Beautiful duplex in Bastille !

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine, Paris, Île-de-France 75011, France

The Space

In the Bastille district, the apartment is a duplex on the 5th floor of a beautiful 19th century building.

The duplex consists of:

- First Floor: a large space with a high ceiling and a wooden floor, consisting of : entrance, dining area, kitchen, lounge and bathroom.
- Second Floor : a bedroom and a library.

The modern bathroom is equipped with a large shower, toilet and wash basin.

In the dining area, there is a beautiful old cherry table that can accommodate at least six people. The dining room is separated from the kitchen by a beautiful solid wood counter.

The kitchen is fully equipped (oven, dishwasher, washing machine, refrigerator, freezer, kettle, blender, induction, ...). All the materials are of a high quality (De Dietrich, Magimix, Kitchen Aid, etc.).
There is everything you need to prepare a dinner for four to six people or to receive many more friends!

In the lounge there is an upright piano, a stereo (and my record collection!), a 3-seater sofa that can convert into a queen size bed, a lounge chair (armless) and a large closet.

Upstairs, there are two rooms with a logia that serves as a library, sofa and armchair, and the bedroom features a luxurious queen size bed (box spring and mattress brand Treca), a beautiful antique dresser and a wicker chair.

The apartment is bathed in light because of its height and the fact that it faces southwest. From the bedroom, the view over the rooftops of Paris, the Sacre Coeur and the Opera Bastille is magnificent. I furnished the apartment with great care, and chose the furniture and objects of high quality, making it a friendly, and very comfortable place to live.
If you come to the right season you can pick and eat the tomatoes, basil and strawberries bios that I grow in the window boxes!

The internet is very quick, available WiFi or cable.

The large courtyard is beautiful with trees, a beautiful wooden bench and a Parisian street lamp. It feels like being in the country, and although the street outside is animated, it is calm and quiet as soon as you come through the street door.

La Bastille is one of the oldest neighborhoods of artisans and artists. On 14 July 1789, the people of Paris won their freedom by taking over the citadel of La Bastille (which served as a royal prison).

The area is now one of the liveliest areas of Paris, and there are many good restaurants and trendy bars. If you like dancing, the Barrio Latino is located across the street!
For those who love cooking and eating good produce, the famous Marché Aligre is a 3 minutes walk from the apartment! There are also three grocery stores and supermarkets 200 meters from the building!
There are also many very nice shops and fashion designer fashion stores.
When touring the neighborhood on foot, you will discover many alleyways, where you will discover beautiful courtyards, hidden behind old wrought iron gates, which are full of artists' studios, art galleries and beautiful shops.

The apartment is just few steps away from the Opera Bastille, the main Parisian scenes of opera, rock, Latin music and several theaters. Something for everyone!

On foot you can reach the Marais in 5 minutes.

The area is well served by public transportation:
Subways: 1, 5 and 8
Bus: (phone number hidden)

Links to Gare de Lyon (subway 1 or a bus 91), Gare Montparnasse (bus 91), the Gare du Nord Station (subway 5 or bus 65) are direct and very fast.
It is also close to the Marais (on foot, by subway 1 or a bus 69), Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter (bus 86 or 96), Champs-Elysées / Arc de Triomphe (subway 1), Montparnasse (bus 91), Opera (bus 20), etc..

Links to airports Charles de Gaulle and Orly are also very simple and fast (40 minutes).

I love living in this apartment which is cosy and where one immediately feels at home ! It really has charm and the advantages in the area it is in, are added benefits. The only small effort is climbing the five floors, as there is no elevator... But once you're up, you are rewarded by the light, the calm and the beautiful view !
The area is also great and I will gladly give you all my favorite adresses!

  • Great location. A lot of stairs but a good workout. David was very kind and hospitable. A lot of light into the apartment. Low ceilings upstairs but a nice size flat good for a few people in a great area of Paris.

  • If you're looking for a nice, clean apartment near Le Marais, convenient for transport and night life, you've found it! David has been a great host, from the first moment I got in touch with him until the moment we checked out. I highly recommend this place.

  • Merci, David ! Nous aimons votre appartement et avons hâte d'y séjourner à nouveau. La prochaine fois, nous penserons à emporter avec nous l'un de nos ordinateurs portables pour visionner un film avec votre rétro projecteur sur votre mur "sur mesure" !

  • Our stay at David's apartment was fantastic! It was extremely clean and well-appointed, quiet, and the location was perfect--especially if you like to walk the city. David was such a gracious host and was very flexible with us on check-in and check-out as our flight landed very early in the morning. The kitchen is great for cooking and we had all of the pots, pans, knives, etc we needed (rare in a rental!) so we were able to have a few very cozy meals at "home". I can not recommend David's apartment enough, and if you do stay there be sure to ask him to listen to his cd, he is a real talent.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the duplex. The Bastille is the ideal neighbourhood for an authentic Parisian experience and the apartment is very close to the metro and many fabulous places to eat, drink coffee and people watch. The apartment was clean and exactly as pictured. The bed was delightfully comfortable & bathroom new and very clean. Despite being located on a buzzing street there was not a hint of street noise from up in the apartment. David was very quick to respond to all queries and his friend Alain was there right on time to greet us. While it is a lot of stairs to climb each day, we felt it was the perfect way to balance out days of indulging in the glorious French food. We would highly recommend Maison Karrenbauer just around the corner on rue de charonne for your morning coffee & delicious selection of pastries & the adjoining Chez Paul for an old world French bistro experience. Just one metro strop away (or a lovely stroll) is the wonderful La Favorite (cnr rue de rivoli & rue malher - St. Paul metro stop) where we were welcomed with open arms despite our lack of French language and sat for hours on many an afternoon watching the chic French masses pass by over cocktails and cheese. We would definitely stay at David's beautiful apartment again & highly recommend it.

  • David's apartment was wonderful, and he was the perfect host. With the apartment's location in Bastille it was the best place to enjoy the Parisian rather than touristy part of Paris. Really accessible, close to metros, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, bars and the growers market. David also went above and beyond in making sure we were at home and provided tips on the local area. Highly recommended!!

  • David's apartment was just like the photos but even better in person. It was clean and bright. He was very responsive via email and checking in through his friend Alain was easy and convenient. David even recommened jazz clubs to visit and provided us with directions on how to get to apt. The location of this apartment is in an ideal neighborhood, plentiful bars and restaurants, close to main metro and bus lines and a lovely stroll to le marais and all the wonderful sights (notre dame, sienne, promenade, jardin du plantees). I highly recommend staying at this duplex for it is spacious, clean and decorated quite lovely! I'd stay here again in a heart beat, it was difficult to leave!

About
Hi everybody ! My name is David and I'm 26 years old. I grew up in the countryside in village called Barbizon, near Fontainbleau, which is about a hour's drive south of Paris. My mother is an Opera Singer, but loves animals, so we were brought up with ponies, dogs cats, hens, and rabbits! My brother is also a musician and my sister is still at school but is crazy about riding horses. For the last ten years, I've lived in Paris, but I try and go back to the country on week-ends when I'm not playing in concerts. I'm a professional musician and composer; I play jazz and classical trumpet (mostly jazz !), and I'm very fortunate in that I am able to travel around the world for my career. My apartment is a very beautiful place in the Bastille, one of the liveliest districts in the center of Paris ! My hobbies, for which I'm passionate, are music, literature, sports (windsurfing, sailing, skiing) and traveling.
