Zoe and her daughter Maya welcomed us warmly….and with cake.! Friendly, easygoing people, who have worked hard to make the Mill as lovely as it is. The house is gorgeously and eclectically decorated, and is full of creative personality. The bathroom is a particular delight. Our room was cosy and light, with a fine comfortable bed. The ladies gave us space to do our own cooking, and sometimes we all ate together. Zoe's delicious artworks adorn the walls; alive with the colours and impressions inspired by the land. The walks by the river, and up towards the source are stunning. The Mill is remote, and there is a village nearby. Several degrees cooler up here than down in the Aude valley. So just perfect for belting hot summers, to escape to the mountain breezes. We were fortunate to meet some of Zoe's friends at dinner one night; some fascinating conversation. Our 3 nights were not enough to soak up the atmosphere and uniquely lovely energies of this location. Zoe is a great host; she's thought of everything, but it's all done with a light touch - and her warmth and humour brighten the whole place.
Lovely stay with a very welcoming and interesting family. It was all that other guests have mentioned (lots of rave reviews!) and more. Felt like we were staying with friends. There are dozens of places to visit nearby - Jerome was so happy to finally see the Cathare castles, and thanks a lot for your tip about the hot spring- fed pool at Rennes les Bains and the marché at Esperaza. It was great to be able to get a meal there too (out of season it's not so easy to find places nearby open in the evening) and the food was delicious. Love the artsy bathroom too. Thanks a lot Zoe and Maya!
I loved staying at Zoe's in Montjoi. The Redmans were very welcoming in their beautiful house - the place is perfect to relax and switch off from the city. It is really charming, you will wake up and go to bed to the sound of the river running by. The region is great, many hikes for all, and beautiful hidden spots for swimming. The perfect place for one who needs to rest in a peaceful scenery. Zoe was very helpful, and respectful of the privacy while always being inviting and available to give tips and recommend activities and sights. I highly recommend, and I will return for sure.

About the Host, Zoe
Welcome to the Moulin de la Conque.
I came to rural France over 20 years ago from London with my two young children. Leaving behind family, friends and my creative career.Over the years continuing my artistic pursuits and deepening my knowledge and connection in living in the wilds!!
My children are now grown-up and love it here too. They both invest lots of energy and time making it the vibrant and thriving place it is and will continue to become.
Both love the organic garden and this year we are preparing for...a non stop flow of delicious vegetables...which we can offer to our Airbnb guests. Delightfully it is always much appreciated. Gratitude to Airbnb for bringing such lovely guests here that enjoy and share our simple and eccentric way of life.
For those who would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life ... here is a perfect place to land !!
Theres lots to visit ...the Cathar castles, villages like Rennes le Chateau
or Bugarach full of history and mystery. A wonderful place to hike.
The Moulin de la Conque in its inspiring setting is the home to my passions; art, meditation, music, organic gardening, eco-living, sustainability and exchanging with people on a heart to heart level. You are welcome to share ....
