Private homey guesthouse surrounded by lush forest, at an elevation of 2500' with afternoon breezes and memorable sunsets, we offer a quiet retreat for only one family or group at a time. Dogs are welcome off-leash; pet fee. The guesthouse has a complete kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room with sofa bed, and shady area under the oaks; BBQ & fire-pits. Marked trails on our 160 acres of meadows & forest, along our shady creeks, lake & into nat'l forest. Nearby hot springs, swimming, falls.

The space
Forest Springs beckons guests and their pets (pet fee) to stroll its scenic trails through forest and meadow, relax in the guesthouse splash pool June 15-Sept 15 (drained and cleaned between guest groups) and in the private shady sitting areas with lounge chairs, picnic tables, BBQ, fire rings (free firewood and charcoal). Easy access to the surrounding varied forest where ferns and moss accent dogwoods, cedars, firs and majestic oaks. The living room has a sofa bed (queen), and a 40" screen with DVDs for all ages (no tv reception). The airy bedroom has a queen canopy bed and a twin, both with premium mattress sets. We use cotton linens that are unscented and dried in the fresh mountain air. The kitchen has seating and utensils for 6 people. Besides our splash pool, there is water play at a hot spring and creek 2 miles away & large lake 6 miles away. Host gladly provides maps & answers questions. Although there is no cell-phone service in this area, guests are welcome to use the host's landline (free for a brief call, or bring your phone card) and our limited satellite wifi to email (sorry, no streaming). Exact driving directions to Forest Springs will be emailed to guests upon booking. 10% Shasta County lodging tax is collected at check-in. Thank you.

Guest access
We only host one guest group at a time so guests and their pets may roam the entire property in blissful serenity. We gladly show the host's historic 1921 log house and our hydro-electric system. Guests are free to explore our historic 1895 barn and the pioneer grave site, use the rowboat, and do catch & release trout fishing on our private lake. Additional members of the guest group are welcome to pitch tents on our level, shady sites and use the camper's bathhouse. A 2nd splash pool is also available for larger groups.

Other things to note
We do not charge a cleaning fee! Instead, at check-in, we collect a REFUNDABLE cleaning deposit of $25 or more (cash or check, sorry no credit cards) that will be applied only if dishes and kitchen appliances are not left clean. No other cleaning is requested.

TAX: Airbnb does not collect tax for us. We must add the 10% Shasta County lodging tax (T.O.T) to the lodging & pet fee amounts. This is payable in cash or check (sorry, no credit cards) at check-in. The nearest ATM is an hour away...

PETS: since we only host one family or group at a time, pets are welcome off leash (at owner's risk) anywhere except in fenced garden (reserved for our dog and 2 cats). At check-in, we collect a pet fee of $10 per dog, per night ($5 per dog < 10 lbs) plus tax, for up to 3 dogs with no size / weight limit. Please inquire for other instances or pets. Thank you. Our dog is a very friendly spayed Australian Shepherd, a great trail dog who loves people and dogs.

We are at the end of the road in the national forest with walking trails leading off our 160 acres into the surrounding forested lands. We have our own creek and little lake. Nearby but off the property are hot springs, more streams and a large lake. An hour's drive away is awesome Burney Falls State Park. And more!
