Unplug from your life and escape to nature for mountain views and river access! Stay in a Conestoga log cabin overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains & the Roach River. Sit on the deck by the fire pit, walk/hike the 28+ acres, prepare meals in the tiny but mighty kitchen or use the gas grill, fish/explore the river, star gaze, or watch a movie. Centrally located within 10 miles of 7 wineries, 6 miles to the Blue Ridge School, & 15 miles to SNP. Plan to bring food as groceries are 5-10 miles away.

The space
We are spacing all reservations by 24+ hours and following CDC cleaning protocols. We clean everything in between stays before new guests arrive - we use a linen service and launder all linens to ensure everything is clean (towels, sheets, bedspreads, blankets, covers), all surfaces are disinfected with commercial grade cleaner, and all dishes are re-cleaned to prevent the spread of viruses.

The rustic cabin is cozy with a small bedroom with a queen sized bed and full bathroom. There is a small, tiny but mighty kitchen equipped with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. The living area has two chairs, a woodstove/fireplace, and an eating bar with 2 stools. The loft is accessible by a ladder and is set up for reading. The bedroom has a flat-screen TV and Blu-ray/DVD player for enjoying time inside. We have a few games and movies in the cabin for entertainment when you are not adventuring outside but we do recommend that if you plan to stay indoors for your stay please plan to bring along a few extra games and DVDs for entertainment since we do not have WiFi and your cell service will likely be limited to calls/texts. The cabin is the perfect place to escape and unplug from it all and to fully immerse yourself into nature.

The cabin is located 10 miles from the Charlottesville Airport (CHO), 6 miles from the Blue Ridge School, 15 miles from the Swift Run park entrance of Shenandoah National Park (SNP), within 10 miles of 6 local wineries, within 10-15 miles from several local breweries, within 5-20 miles from multiple historic sites & museums, 19 miles from downtown Charlottesville, and within 5 miles from multiple antique & thrift stores.

The cabin sits on the same property as Touchstone Manor (previously known as the William Cox Inn). The history of he property starts circa 1770 when William Cox and his family constructed the first house on the property and was a part of the original land owned by Samuel Estes (which was the original formation of Orange County in the 1700s before becoming a part of Greene County). There are 28+ acres to explore including a hike through the woods and along the river.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the cabin and are welcome to hike the property and explore the Roach River. Check with the hosts to access other amenities at the main residence.

Other things to note
Note that the River Birch Cabin is built from logs and not in the traditional form of your every day house in the city. From time to time you may find a few bugs trying to share the space with you but the view, the sounds of the river, and the coziness are well worth it.
