat just down the block. If you've never been to Astoria, you're going to love it. Everything you need is right around the corner and Manhattan is just minutes away. Check out the 'Map' tab above and my Guidebook for listings of all my favorite spots in the neighborhood!
Inside, it is fully furnished and nicely decorated. The real hardwood floors and big windows are wonderful. You will feel right at home. Everything is included (water, heat, electricity, gas, high-speed Wifi, clean linens and towels). Between the double bed and the huge comfy sofa, you can sleep three here or have it all to yourself. Some of the highlights are:
- Double bed, one fancy foam pillow (love it!), extra pillows
- A huge desk so you can get work done (complete with an external 24" monitor, mac keyboard, macbook stand, and iPad stand for your use)
- Closet and dresser space
- Window AC
- Large comfy sofa (definitely sleep-able)
- Gorgeous 46" Sony Bravia LCD HDTV/BD player/Mac Mini Home Theatre setup
- Cute expandable dining table with 4 stools
- Ready for you to cook. Lots of cabinet space, and fridge space.
- Gas oven and stove
- Microwave, Toaster Oven, Blender, Electric Tea Kettle
- Detachable shower head with several settings mounted high on the wall for you tall guests
- Large and bright by NYC standards!
You are going to be staying in my apartment which I live in year-round except for my work out of town. I treat my space with a lot of respect and it is important that you do too,
- No smoking
- No pets
- Drawers, cabinets, and areas with my personal stuff will have small pink/red stickers on them. Please do not open or use anything with a red sticker. Other than that, the stuff in the apartment is yours to use and enjoy.
Jake è cordiale, amichevole e risponde velocemente a ogni domanda. L'appartamento è pulito, spazioso e ha una grossa tv: fantastico!
Il nostro pernottamento è stato dunque grandioso!
We stayed here for 8 nights. Astoria is a very nice area, full of restaurants, pubs and a supermarket . Steinway subway is very close to the apartment and you're in Manhattan in 15-20 mins with a direct train.
Jake is very kind and friendly and he used to answer our email very soon.
The apartment is clean, big, with a big tv: great! we really liked our staying!
Jake's Astoria apartment was a great place to stay in while visiting New York. The apartment was spacious and clean and he had everything we needed for the week! The area in Astoria that the apartment is located has a lot of different options for restaurants and bars and it is close to the subway as well which made it very convenient. I would stay here again!
Stayed here and was very happy with the place and accommodations. It is very close to a subway stop. The room was clean and everything was functional. Host was unable to be present for the check in but he made arrangements and it all went very smoothly. I would definitely stay here again when visiting.
I was able to meet Jake in person. He was very nice and friendly. His guideline was very clear and easy to follow. I enjoyed staying at his apartment very much. His apartment was clean and organized. I really liked the atmosphere of the apartment and felt just like a home. Some people mentioned about the sound you might hear in the night. I heard some sounds from neighbors, but it was not a problem at all for me. The building had an elevator which was helpful for the traveler with couple heavy luggage. The location of the apartment was perfect. It was near by everything I needed, such as subway station, banks, grocery stores, restaurants, bars, movie theater, post office, drug stores, and etc. I will definitely recommend his place!!
Jake's place was perfect for what I was looking for: clean, comfortable and located close to Manhattan. You need only 15minutes with the Sub. Astoria is full of little shops and you will find everything you need. The only negativ thing I can say is that light sleepers might better bring some ear-plugs, because the doorslaming is going till the middle of the night.
Bell'appartamento e fantastica location.
Nice apt and great location. I didn't know Astoria and i was surprised by the large number of excellent restaurants. Very safe place, contrary to what i thinked about Queens. Very useful proximity to the subway (Steinway St, the M and R lines).
I didn't meet Jake (his friend Tim gave me the keys of the apartment), but there was a correspondence, proved helpful and swift in responding to my questions.
I found that Jake's comunication level was at an all time high. I'd stay here again when needed. His location is clean and is in a great area; close to R/M and the N/Q train lines. Which is excellent after partying til 4 and finding my way back to the apartment. Plenty of bodegas in the area for late night cravings too. If you want to stay in New York pick his location, trust me. We stayed a week and wanted to stay. It felt like home!
