About This Listing
Quiet setting, small development and a fast moving river out back make for a perfect get-away in the White Mountains. Booking with us, pays for assisted living for our dad, a WWII veteran of Pearl Harbor!
We've owned this condo for 10 years and have shared it with guests who keep coming back. The income from these rentals provides care for my dad who is 96 years old and a veteran of Pearl Harbor. He's got an amazing attitude and is full of life. He swims everyday, is an artist and an emma-award winning cinematographer. But enough about him!
In the summer months there is amazing hiking, exploring, shopping and Storyland for the kids. In the winter, we're surrounded by several ski resorts, the closest of which is Attitash, but there is also Cranmore, Wildcat and Bear Mountain too. But the Fall is the most colorful time of year.
Our 3 bedroom condo sleeps a max of 8 people (assuming some are sharing beds)!
The master bedroom/bath has a king-sized, Tempurpedic bed (it's actually twin beds pushed together with King pads, sheets, etc.) The master bath has a Jacuzzi tub and a separate shower.
The second bedroom has a platform bed with a super thick Foam mattress on it, and is like sleeping on a cloud. Firm, but comfortable. The second bedroom has it's own bathroom.
The loft on the third floor has two twin beds and a double bed in it. It's a great place to put the kids so that they have their own space. It is hot up there, so a fan is recommended in the summer. There is 1 fan in the house and a ceiling fan in the room.
The Saco river is just behind the condo and there are stairs going right down into it in our own backyard. Just up the path, beyond Will's Inn, is an entry so that fans of tubing can hop in, ride some great rapids (small) and get out at our stairs. Our guests enjoy doing that over and over again as the afternoon wears on. For those who'd like to simply splash around and stay cool, there are very shallow pools of water just across the 30 foot river that are perfect for sunbathing and relaxing.
North Conway has great outlet shopping and restaurants for those who don't want to let the day pass without getting out!
There is bus service to North Conway from Boston & Portsmouth.
The condo is available during ski season, but it's most fun in the summer with great hiking, shopping and exploring nearby.
The condo association has only 9 units and there is a bed and breakfast inn on the property as well. This is a very quiet, owner-occupied complex with no small children on a regular basis. Most of the kids on the property are guests of the inn. The majority of owners either have grown children or small grandchildren who visit occasionally. We are a very close-knit community which makes this a perfect refuge for those seeking a retreat from the world.
Guests have access to Washer/Dryer, Cable, Jacuzzi Tub, Fireplace, Gas Grill, etc. and the best part is the Saco river!
We are very communicative and respond within 24 hours to all inquiries and questions. We are available during your visit by phone.
The home is located in Glen, NH... it's 6 miles from downtown N. Conway where all the shopping and many restaurants are, but if you don't like crowds or people, ours is the perfect hide-out. There's a grocery store that is supplied by Hannafords just down the street, a Family Dollar store nearby and very good restaurants. You could stay at our place and never need to go to Conway if you didn't want to.
There is no convenient public transportation.
The condo is currently for sale. Please leave it in good condition on the off chance the realtor wants to show it before the housekeeper gets a chance to get in there.
There are two parking spaces available for guests in front of the condo during the summer and only 1 with remote (across the street) parking in the winter.
Guests are asked to bring their own linens and towels if they are staying for less than 1 week.
Cleaning service is $75 and is required to be left in cash upon departure. It is NOT included in the rental fee paid through AirBnB.
There is no smoking in the condo or on the property.
This isn't a "party" condo. The neighbors have permission to call the police for excessive noise and guests will be asked to vacate the premises without refund of any deposits.
Our neighbors have asked that the garbage be put IN the dumpster next to Unit 1. We have bears in the area and they LOVE a plastic bag. You will be required to text a picture of the open dumpster with your garbage in it in order to avoid a $25 fee taken from your deposit to assist in paying for the clean up... If you can't send a picture of the dumpster, than please call us when you've confirmed the garbage is IN the dumpster. (inconvenient, but it's the only way we can keep renting our beautiful place - thanks for understanding)
Lisa was quick to respond to my email and text. She was a great host.
