About This Listing
Visit the great northwest! Portland offers it all. We are close to the Mt. Hood, (website hidden). Helens (volcanoes, anyone??), the lovely Oregon coast, and the Columbia River Gorge. Portland, the CITY, is a progressive, green community in the heart of the northwest. From our interesting neighborhoods to the Japanese and Chinese gardens, bike and hiking trails, museums, cultural and musical events, wine tasting...... you are certain to find many avenues to explore and then treasure the memories.
My house was built in 1926 across from beautiful Laurelhurst Park and is walkable to the city center or about about 5 minutes by bus two blocks away. Portland public transportation is efficient and accessible by bus, train and streetcar. Powell's Bookstore is a must-see and world famous and you might want to make a stop at VooDoo donuts for a taste treat. I am a vocal (!!) fan of the McMenniman brothers and their efforts to restore some of Oregon's most interesting properties! I would be glad to tell you about them.
My room is upstairs with 2 single beds. The two bathrooms are shared. I have steps and a cat and a dog so am probably not prime for people with animal allergies or accessibility issues. Wifi is available. A light breakfast is negotiable; I don't "do" coffee...........
No pets but you'll be required to pet mine!
She was clear in her directions :how to get in when she would not be there at our arrival. I left some articles there and she was prompt in informing us so we could retrieve them before leaving town.
The neighborhood was lovely; the house was very welcoming, as was Sharon.
I did miss having coffee at my disposal upon awakening.
Sharon's house is fantastic!!! We stayed three nights in the cutest room ever. The beds are the most comfortable ones I have ever slept on (when on vacation). All of our needs were met, including our dog and cat petting fix. Sharon made it easy for us to come and go as we pleased and provided excellent referrals for shops and restaurants. I plan on staying here every time I come back to Portland! The location is so convenient to downtown and Hawrhorne adventures! Thanks Sharon!
Sharon was awesome and friendly and the beds were so comfy. Such an awesome stay. :(
Sharon was very welcoming and helpful to provide advice about the city. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was great--gorgeous, quiet, and close to a lot of things to do, plus close to good public transit and downtown.
To put it simply, staying with Sharon was wonderful. Her home is charming and full of character -- from tiny teacups hidden in a tree to sassy signs on a bulletin board, there was something to discover around every corner. Sharon had another (lovely) renter at the time, but sharing the two bathrooms was never a problem. I was traveling with a friend and my teenage cousin, and we all felt comfortable and very much at home.
As a hostess, Sharon was flexible, welcoming and easy to talk to. I wish she was my family member so I could hang out with her all the time! The neighborhood is gorgeous, parking couldn't be easier, and public transportation is easy -- a bus stop that takes you to Powell's was a block away.
Stay with Sharon -- you won't regret it! And give chin scratches to Lily and Manja for me (but not to Sharon, that might be weird!).
