About This Listing
You are welcome to stay in a bright, comfortable room in a funky green home close to the Perth CBD, public transport, river walks and the trendy Mt Lawley cafe strip. Your spacious room comes with eclectic decor and artwork, a comfortable queen-size bed and a Mac computer with reliable wifi. The bathroom is directly opposite your room.
Our property has a huge wild backyard with a mini eucalyptus forest, productive banana trees and 2 natural springs. The benches in our kitchen are made of wood from a Queensland Mahogany planted in our yard over 27 years ago. A balcony set in the treetops is a perfect spot to take in the unique surroundings.
Breakfast is basic 'help-yourself' and includes a choice of muesli, toast and eggs. A range of teas and (plunger) coffee is available at any time. You are welcome to use the kitchen any time, including the Thermomix! All linen and towels are provided.
Our home is semi-detached - the duplex next door is also available for short stays on Airbnb (see our 2nd listing). Ten years ago we built (with our own hands!) our master bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Oliva, our loveable 17yo hipster son, lives upstairs and speaks pretty good Italian. Lola, our golden cocker spaniel, will also delight!
Our solar-powered electricity, rain water collection, recycling and composting will appeal to guests seeking green-accommodation.
The Swan River is at the end of our street ~ a gorgeous walk (or bike ride) in one direction takes you to the free CAT bus in East Perth, inlet cafes, Perth City Farm* and the Perth CBD. The pathway in the other direction meanders for miles through wetlands and parks. Our canoe, called 'Carrot', and a range of push bikes & helmets are available to use.
The duplex is just 10mins drive from the domestic airport (20mins from the international) and 3mins from the interstate train station. Off road parking is available at the front of the duplex.
* Perth City Farm has a fabulous coffee shop and organic produce markets on every Saturday from 7am - noon.
Always a great experience. Its not the first time I have stayed here (Cheetah cave) and hopefully will not be my last! Thanks Linda, see you next time.
Linda was a great host with a lovely family who went out of there way to make us feel welcome in their home :) we especially loved the home made sourdough and butter. Linda was also very helpful when we were planning the next part of our trip and even gave us a lift to our next accommodation! We will definitely be keeping in contact :)
Beautiful house in a beautiful quite area of mt lawley, immaculate, very comfortable rooms. Great bike ride along the swan to the cbd or a 10min walk to plenty of restaurants and cafes in beaufort st. . Linda an Ian were awesome hosts, the garden and the terraces are perfect for relaxing. About the Host, Linda
Hi I'm Linda and I live with my husband Ian, our 18yo son Oli and our golden cocker spaniel Lola on a wonderful patch of Earth in Mt Lawley not far from the Perth CBD.
We love sharing our home of 30 years with visitors and the 'fix rather than replace' motto we've used to decorate and maintain it and our other Airbnb listings. It means they are quirky as well as comfy and all with a low planetary foot-print : ) We're especially love the benches in our kitchen which are crafted from timber milled from a tree we planted over our 29yo son's placenta soon after we moved in.
We also love yoga (bikram and yin), meditation, being resourceful, designing houses, listening to music (most sorts), movies (making & writing them occasionally too!) and karaoke-for-therapy. We are conscious consumers and choose fair trade, socially just, sustainable and organic options as much as we can.
Our 1st experience of Airbnb was in New York in 2012 where we stayed on a heritage-listed ferry boat anchored in New Jersey - the hosts were wonderful and the views from the ferry of the Manhattan skyline were amazing!!!
We love Airbnb because it's contributing to the development of the 'new currency of reputation and trust'. There's a couple of powerful TED talks by Rachel Botsman on 'collaborative consumption' that you might like to check out on Youtube - the most recent one talks about Airbnb.
We have 3 Airbnb listings : a funky room, a self-contained duplex and the Cheetah Cave! Please check them out and if you're interested to book please be in touch with any questions.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon : )
