My home, "The Tree House", is a beautiful Victorian flat with a terraced garden, period detail and modern amenities. Charming, convenient Bernal Heights location on tree-lined street near the Mission with the City's best weather.
Retreat to my one bedroom condo with comfortable queen bed. The Tree House is a well-preserved Victorian home built in 1904, with modern kitchen & bath, insulation and soundproofing. Washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, wireless internet and phone line (local calls free). There is a queen sized sofabed (comfortable for guests under 170 lbs) in living room.
Terraced garden/orchard, shared with my upstairs neighbor, leads to upper deck with City views.
You have the opportunity to use my full kitchen including my own dishware. This is my primary residence and I also have a dog (bichon-poodle mix, not a shedder), who will be out during your stay. Well-behaved dogs allowed for additional fee for cleaning (count as extra person; security deposit includes pet deposit).
I always leave light breakfast food for guests, such as cereal, almond milk, Greek yogurt and organic produce, and also something tasty like wine or chocolate. If you have food allergies or preferences please let me know.
Eco-friendly features: unique wine crate kitchen furniture, recycling and compost bins, gas fireplace, CFL and LED lighting, green cleaning products and previously-loved furniture in every room. The bathroom is full of sustainable materials, such as the bamboo vanity and baseboards, recycled glass tiles and a marmoleum floor! We even have a compost pile in the backyard that you may use (instructions provided upon request).
Guests are encouraged to unpack and hang up their clothes in the armoire in the dining room. You are welcome to enjoy the back patio and garden.
If I'm in SF when you arrive, I'm happy to chat over a cup of tea & give you the full tour of my place including backyard. Guests are invited to call or text anytime with questions about my place or SF!

llana has been the perfect hostess. We had questions prior to renting, and she patiently answered them all! Her home is beautiful and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Ilana was a great host for our stay over the 4th of July. I didn't have a great experience in the area, I will say that. I didn't feel very safe, as the surrounding area isn't fantastic. But that being said, Ilana's home was lovely and she was very accommodating, for myself, my boyfriend and our small dog. We hiked up to Bernal Heights to watch the fireworks which was amazing and overall, the trip turned out to be great. I would recommend her place.
To clarify for other readers/potential guests: I felt terrible that Alix's car was broken into when parked a couple of blocks from my home, in daylight hours. I do live just a couple of blocks from the Mission (A.K.A. SF hipster central), which is not as safe as Bernal Heights. However, this kind of thing can happen to anyone, anywhere, even in the nicest neighborhoods.
Alix, thank you for the recommendation and I hope you have a more pleasant experience on your next trip to SF.
Our stay at Ilana's home was just wonderful. Her apartment is clean, airy and filled with light. The back garden is beautiful, and we spent a lot of time out there, writing and reading and enjoying the sun, flowers and fruit trees, as well as the exquisite view. There is something magical about this area--a lot of creative and inspiring energy. Ilana is warm, friendly, and easy to communicate with. I would love to stay at her treehouse again!
Everything about this place was so peaceful that it felt like being on vacation. Mostly because the listing itself is cozy and the backyard was so lush with vegetation. It helps that the deck and hot tub look onto this greenery in addition to partial downtown views. It was great soaking in those views from the hot tub, it felt like a retreat. It amazed me how clean the place was despite notice of having pets.
Host was very prompt with communication and flexible with the booking request. Definitely recommend this listing!
Had a wonderful time at Ilana's house. The house is comfortable and has all the amenities that we needed. I enjoyed staying in a house (felt like a home) as opposed to a hotel. Ilana's welcoming gifts were a nice touch too.
Illana was a charming and thoughtful host. Her home is stylish and comfortable. Her dog is adorable

I am a native San Franciscan and am proud to share my home & city with you. I have worked in the environmental field for over 10 years and am active in the local Jewish community. I love going on outdoor adventures in the Bay Area, from hiking to stand-up paddleboarding, or just relaxing with a cup of coffee or glass of wine.
Favorite travel destinations: Israel, Hawaii, Galapagos, Guatemala, snowy mountains. I speak a bit of Hebrew and Spanish.
I think my home reflects my personality- a mix of traditional with eco-chic and modern accents. Some of the art in my home includes etchings by my artist grandfather and a few things I created myself. I have a sweet little dog named Lily who would be happy to cuddle with you if you're renting the sofabed/living room.
I enjoy gardening and get along very well with my condo neighbor upstairs; we share responsibility for the yard.
Feel free to ask me any questions about the Bay Area - I also know a fair amount about traveling around the West Coast.
