My home, "The Tree House", is a beautiful Victorian flat with a terraced garden, period detail and modern amenities. Charming, convenient Bernal Heights location on tree-lined street near the Mission with the City's best weather.
*Please note the "street view" shown is not my street; it's a couple of blocks away. My street is one lane, one way and only has small homes.*
Retreat to my one bedroom condo with comfortable queen bed. The Tree House is a well-preserved Victorian home built in 1904, with modern kitchen & bath, insulation and soundproofing. Washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, wireless internet and phone line (local calls free). There is a queen sized sofabed (comfortable for guests under 170 lbs) in living room and/or mattress available upon request.
Terraced garden/orchard, shared with my upstairs neighbor, leads to upper deck with City views.
You have the opportunity to use my full kitchen including my own dishware. This is my primary residence and I also have a dog (bichon-poodle mix, not a shedder), who will be out during your stay.
Bike parking is available. Well-behaved dogs allowed for additional fee for cleaning (count as extra person; security deposit includes pet deposit).
I always leave light breakfast food for guests, such as cereal, soy milk, and organic produce, and also something tasty like wine or chocolate. If you have food allergies or preferences please let me know.
Eco-friendly features: unique wine crate kitchen furniture, recycling and compost bins, gas fireplace, CFL and LED lighting, green cleaning products and previously-loved furniture in every room. The new bathroom is full of green materials, such as the bamboo vanity and baseboards, recycled glass tiles and a marmoleum floor! We even have a compost pile in the backyard that you may use (instructions provided upon request).
Guests are encouraged to unpack and hang up their clothes in the armoire in the dining room. You are welcome to enjoy the back patio and garden.
Safe(r), charming Bernal Heights location on tree-lined street near the Mission offers the City's *best weather* combined with access to 101 & 280 freeways, public transportation (BART and MUNI), great restaurants, independent shops and markets. There is a sunny park/playground at the end of the block, and Bernal Heights Park is a short walk uphill with hiking paths and stunning 360 degree views.

Our stay at Ilana's home was just wonderful. Her apartment is clean, airy and filled with light. The back garden is beautiful, and we spent a lot of time out there, writing and reading and enjoying the sun, flowers and fruit trees, as well as the exquisite view. There is something magical about this area--a lot of creative and inspiring energy. Ilana is warm, friendly, and easy to communicate with. I would love to stay at her treehouse again!
Everything about this place was so peaceful that it felt like being on vacation. Mostly because the listing itself is cozy and the backyard was so lush with vegetation. It helps that the deck and hot tub look onto this greenery in addition to partial downtown views. It was great soaking in those views from the hot tub, it felt like a retreat. It amazed me how clean the place was despite notice of having pets.
Host was very prompt with communication and flexible with the booking request. Definitely recommend this listing!
Ilana's apartment is absolutely gorgeous, within a great house in Bernal Heights. The backyard is an incredible retreat, with a large sundeck and a great hot tub. I arrived to a bottle of wine, fresh fruit was dropped off during the week, and the gas fireplace really ties together the livingroom.
We had a great experience. The space was exactly as described. We were happy with all the accommodations. The rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean, and sufficiently spacious for two people. An added bonus was an extremely comfortable bed, a lovely outdoor garden, great view from the upper deck and easy to find street parking - which is a major accomplishment in San Francisco. There is a lovely park nearby and a great little breakfast spot opposite. The neighborhood is safe and peaceful.
Everything was exactly as described. Ilana was present when we arrived for any questions we might have and gave us a verbal tour of the area (and left us some snacks!). Her home is beautiful and comfortable and the location is fabulous. You can't go wrong here.
a beautiful and spacious apartment in a peaceful neighborhood. even though it's peaceful, you're right next to buses that go right downtown (like the 14 and 49), or you can just hang in the great bars and restaurants in the mission.
ilana was very helpful and friendly, as well, leaving us some chocolate on our pillow and breakfast goodies for the morning. she has a ton of recommendations for good places to go in the area and beyond. plus she was really flexible letting us drop off our things a bit early which was very much appreciated!
we really enjoyed our stay, and only wish it could have been longer!
This was our second time staying at Ilana's place. Very comfy!
Had a wonderful time at Ilana's house. The house is comfortable and has all the amenities that we needed. I enjoyed staying in a house (felt like a home) as opposed to a hotel. Ilana's welcoming gifts were a nice touch too.
Illana was a charming and thoughtful host. Her home is stylish and comfortable. Her dog is adorable
Ilana went out of her way to accommodate us when another Airbnb listing had to cancel on us at short notice.
The apartment was comfortable, clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. It's in a good location, about 100m from a bus stop with frequent buses to central SF, and also easy to connect to the BART for the airport. There are some great restaurants and cafes just around the corner on Mission St; El Taqueria and Mission Pie were our favourites.
Staying here gave us the feeling that we were actually living in San Fransisco instead of just visiting as tourists. Highly recommended.
