You are welcome to stay in a bright, comfortable room in a funky green home close to the Perth CBD, public transport, river walks and the trendy Mt Lawley cafe strip. Your spacious room comes with eclectic decor and artwork, a comfortable queen-size bed and a Mac computer with reliable wifi. The bathroom is directly opposite your room.
Our property has a huge wild backyard with a mini eucalyptus forest, productive banana trees and 2 natural springs. The benches in our kitchen are made of wood from a Queensland Mahogany planted in our yard over 27 years ago. A balcony set in the treetops is a perfect spot to take in the unique surroundings.
Breakfast is basic 'help-yourself' and includes a choice of muesli, toast and eggs. A range of teas and (plunger) coffee is available at any time. You are welcome to use the kitchen any time, including the Thermomix! All linen and towels are provided.
Our home is semi-detached - the duplex next door is also available for short stays on Airbnb (see our 2nd listing). Ten years ago we built (with our own hands!) our master bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Oliva, our loveable 17yo hipster son, lives upstairs and speaks pretty good Italian. Lola, our golden cocker spaniel, will also delight!
Our solar-powered electricity, rain water collection, recycling and composting will appeal to guests seeking green-accommodation.
The Swan River is at the end of our street ~ a gorgeous walk (or bike ride) in one direction takes you to the free CAT bus in East Perth, inlet cafes, Perth City Farm* and the Perth CBD. The pathway in the other direction meanders for miles through wetlands and parks. Our canoe, called 'Carrot', and a range of push bikes & helmets are available to use.
The duplex is just 10mins drive from the domestic airport (20mins from the international) and 3mins from the interstate train station. Off road parking is available at the front of the duplex.
* Perth City Farm has a fabulous coffee shop and organic produce markets on every Saturday from 7am - noon.
We stayed with Linda, Ian, Oli and Lola for just over two weeks while house hunting in Perth. The family is absolutely lovely and from the beginning we felt as though we were staying with good friends. We stayed both in the 'unique home' and the 'eclectic room' as the unique home had already been booked for part of our stay. Both the self-contained apartment and the big room in Linda and Ian's house were spotlessly clean, comfortable and private.
There is a lovely park with a jetty two minutes walk away and the Mount Lawley cafe strip is not far away either. We walked into the city for a Fringe show in 40mins and drove to the dog beach at Scarborough in 20 mins.
Staying at Linda and Ian's beautiful home has been a wonderful introduction to Perth for us. We already miss the shady garden (possibly the only green we've seen since moving to Perth), the comfortable bed, the gas kitchen (our new kitchen is electric and it took me fifteen minutes to cook an egg this morning) and the breezy balcony. Somehow it stays cool at Linda and Ian's, though the rest of the city is blistering.
Our dog Keen already misses floppy-eared Lola and is moping about with nobody to play with.
Linda and Ian are wonderful hosts and have a lovely place in a great location. A couple of points worth bearing in mind: the bathroom is shared and there is no aircon in the bedroom so, if you hit Perth in a heatwave, it can be quite hot. But a great experience overall.
Staying in Lindas and Ians house was a very special experience.
The house is sooo exceptionally, lovely, creativ and harmoniously that I didn´t want to go out. And after all Linda and Ian are so interessting special people that you would like to stay longer.
I spent a fantastic 6 nights with Linda and Ian and felt as if I was part of the family. Even when their friends came to stay I was included in meals and activities. Their hospitality and generosity were fantastic and conversation was so easy. Linda was extremely helpful in taking me to some markets and train stations until I became familiar with the area. The house was in a fabulous location for a visitor, with a stunning walk along the Swan River to get into the CBD or a 5 minute walk to the train. In many ways I was sorry to leave so I would definitely recommend a stay here.
Perfect! Lovely house and easy stay! Recommended!! Looking forward to meeting the hosts when I do another Perth trip as they were away when I stayed. ( even so, they made my stay easy)
I had a wonderful time staying with Linda and Ian & co. -- I was only there for a night but wish I could have stayed longer. Both house and hosts were warm and welcoming, and if you appreciate art and design you'll especially delight in this place. A quick train ride to Perth CBD is a 5-minute walk and about a 10-15 minute walk to the main street of Mount Lawley makes it a nice location for those interested in a more local side of the city. Would definitely stay here again!
Awesome home and great hosts. Very welcoming, engaging and loving environment. A true home from home. Highly recommended place to stay.
Linda and Ian were wonderful hosts! They let us help ourselves to tea and breakfast fixings in their kitchen and were very helpful to suggest transit routes into the city. The room is quite spacious and the bed is very comfy. We had a lovely stay and Lola made such a huge impression on us, I don't think we will ever get over her!
Linda and Ian!
What a pleasure and privilege to stay with such awesome people, we were well tended to, always made welcome and shown the sights of Perth, and even were picked up by Linda in the CBD!
House is very cool and the room impeccable (and the bed is extremely comfortable).
Would recommend highly.
This is the first time I use Airbnb and it has been absolutely amazing!. I just moved to Perth, and Linda, Ian, and their son Oli (and lovely Lola) have been wonderful to me in many ways: they have been helpful, generous, thoughtful and have looked after me completely. The room as advertised is spacious, colourful, clean, warm and with an amazing big comfy bed. Hooray! For me it is so important to have a nice bed and a good sleep.
My experience in this continent has been extraordinary so far, thanks to this amazing family.
