The Space

Share my quiet, peaceful, energy efficient, sustainable materials, rainwater capture home with me, a retiree, energy worker, lover of travel, adventure, hiking, gardening, cooking, reading and creating, and my dog: Australian Shepherd puppy Georgia. I am merely minutes. from I-10 Hwy to go anywhere: Downtown museums, music venues, restaurants and bars, U of A,, Desert Museum, Tohno Chul Park, Mt. Lemon, restaurants, golf courses and hiking trails including a trail head at the end of the road.... Return to this tranquil refuge in the desert with hammocks, pergola, fire pit, organic garden, solar,10K rainwater cistern, covered patio with outdoor kitchen, fan and eating, seasonal outdoor shower, 2 private bedrooms each sleeps 2; if both rooms are occupied you share the 1 bathroom. Wifi, cable, covered pking. During the day keep your eyes peeled for hawks, bobcats, javelinas, quail and road runners. In the evening relax under the pergola, watch the pool water reflections. Have a drink as the mountains turn pink. Then listen to the coyotes howl in the nearby wash as you look up at the star filled black sky. Ahhh, ain't it grand in the desert. This is a queen bed for max. two people.

It's feeling of quiet, peaceful remoteness, yet total convenience to anywhere in Tucson because of its close proximity to I-10.

There is public transit, buses and trolley, in central Tucson. There are car rentals, cabs, uber and lift available.

Other Things to Note

I am very near two trailheads, one hiking, one hiking and biking.

  • Wonderful host. Kate was warm and welcoming. Her desert oasis is a must for any Tucson visitor.

  • What a fantastic getaway we had at Kate's beautiful home. The beds are cozy and comfy, the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, her dogs are the two happiest dogs we have ever seen- well behaved, happy to see you when you return, and yet, very quite! We loved the morning chats out by the pool as we had breakfast- Kate is beyond beautiful, easy to talk with and very respectful of the guests space. Thank you, Kate, we are hoping to see you again very soon.

  • What a great place to be. Thanks Kate for your hospitality, the nice dinners we've had together and the things we shared. It's a real oase you created. With this beautiful view on the mountains.

  • Kate was not only a wonderful host with a lovely home and view, she intuitively knew what I was needing. I was able to both relax and enjoy the amazing view from the hammock, while at the same time, take care of some much needed business matters. This is a "must love dogs" place and if you do, you will be given some lovely attention. After being on the road for three long years, I can honestly say that staying at Kate's was a beautiful experience on so many levels. Thank you Kate for sharing your home and yourself with so many!

  • Lovely host and home. My favorite part? Ginger and Georgia puppy kisses.

  • I just spent a wonderful week in Tucson with Kate's lovely home as my base. Kate made me feel right at home. She is so friendly, and was happy to help me with finding things around town (restaurant, grocery). The house is absolutely fabulous - situated a few miles from downtown, quiet and peaceful. I loved hanging out on the back patio by the pool, and the guest bathroom is gorgeous (you'll feel pampered). Kate was the perfect host and her place is a home away from home.

  • The hostess with the mostest! Kate was both gracious and generous. Her home is lovely and the dogs are friendly. We felt like we were visiting a friend-is there anything better?! Sitting by the pool in the morning sun while on the phone to folks back home hearing about the 36 inches of snow that has just fallen is a lovely experience. Her prickly pear cocktails were one of the highlights of our trip. Hiking is just around the corner, and dining and shopping are easily accessible by car. An all around wonderful experience!

  • Kate's place is wonderful in every way! She has a beautiful home on 2 or so acres in Tucson with a beautiful view of the mountains. We had such a delightful evening getting to know Kate that we didn't take the time to use the pool or the hot tub out back, but they were beautiful as is her landscaping and everything about her meticulous home. Kate has two very lively, friendly dogs that I particularly enjoyed as I had left my dog back home and was feeling a bit homesick for her. She has kennels for these dogs for those who do not want the dogs close at hand. I can't say enough about this woman's graciousness as a hostess or as a fellow human being. My only regret is that we do not live closer as I am sure that I have found a friend in Kate. If you have any indecision about staying at Kate's, don't. It is truly a great find! You won't be sorry that you did.

  • We had a lovely, one-night stay in Kate's welcoming home and were immediately at ease in her company. She is a lovely, warm and friendly host and we really enjoyed her company and conversation. Her advice on what to see in the area on such a short trip proved invaluable and we were so glad we followed it, since it meant we visited areas we hadn't known about when we arrived. Kate generously cooked us a delicious breakfast before we departed, which was much appreciated!

  • A warm and friendly place with a beautiful view of the mountains and desert. I decided to extend a Phoenix business trip to heat up my bones in Tucson. So happy I found Kate! She is kind and friendly and knows how to give you space to let you breathe.

I took advantage of her gorgeous hot tub, dipped my legs in the pool, and swung in the sun in a super comfortable hammock until I was good and hot!

My bed was very comfortable, the bathroom lovely and the kitchen well appointed. Coffee was fresh when I woke up and Suguaro National Park West minutes away by car, so I drove to the trailhead and hiked amongst the cacti for over an hour for my morning walk. When I got back, Kate had made a delicious bowl of soup and served me lunch!

I also hired Kate for a session of craniosacral therapy before I left. She's a gifted healer. I would stay here again for sure and have already recommended Kate's place to friends in Seattle who need their day in the sun. She does have two very sweet dogs, so you need to like dogs.
