Gorgeous view of the Bosphorus, stroll along the water side. Enjoy the sounds of the city at a near by cafe in Arnavutkoy or Ortakoy...
There is a public bus stop 100 m. from the property which takes you the old city or wave a cab from anywhere on the street you wish. From the Ataturk or Sabiha Gokcen Airport, easy to take the airport shuttle to Taksim and from there a short cab ride (15 min.) to the property.
Room on a Hill is not a hotel. We open our home to you as our most respected and valuable guest. Just treat it the way you would treat your own home.
It's difficult to review this fantastic place and host without repeating what others have already said many times! The room is great, just as in the pictures. The view is even more amazing in reality than in the pictures (and it looks great in the pictures!). The place is as quiet and relaxed but at the same time central as it can get in Istanbul. The terrace and garden are just wonderful. I had to stay at the room for a couple days to work on my computer, but just by looking out of the door from my desk I could see the Bosphorus and huge ships crossing it. It doesn't get any better than that!
Mrs. Kolman is a great host, everything was clean and ready when we arrived, with a large supply of water and delicious home-baked muffins. It was very interesting to learn from her about the changes in the area in the last decades, from an industrial zone to the current houses and villas (those which were not demolished). She made sure we had everything we needed and was always glad to answer our questions. It was very pleasant to talk with her while enjoying the sun on the terrace.
I would definitely like to repeat the experience!
De-light-ed! Miss Kolman was smiling, sweet and welcoming.
The location is in dreamy, quiet, yet near every major attraction the city has to offer.
If you're like me and like a room/home with character, then Mina's "Room on a Hill" is it. The place was extremely clean - in fact all the kitchenette and bathroom appear new.
I have lived in Istanbul for several years, in the same neighborhood for its trees, relative calmness and views.
The "Room on a Hill" may very well have become my home away from home when in Istanbul.
My mother came to Istanbul for the first time in 7 years and I wanted somewhere safe and serene for her to stay. She had such a wonderful time staying at Mrs. Kolmans. She walked along the bosphorus during the day and felt safe coming back at night as there is always security at the enterance. The view is absolutely fantastic and Mrs. Kolman was always there to help whenever she had questions. When she plans of coming back we will most definitely be staying here again!
The hostess of this property is a lady in the true sense of the meaning, who tries to make your stay be the best. The location is excellent, I was able to go for walks to Rumeli Hisar, right along the Bosphorus, as well as find supermarkets and shops in a short walking distance. The views from the garden of this independent efficiency are breathtaking. It is very secure and I felt comfortable in the area.
We arrived late, but were well received and welcomed by Mrs Kolman, who had stocked the kitchen with breakfast and potable water. The water lasted us four days, and was a real asset in a town where you can't drink tap water. We enjoyed taking our breakfast on her lovely terrace with the gorgeous view in the picture.
We did not spend much time in the neigbourhood, but there is a pedestrian walk along the water, just across the street, and a grocery store and some restarurants within the block.
The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and we had a good stay there.
The room looked like the pictures. we were very nicely welcomed with fresh homemade pastries. We felt very confortable during our stay.
The neighborhood is very nice, right on the bosphorus and there are many buses to the city center (10 minutes to besikstas, and then with a 10 minutes tramway drive, you reach sultanahmet). We came back each evening with a ferry boat to Arnavutkoy, which was also great to avoid the traffic.
We were very pleased with our stay and would come back here with pleasure.
Room on a Hill takes you somewhere completely different. I spent 5 days in Mrs Kolman's magical place. Mrs Kolman was so helpful and welcoming. She baked beautiful muffins for a Warm Welcome. Great location for jogging and sight-seeing. Short taxi ride to mostly everywhere. There is a local grocery shop, super market, coffee shops like Assk. Walking distance to Bebek, Ortakoy. One advice only, not too many luggage. From the road side to the house long way to climb up :) But worth to reach to the terrace. You will love this place. Thank you for sharing your heaven ;)
