Check In
  • Nice home with bohemian vibe and very close to the ocean. Great getaway for a relaxing weekend although, the town itself does not have many options (or anything to do.) 3 restaurants that close early.

  • I love driving that stretch of Hwy 1 between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. Now I have another great reason to stop in Davenport, besides goodies at the bakery or omelettes at the Roadhouse. My daughter and I had a wonderful overnight stay at Michael's. We were both familiar with the little town of Davenport, but unaware of the airbnb right there by the Roadhouse Inn and the Bakery until our stay Tuesday. We enjoyed a blues band and a supper next door before we settled in for a relaxing time at Michael's.
The house is funky chic, clean and comfortable. In the morning we sat on the front glassed in porch with our breakfast, enjoying the sun and fresh air. We took a walk to the beach, which was ours. (Okay, it was a Wednesday, not the weekend.)
We met our host, Michael around noon, who let us look at the bungalow and studio behind the house, all connected by broken-granite pathways and painted gates. There is enough outdoor space to bring a big group and sleep 16. You can even borrow boogie boards and wetsuits.
I like the art, metal work, the pottery with succulents and paintings everywhere. It is very Santa Cruz, yet clean and functional.
My daughter is already planning a time to bring friends for a coastal get together and enjoy the Bonny Doon tasting room next door.
We were very happy with the accommodations and the location. The only reason I might not want to give a high review is to not let the word get out. This is a little coastal gem.

  • We loved staying in Michael's very arty apartment. The beach across the road is great and the Whales Cafe next door did brilliant breakfasts and picnic supplies.

  • The house is brilliantly located and looks beautifull, Michael is an easy-going host - we had a great time!

  • My friends and I had a wonderful experience in the bungalow behind the main house of Micheal's place. It was a very pleasant surprise to see how well it accommodated the 5 of us and we had a lot of fun visiting the local beaches and swimming holes of the area. This place is a great experience and kind host for a bargain. Why stay in a stuffy hotel room when you could stay here?

  • Like other reviewers have said- Davenport is a beautiful little beach town. Our family of four stayed in Michael's back house. It was perfect for us. Michael was an amazing host- and gave us great advice on where to find the best local beaches and where to get fresh fish and food. We really enjoyed our trip!

A little bit of everything
Hey there folks, my name is Michael. I operate a small villa with a front private house , a one bedroom bungalow in the back and other side studios, some self contained and others with shared bath and kitchen. We usually have an eclectic type of person that stays here, mostly artists, musicians, and alternative, progressive thinkers. These interesting people are drawn to this electric area maybe because we have giant redwood trees behind us and the Pacific Ocean in front of us. I live here and it's my job to make sure everyone is happy. Some nights the whole place will be full of travelers eating together, playing music, and telling story. Other nights a quite family of four arrives just to get away from the New York winter. In Davenport with a population of three hundred you get to know everybody quick. The local pub and bakery have two community events every week its quite a hoot. I'm 40 and love the area , born and raised in these hills and know every great hiking trail, every great surf spot, every great and marvelous thing to do and see in this area. We have a fun basket of toys and game equipment thats been donated by travelers and has accumulated over time , so we have wet suits and surf boards to frisbees and golf clubs. My days are full tending to the traveler and everyday I'm grateful to have the opportunity to share with people the villa space and all the beautiful things this area has to offer. This has taken almost half a life time to attain. I have traveled the world and lived in other places but I always find myself back in the Santa Cruz area. I know it, love it, and have this great job of sharing it. If anyone out there wants the front line tour, I can accommodate or if you just choose a cozy private night by the fire i can accommodate that. Like the beat of the ocean outside the villa, we march to our happy places that pull us away from our everyday grind, and I believe, this is the marching grounds for peace, happiness, well being, and adventure.... see ya soon Michael
