  • Chip was a great host. Very friendly and personable with a knack for knowing when to be around and when to be scarce. His breakfasts were outstanding! The house is very interesting. There's plenty of parking which is helpful in Providence and the whole place is (email hidden) in antique museum. The only "note" I'd give prospective renters which I hadn't seen in any of the other reviews is that house is in what appears to be a turning over neighborhood. Lots of street people activity on the main drag a block from the house during the day. However to be sure the area was very quiet and seemed perfectly safe at night.

  • It is really difficult to praise Chip highly enough. The breakfasts were a thing of beauty, and I'm not normally a breakfast eater. I felt welcome, and my only regret was how little time I had to enjoy this jewel of a house. It is only a few blocks from downtown Providence and had it not been quite as cold as it was, I would happily have walked. Had a great recommendation for dinner and best of all Chip even searched out some music for me to play on the lovely piano on Sunday morning. This was so much better than travelling anonymously and staying in a place without character. This was a gem. Shouldn't be a stop-over but a destination!

  • Chip was a very warm and generous host. I loved his grandiose house and furnishing. The breakfast, was just the cherry on top. Thank you so much, Chip, for your generosity of spirit!

  • Chip was great, as was his home. He provided unexpected wonderful breakfasts and great conversation. My wife and I were in Providence to visit our son, and hope we will be able to stay with Chip again around graduation in the middle of next year.

  • I highly recommend staying at this Providence beauty. As my boyfriend and I entered the home of Chip, we both remarked on how much of an "oasis" it is. It is a true gem in the rough- and from the outside of the building (which is lovely in itself), one would not expect that grandiosity that greets those who enter. The decor and architecture are unique and intriguing to the mind and soul alike. Chip himself is a truly kind, interesting, and flexible human being, the room was private and comfortable (we felt like we were staying in an extravagant home a hundred years in the past), and a carefully prepared and tasty/healthy breakfast. A GREAT getaway, and experience. Thanks again!

  • Chip lived up to his reputation for graciousness and warmth, and greeted us kindly on arrival, somewhat later than planned. His house is beyond fabulous and we were encouraged to explore all the public spaces and enjoy the ambiance. Our room was comfortable, the linens exquisite, with every comfort we could think to need. Breakfast was also a joy to behold, and he even accommodated my vegetarian daughter. Frankly, why would you want to stay any where else?

  • Chip was extremely accommodating and a true pleasure to talk to! Made my first visit to Providence and RISD more enjoyable than I ever would have anticipated. His house is absolutely beautiful and the breakfast he cooked for me and his other guests was fantastic. Will definitely pay him a visit next time I'm in the area!