We loved sending her the garbage photos, peace of mind for her.
We were in the last week of April and it was very quiet, no-one else around.
There is a beautiful river just outside the glass in the living room, and a staircase down to it, what a lovely spot to sit for as bit.
Off the bat Lisa was very open and flexible with our stay. She even suggested we can stay late on our last day -- New years day --since we may be up late the night before. Our stay was really enjoyable. Our group of 7 -who fit very comfortably in this nice condo- went up to to New Hampshire for some winter sports. The weather didn't corporate for the first few days so it was great to have a nice place to base out of. Even when we had a little mishap in the condo which we took care of, Lisa was very understanding and worked with us to make everything better. the location could not have been better for our needs, the gear-shop in North Conway was just over 15 mins away, the climbing was only 15 minutes away and there's a ski resort just down the road.
We had a very pleasant stay in Lisa's comfortable and well equipped property in North (website hidden) It is in a delightful location on the banks of the Saco river. It is conveniently located for a ride on the North Conway Notch Train and not far from the Kancamagus Highway and also the Franconia Notch State Park with the Cannon Mountain Aerial Highway and Flume gorge. It is a lovely place in a lovely location.
Lisa was a great host. The house was as described and we had a lovely fall getaway. Very peaceful and quiet location with easy access to everything (including StoryLand). There was a slight problem with the water temp and Lisa promptly addressed it. I would recommend Lisa's house to others looking for a summer, fall or ski getaway.
We really enjoyed our 3 day getaway in NH. Since it was between seasons we just wanted a place we could hang with some old friends visiting from the west coast. The house was well situated, well equipped, and comfortable. Lisa was very accommodating by allowing us to use her linens. She was also extremely responsive when I contacted her with any questions. The condo was clean, but could use some upkeep in maintenance. Since it's listed for sale, I am guessing they don't want to put any money into it. Most of the issues were cosmetic though and not necessity. The property is beautiful with the river running through. It was well equipped with good working appliances and electronics, though the TVs never went on and the beautiful fireplace was the central focus of our stay. Our biggest complaint was we could not find a can opener!
We had a great stay. The place was clean and beautiful. We enjoyed the Saco River and the hammock, which were just steps away. We were able to access the fireplace and the grill, which were a plus.
The condo was very much as described and a good location for hiking in Pinkham Notch and Crawford Notch. Very convenient that there is a grocery store so close by. While it is very close to the road, you truly don't hear road noise because the sound of the stream is so pleasant. Lisa was very responsive and we had a really nice, though short, stay.
About the Host, Lisa
We are from Gloucester, MA, married for 27 years, no kids, two dogs. I own my own business educating people on their right to choose green electricity in deregulated states (MA, IL, NY, NJ, CT, MD & PA). My husband is a digital print-press operator in town. We're fiercely devoted to the concept of "shop local" and keeping profits in our own communities. We buy our goods and services from friends when that's possible (Avon, Pampered Chef, Viridian Electricity etc.).
In our spare time, Ev plays guitar and bass in a band (Roots 66) and at a "barn jam" that meets bi-monthly. He loves his music and also loves to make beer.
I enjoy knitting, spending time with friends and family and teaching people how to (un)cook a RAW foods diet. I have a passion for the markets (options and futures) and manage online trading groups for TDAmeritrade.
We spend as much time as possible at our place in N. Conway, NH and LOVE jumping in the river behind the house to cool off in the heat of the summer.
This rental property helps to support my 95 y/o father who fought at Pearl Harbor and is now residing at an Assisted Living facility. He swims everyday and LOVES his family. He married his college sweetheart 9 years ago after they both lost their spouses after long marriages. He loves the country and especially loves this home. However, he's happy to be able to swim outdoors, everyday, now that he's in FL!
