Visit the great northwest! Portland offers it all. We are close to the Mt. Hood, (website hidden). Helens (volcanoes, anyone??), the lovely Oregon coast, and the Columbia River Gorge. Portland, the CITY, is a progressive, green community in the heart of the northwest. From our interesting neighborhoods to the Japanese and Chinese gardens, bike and hiking trails, museums, cultural and musical events, wine tasting...... you are certain to find many avenues to explore and then treasure the memories.
My house was built in 1926 across from beautiful Laurelhurst Park and is walkable to the city center or about about 5 minutes by bus two blocks away. Portland public transportation is efficient and accessible by bus, train and streetcar. Powell's Bookstore is a must-see and world famous and you might want to make a stop at VooDoo donuts for a taste treat. I am a vocal (!!) fan of the McMenniman brothers and their efforts to restore some of Oregon's most interesting properties! I would be glad to tell you about them.
My room is upstairs with 2 single beds. The two bathrooms are shared. I have steps and a cat and a dog so am probably not prime for people with animal allergies or accessibility issues. Wifi is available. A light breakfast is negotiable; I don't "do" coffee...........
No pets but you'll be required to pet mine!
Sharon gave us the perfect Portland experience!! Her home is in a beautiful neighborhood with the most lovely park! Her garden and home are so warm and filled with her personality! The room was exactly what we were looking for- we highly suggest staying here!
Good communication prior to arrival, appreciated flexibility. Very friendly.
House beautiful, great neighborhood, would love to return! Magical garden
Nice older home in great location. Sharon is flexible and accommodating. Make sure you note that you do not have a private bathroom.
The hospitality and accommodations were fantastic. We had the ability to come as go as we pleased. The amenities were good as well. What a beautiful area of the city and home. We spent most of our time just walking around Sharon's neighborhood.
Sharon has the most beautiful house, from the garden to all the lovely decor inside. The room was comfortable and full of books and information on everything to do in and out of Portland. She even had a book on the Columbia River Gorge waiting for me on my bed since she knew I was visiting Multnomah Falls! She was a pleasure to chat with and had lots of extra tips on Portland's many great places to see. The location was perfect for what I wanted to do, close to everything. The icing on the cake was her animals, particularly her sweet dog Lily.
Great stay, highly recommended!
Sharon's home is a hidden gem. The home is located in a very convenient and quiet neighborhood, close to the wonderful Laurelhurst Market, a large park to take a run or walk her beloved dog, and a tranquil view of her property with its many trees.
On the few occasions that I did see Sharon, she was absolutely warm and engaging and made me feel like a member of her family. I enjoyed being able to drink tea and talk with her and share stories of our similar travels. Her neighbors were fun to meet and everyone was so nice!
I look forward to returning to visit and staying with Sharon again.
I was surprised by how many good reviews there were for Sharon. That's why I chose this house. Now after staying here for 4 nights. I know. The house is great! She was so helpful and met our needs for shampoo, towels, and toothpaste. This is great! I recommend anyone to stay with Sharon to have a great experience!
