My husband and I recently spent 2 very enjoyable weeks at Tsing's Maille Land accommodation. When we first booked we were a little apprehensive as this was our first experience with Airbnb but Tsing was very patient and supportive through the registration process.
The accommodation was as described, it was a beautiful little apartment with lovely furnishings. We enjoyed sitting by the infinity pool especially watching spectacular ocean sunsets .
The location was very convenient for touring other parts of the Big Island, north, south or over the Saddle Road to Hilo. We enjoyed staying in a quiet residential area, away from the busy resorts yet only 10 minutes drive to downtown Kona, and in close proximity to the airport.
Tsing was very respectful of our privacy. She was helpful in giving us travel tips. We enjoyed getting to know her and her special little dog. We would definitely use this accommodation again. Thank you Tsing for your hospitality.
My husband and I stayed at Tsing's for a week. She's a great host! Always there to answer our questions either by email, phone or text. She's also very flexible as we had late check in and check out.
The place is exactly what we had hoped for, a separate cottage with bedroom, bathroom, small kitchen and livingroom. It was nice and clean! Very peaceful. The pool is great! We watched the sunset from the pool almost every night and it looks different every night? It was amazing! The photos on the ad do not do the place justice. You'll have to see it for yourself. :)
The unit we stayed in was a separate cottage on Tsing's property. It was lovelier than the photos that were posted, with high beamed ceilings, good ventilation, and beautiful views. It was also close to everything - the harbor, a fantastic restaurant up the hill, and shopping. The bed was very comfortable! All in all it was a great place to come home to at the end of a long day.
I was on the island for a friends' wedding and therefore on the run most of the time. The location was perfect for me as I was located in-between several sets of friends. I had friends in Kona (15 minutes away) and also friends at the Mauna Kea Resort (30 minutes in the other direction).
The property was quiet just as advertised. I would say what does not get captured in the pictures on the website is that there was more room in the actual "apartment" than I expected which was nice. There are two sinks a large shower, a linen closet and a separate room for the toilet. There is a refrigerator (standard size) and microwave in the front room with a tv, couch and table. In the bed room there is a comfortable bed, a chair and chest of drawers with a large closet. It is adjoined to another room that has some seating in it as well that was nice for some reading. The pool area is lovely and looks out over Kona-Kailua.
Another thing that I liked is that while parking is on the street, it is a dead end street in a residential community. It felt secure (as secure as any place could be in a non-gated community) to me. That was a nice feeling.
I had to save the best for last...
Tsing is a wonderful and engaging hostess. Tsing and I had some wonderful conversations. She is able to suggest good places to eat and things to do. She seemed genuinely interested in me getting what I wanted out of my Hawaiian experience.
If you do an ATV/zip line adventure and would like company...you have to let her know. :) I didn't think to ask her before I went and it turns out she really wants to do this. I think it would have been tremendous fun to go with her. :)
I would suggest this listing to my family and friends and I like my family and friends. :) I hope this review gives some insight to what you would experience if you book this listing. Best wishes to you and I hope you have a lovely vacation.
We liked the place in spite of the confusions with the taxes and higher cleaning fees that took several phone calls and emails to settle. The location offers good view of the airport bay and ocean, but is not within walking distances from stores, shopping malls and restaurants.Guests would definitely need a car.
It is a Really good Place to stay there. The Appartement is well stuffed and tsing as your Host is very helpfull. WE enjoyed a Lot to Talk with her and WE have a Really nice time there.
WE have got a Lot of fun but you also can stand on your own. WE Really Hope to See her again and that we will stay in Touch with her.
A Really beautifull Place to stay. You will Need a Car for this place but on Big Island you also Need a Car to See all the beautifull and interesting places. For sleeping it is very good, because it is Not so hot like in Kona Town and you got an ironman recovery bed there !!
WE had a Really good time there and my Husband found a new mother.:)
Tsing's Maile Land is the optimal place for getting away from it all while enjoying everything close at hand: it's one of three matching residences on a beautifully groomed one-acre estate, designed as a whole and in character with the surrounding Japanese gardens, with nothing spared in the furnishings: top-quality appliances including a full-size fridge/freezer with tons of space, genuine designer wooden furniture, and plenty of light wherever I sat or lingered. And all of it spotless.
I'd just undergone emergency surgery three days before my arrival, and had a sprained ankle to boot. Maile Land was PERFECT for me, both during recovery as well as when I was ready to go out snorkeling and viewing the sights.
I slept like a babe in the luxurious Queen recovery bed: as if it was ordered especially for me! The living room couch is super comfy (I fell asleep on it more than once), and the shower is big enough for two easy! Besides, I could catch up on my e-correspondence at the dining table with my bum ankle propped on the next chair.
Plus, there is no better host than Tsing: ever so generous with her time and energy, yet so polite and circumspect that she never disturbs, and she is always willing to lend a hand whenever asked.
I will be booking a month-long return visit to Tsing's Maile Land later this year: that says it all, right?
