Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
Your hosts, Tom and Lisa Wallace, are happy to welcome you to The Chez' Tree Rest Treehouse, our 2 story treehouse perfectly perched under a heavily canopied scenic hillside 35' above the forest floor on 2 towering Maple trees. As you walk to the treehouse across the 60' cable bridge you will feel the stress and cares of everyday life melt away. The treehouse is 150 square feet of pure magic and the perfect spot for a romantic getaway high up in the trees.

The space
Our treehouse is located on 20 acres of hardwood forest just outside of the sleepy village of Lafayette, NY - 10 miles south of Syracuse, NY and 24 miles north of Cortland, NY. Just a very short drive to wine country and the Finger Lakes region. As you arrive at the property, you will find a large gold leaf and burgundy sign that reads “The Chez Tree Rest Treehouse “. The sign is illuminated after dark.
The treehouse itself is accessed across a 60' cable bridge. There are only a few (7) stone steps which lead down to the bridge and then it is an easy walk up to the treehouse. Below the treehouse is a large, (320 square feet), deck with a fire pit and ample seating. The deck also provides the location of the shower (with on demand hot water) and a propane BBQ grill. There is also a separate fire pit area below the treehouse which has plenty of seating and a stone edged fire ring.

In the summer of 2022, we replaced our generator with a permanent source of electricity. This has been a big improvement and allows guests more options for lighting and powering up amenities and accessories. There is hot and cold potable running water for the outdoor shower and sink in the kitchenette. There is a convenient, tiny bathroom in the treehouse with a composting toilet. There is also a small mini-fridge with a small freezer. There is also a small microwave for your use. There is a great deal of outdoor relaxing space on the treehouse level as well. There is approximately 80 square feet of decking connected to the treehouse. In addition, there is a separate 12' octagon deck that is anchored on a separate tree connected to the main deck by another 30' cable bridge.

For cooking, we provide a propane camp stove. Perfect for bacon and eggs. There is also a small microwave oven. There is also a BBQ grill on the lower deck below the treehouse. Coffee can be made by use of the provided Keurig coffeemaker, (coffee pods are provided). There is also a French Press and a traditional percolator. All the pots, pans, silverware and other utensils you should need will be provided.

Let the trees gently sway you to sleep amidst the soothing sounds of hoot owls and the babbling brook.

Potential guests might also be interested to know that we host a related listing, (Search, "Cozy and private studio apt in country setting" on Airbnb), should they have more than 2 people in their group and would like them to visit the treehouse and spend the night close by. The apartment is attached to our main house which is 1/4 mile up the hill from the treehouse. Treehouse guests will receive a discounted rate on the apartment if they book the apartment the same dates that they book the treehouse.

Guest access
You will have the entire treehouse to yourself.

Other things to note
Guests should know that cell phone coverage may be limited at the treehouse. It’s is usually fine but may be spotty.
There is a TV at the treehouse. Although there is no internet coverage or cable, there is an over the air antenna which does a fairly good job of picking up the 3 major networks (some signals are stronger than others), as well as some local public stations. In addition, there is a blue ray DVD player if you want to bring a movie. (We also have some movies there for you to check out).

Hi, my name is Tom. My wife Lisa and I have been married since 1986. In the summer, we live on a beautiful 21 acre heavily wooded property. In 2016, we had a desire to build a cool place to spend time together with family and friends. Our search brought us upon a beautiful hardwood forest. As I walked down the hill, i came upon a magical spot that needed a treehouse. We are delighted to now make the treehouse available to guests so that they can share the magic we experience when we stay there.
