About this listing
Good sized double room right in the heart of London near many of its best tourist attractions. We've owned this house for years, and hosted hundreds of happy Airbnb guests so we know the area and how to help people get the best from it. Get in touch!
We've been hosting on here for three years. We don't live at the property right now so all three bedrooms are rented (the bathroom is shared). We have now had hundreds of guests come through our doors, we also travel regularly using Airbnb. Between those two things we have a really good feel for what people are looking for when staying here and using Airbnb.
We're splitting our time between travelling and staying elsewhere in London and the UK for a while due to work and other commitments, but we're still very much involved in the house. When we can provide access two of our trusted local friends help out.
We know the area and London very well and provide a full written guide to our guests but are also very happy to help with information by phone, email or What's App about eating, drinking, sightseeing and anything else we can.
We appreciate one of the things people like is a bit of local knowledge when staying in Airbnb so do our best to provide this with the guides and contact mentioned above, however we have also dropped the price to reflect that we are no longer in the house, so for the area it is an even bigger bargain.
This is a good sized double room in a period mansion block, one minute from Waterloo train station. We have renovated it over the last three years to a high standard, retaining all its original character - this isn't a hotel room, it's a guest room in our house.
The room has a good size double bed and good hanging/drawer space, recently decorated with stripped wood floors and plenty of space for luggage etc. In the rest of the flat we have a communal living room with cable and an LCD TV as well as very high speed broadband throughout the flat. The kitchen is new, finished recently with high spec units, Italian tiles and top spec appliances like a Bosch dishwasher and Miele washing machine. The bathroom is small but perfectly formed with a powerful rain shower. There is a separate toilet. The bathroom and toilet are shared.
The real highlight of the flat though is the location, which is quite frankly amazing and the main reason we chose to live here. For transport it is 30 secs from Waterloo train station. Basically, getting anywhere in London is within easy reach on the tube/bus etc.
It is walking distance (under 15 mins) to the Southbank (Tate Modern, BFI, Hayward etc), Covent Garden, The House of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Tower of London, St Pauls and many more attractions. Closer still (1 min) Lower Marsh market is emerging as one of London's cutest little markets with international street food stalls and a weekly produce market.
The rate includes a nice, simple continental style breakfast which you help yourself to in the morning. Bagels, preserves, cereals, juice, tea and coffee that kind of thing.
The flat is on the third floor so a few easy steps are necessary, unfortunately this means no disabled access is possible.
Parking can be arranged for an extra fee (it costs us money to buy it).
Check in is best after 4pm but please contact us if this is an issue with your travel plans.
We provide a printed guide in your room on arrival, created by us exclusively for our guests.
We only ask that guests act like normal human beings and respect the house, common sense stuff.
Danielle was so good about answering my questions before arrival and contacting her friend to let us in. Her friend was so sweet and helpful and readied our room for us quickly. We weren't used to a big city environment and were worried about the location and the dirty city streets in the area, but after a few days in London, we realized that that's just London, a big city. The flat was in a great location for sight seeing on the south bank. I would recommend the boat trips up the Theames and the London Eye is a must. A neighbor next door was very nice and offered his help if we needed anything. We felt safe staying there. Thanks for a memorable time!
Theo and Danielle don’t live in the flat so we met Diana who is a very lovely and helpful hostess. She has been really welcoming and always ready to help, giving every information whenever this was necessary. She offered us to use shampoo and shower gel and provided breakfast as well. We hope she makes it in Mexico ! She deserves it. We recommend this hostess.
The flat was not very easy to find for us. The flat is quiet, on the 3rd floor with no lift. It is rather clean and tidy. The area is very close to Waterloo station and the London Eye, so it is well located even if the area is a working class neighborhood. Glad we arrived in the morning and not late at night.
Our bedroom was clean and tidy too. It was rather quiet although there was sometimes a little noise outside at night as were not far from some ambulance departure but it didn’t bother us (although I am very sensitive to noise).
The bathroom we shared with 2 other couples was a little narrow but convenient to use anyway.
Theo and Danielle did not meet us at the apartment, however, their friends (nice couple) who live there permanently were. After a brief tour, we were given probably the coolest item any host could provide: a laminated information sheet on the neighborhood, great places to eat, drink, transportation ideas and sites to see!
The room was larger than what we expected and had a nice unfinished feeling to the flooring. Very large window made the room nice and bright and the fan allowed us to pull in more of that cool London air as we drifted off to sleep.
The apartment was nice and clean, very inviting and we had access to a full kitchen and laundry. Very close to the Waterloo underground station and a short walk to the South Bank as well to see the London Eye, Big Ben (on the North Bank) and Shakespeare's Globe Theater. Would highly recommend a stay here. Cheers!
It's a wonderful experience in this room. The traffic is convenient and the view is good through out the window. The flat is cute, but the hosts are friendly and nice. It's a good place if you want to live in the centre of London.
Good position. Room is clean and warm. The host is nice and pick me up when I can't find the house. But a litter noise because of the door and thin wall.
We were welcomed by a most comfortable and airy flat; extremely easy going and helpful hosts. Lovely breakfast, left for us to help ourselves to (Bagels, Jams, Juice and good coffee) Sufficient cooking amenities, a weekly cleaner and very peaceful during the night.
Location couldn't have been better, walking distance to Embankment, Southbank, London Bridge and Waterloo station within a stone's throw. Thanks so much for making our stay as relaxed and free as possible!
Insomma, tutto molto bene. Host e appartamento assolutamente consigliati.

About the Host, Theo & Danielle
We used Airbnb all over the world and had great experiences. We've decided to rent out our flat over the summer to give us some flexibility while we settle back in and a bit of extra cash. (We don't live at the flat at the moment but we are there lots during the week) We feel that after all the travelling we have just done we are in a great place to be able to know what people will want from a visit to London.
Both of us love music and much of our lives revolve around it. We've lived in London for a few years and know the area where the flat is really well, its a great place to be.
