You will enjoy 50 square metres of internal space in our modern light-filled and funky art space. Situated in Sydney's cultural heartland we are 300 metres from a bustop that provides a 15 minute ride to the CBD every 5 minutes.
Our town house, re-built in 2011, is a completely re-worked 1890 end terrace and is fully self contained and affords you complete independence. The architect has made the most of abundant natural light and ventilation. Our soaring atrium rises 30 feet and showcases some great contemporary Australian art.
You will enjoy 50 square metres of internal space. A giant picture window in the kitchen frames your view of our roof garden. Our kitchen has a cooktop, rangehood and microwave. There you will also find a washer/dryer. Next door in the lounge are book cases and our WI-FI TV. The masterbedroom has a Queen size bed with ensuite bathroom with twin showers.
Setting the scene for your exploration of Newtown's galleries, shops, music venues, theatres, & restaurants (and exclusively for the enjoyment of guests), is a retrospective by Australian artist Tony Twigg.
After a big day out you may want to cosy up in front of our burning log gas fire, and further research the next day's destinations, or (website hidden) home, on our 42" internet connected LCD TV's. Each room in your unit has built in stereo ceiling speakers, with their own volume controls.

From Sydney airport.....
If you take the train to our place, it will cost around $16:50 per person and it will take nearly half an hour to complete the train journey + 10 minutes to walk from Macdonaldtown Station to our place.
(From Macdonaldtown head up Burren Street and turn right into Wilson. Golden Grove is the next roundabout you come to.)
If you catch a taxi, it will cost about $33. The taxi ride will take about 20 minutes, and you will not have to do any walking. So for 2 or more people it is a no-brainer! Catch a taxi!
Even for 1 person we do not believe the $10/15 saved catching a train is worth the time lost- the hassel of changing trains & the final walk. Try to have cash for your taxi ride. In Sydney taxis have a 10% surcharge if you use a credit card.
By bus, heading out of the city, alight on King Street just past the intersection with Queen Street. Walk, back in the direction you came, North, into Darlington Road, (old Sydney Uni. Regiment on the corner). Turn right into Golden Grove.
By bus, heading towards the city, alight at the corner of King St. and Carillon Ave. The old Sydney Uni. Regiment building is virtually opposite the bus stop. Cross the road at the lights and head round the old regiment building into Darlington Road. Soon Golden Grove Street appears on the right.
Your apartment is close to the action, being just 350 metres from Sydney University School of Business , the University Union Wentworth Building and Art Galleries, Indoor pool etc.and 350 metres from Carriageworks and Eveleigh Farmers' markets, and 350 metres from King Street, with countless restaurants, cafes and pubs., the Vanguard Performance Venue, boutique shops ETC.
The apartment is also about 350 metres from Hollis Park which has a children’s play area in a beautifully leafy corner of the Park, right near a row of grand terrace houses.
Sydney's major attractions are at Circular Quay; the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, Ferries to Manly, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Rocks and the Botanic Gardens are just some of the attractions at Circular Quay. Circular Quay is 4.5 kms from our apartments.
It is a 10 minute walk to the nearest train station, and then it is a 14 minute train ride to Circular Quay.
Buses to and from Circular Quay
The bus stop for Circular Quay, (King St Near Carillon Ave, Newtown), is 300m from B & B Golden Grove. Buses run every 4 minutes. You can catch a (phone number hidden) or 428 Bus. Bus tickets needs to be purchased before catching the bus.
The 25-minute bus ride to Circular Quay takes you past:
•Broadway shopping centre and cinemas
•University of Technology
•Central Railway Station
•Chinatown and Paddy’s Market
•Cinemas and Entertainment Centre
•Town Hall and Queen Victoria Building

