Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Our family cabin is located in the small historic town of Raymond in the heart of the Sierra foothills, 39.2 miles from the southern entrance of Yosemite National Park. The newly built cabin features modern conveniences with a rustic feel.  Experience breathtaking views, beautiful sunsets, hiking, a seasonal creek, an abundance of wildlife, and incredible rock formations to explore.  Up to 2 horses are welcome in our 2 corrals.

See also our larger cabin - Hafkey Cabin Escape 2, located nearby.

The space
The Hafkey Cabin Escape is modern and private except for the abundance of wildlife you are likely to see, such as flocks of turkeys, deer, hawks, bobcats, coyotes, raccoons, and even some free grazing cows during the green season. Our tranquil cabin is situated on 40 acres of rolling foothills and is surrounded by hundreds more.

Cabin 1 is 916 square feet and has 1-bedroom and 1-bath. The cabin is small but features three queen beds in the following three separate spaces: a private bedroom, a living room, and an open loft. It is a low sleeping loft designed more for children but spacious enough for its queen bed and two twin-size foam floor mats with sleeping bags.

If you are looking for a bit more space, see also the Hafkey Cabin Escape 2, which is located about a 1/4 mile away. It is 1280 square feet and has 2-bedrooms, 2-baths and a larger sleeping loft.

Guest access
If you are looking for tranquility, views, and wildlife, this is it. Guests can hike, bike and ride horses in all areas not fenced. There is a large olive grove from the 1800's adjacent to the property.

Other things to note
Our base rate includes up to four guests. We charge $25 for each additional guest per night. The total number of guests must be disclosed at time of booking. Up to two dogs are permitted for a $100 pet fee.

Travel to Yosemite National Park:

Although we are relatively close to the southern entrance, the park is massive and winding roads and slow traffic increase travel time substantially. Give yourself at least an hour to reach the entrance from our cabin and additional time to reach popular locations within the park. The Mariposa Grove (giant sequoias) is near the southern entrance. Also, Yosemite National Park does require reservations during most of the summer during certain hours, so be sure to visit their website for particulars.

Kids should be supervised at all times, especially during the rainy season, as there is a seasonal creek and ponds located nearby. There are also rock formations and small caves on the property which can be occupied by wildlife.

We have more detailed information about things to do in and around Raymond, as well as its history on our website (available after booking).

Neighborhood highlights

Raymond hasn't changed much in over 100 years.  There is an abundance of rolling hills of grass, oaks, pines and granite rock formations.

Although fires have taken many of its historical buildings over the decades, the town still maintains a General Store from the 1890s and an old saloon called the Frontier Inn Tavern.  It's run by a retired firefighter and features $3 draft beer in an ice-cold 18oz mug with a big green olive!

Also nearby are fantastic museums, wineries, breweries, trailheads, parks, and lakes. Giant Sequoias are within an hour's drive. San Francisco, Sacramento, and NAPA Valley are about 2 1/2 hours away.