Interaction with Guests
As your host I am at your service to the degree that suits you best. After showing you your air conditioned unit, I generally assist folks with a short orientation tour showing the highlights of Newtown and our location relative to the CBD.
However, if you prefer independence and know the lay of the land, you can enjoy solitude and privacy within minutes of arriving.
Newtown has a buzz like no other suburb in Sydney. Our street may bring you the music of young children at play in the primary school opposite, or the singing of worshippers in the Church just over the road, who coexist with rock bands that hire their church hall for rehearsals, as well as the classical musicians practising in their home just a couple of doors away.
In Newtown it is no so much about the glitz or the glamour, it's more about our need to self-express.
We're one big alternative vibe with our apartment, the venues, the food, the shops, the pubs and parks managing to keep life weirdly wonderful.
The bus stop at the corner of King Street and Carillon Avenue is about a 5 minute walk.
Macdonaldtown train station is about 10/12 minute walk.
Other Things to Note
We get your visit off to a flying start with the supply of a range of breakfast foods, sufficient to enable you to enjoy a morning meal whenever it suits for the first 3 or 4 days of your stay. Thereafter we ask that you take advantage of our awesome King Street shopping precint and the nearby Saturday Eveleigh Farmers' markets to top up your supplies by choosing food items to your taste for the balance of your stay.
We supply some fresh fruit, milk, juice, yoghurt, bacon, cereals, plunger coffee, tea bags, quick oats, Kelloggs variety, Wheatbix cereals and a loaf of bread and spreads and margarine.

It was such a brilliant pleasure staying at Lloyd's gorgeous central apartment. Lloyd made our stay that extra bit special with all his kind and helpful tips and hints on things to do in Sydney right across to the delicious breakfast we had waiting for us when we arrived after a 23hr long flight. We couldn't recommend staying at Goldens Grove enough! Huge thanks Lloyd!

This house is so big, clean and tidy, also in the good location, talk a walk to the King Street that there are a lot of shops, bars and restaurant .only spend 10 mins to the train station.
the host Lloyd is so nice, kind and friendly, he drive us to see what is around us and familiar with the road and shop, ease our activity.
greatly appreciate Lloyd preparation and arrangement.
Very good experience in Sydney. Thanks Lloyd, thanks your warm welcome and all information around Sydney. The apartment is super comfort , quiet , also a lovely open kitchen ,and the location is good,it's just within 10mins walk to train station :)
We had a fantastic few days in Lloyd's apartment while in Sydney. Everything you need is in the apartment including some basics ( milk, tea, coffee, bread and cereal etc.) to get you started. The apartment was exactly as described and true to the photos. Lloyd took the time to meet us and show us around the apartment and the neighbourhood. The apartment is ideally located a short easy walk to the train station and close to lots of cafes, restaurants and shops. Lloyd was prompt and easy to communicate with. Thank-you so much Lloyd we will definitely be back the next time we are in Sydney. I would highly recommend staying at Lloyd's place.
My boyfriend and I stayed Lloyd’s apartment at Golden Grove Street for 6 nights in February while visiting from Singapore to attend a friend’s wedding and couldn’t have picked a better place for our first Airbnb experience.
Lloyd was extremely welcoming and friendly from the off, sending me an email instantly following my booking explaining all the logistics for the check-in and features of the apartment and neighbourhood. He also accommodated special requests regarding check-in and check-out which was very much appreciated.
The apartment offered more than enough room for two people for a week’s stay (it’s bigger than it looks on the photos) and is very nicely decorated and maintained, with a nice sized kitchen and dining area, cute sitting area and separate bedroom.
Lloyd stocked the fridge and pantry with useful breakfast items including fresh bread, fruit and a variety of cereals, condiments and yogurt. The kitchen is also adequately stocked for light cooking. The surround sound music system was also an unexpected but welcome feature, as was the airconditioning on warm days.
The location was also perfect for us. The apartment is near Newtown’s main high street and a short walk from the University of Sydney, Darlington and Glebe. Lots of buses into the city centre stop on King's Street (the main Newtown high street) and Macdonaltown and Redfern stations are only a 10 and 15 minute walk away respectively.
We discovered lots of cute cafes and coffee shops on nearby King’s Street in Newtown and on Glebe Point Road (including some great veggie options such as Suzy Spoon’s Vegetarian Butcher and Badde Manor). King’s Street Grocer is a 5 minute walk away and offers all you could need for a self-catered stay (including a variety of organic and vegetarian products). Eveleigh Farmers market, open on Saturdays and a 5 minutes down the road, also offers a variety of awesome organic produce and makes for a nice weekend morning stroll.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to any of my friends and family coming to Sydney in the future and will defiefnetily stay there again on my next trip. Thanks for such a great experience, Lloyd.
The reservation was canceled 3 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Lloyd was a wonderful host, and the apartment was absolutely fantastic. Lloyd came to change linens and towels every couple of days, which was great. From the well thought out furnishing to the works of art on the walls, everything was perfect.
