This is a large house for you to enjoy, with plenty of privacy and an accomodating host when you need it.
The house overlooks what was formerly Lord Bantry's hunting estate, now a 250 acre forest reserve that offers over 60 kilometers of walking trails just out the door, yet the house is only 5 minutes drive (35 minute walk) from Glengarriff village with great pubs and dining. It is on the Beara Way, the long distance walking trail of the Beara Penninsula. This is a very beautiful and quiet place to be, to enjoy fresh air, bird song, spring water, a garden and terrace, and the plants and animals of the forest. It's a part of Ireland that few see, truly a magical place.
Glengarriff is a charming village on a small harbour north of Bantry. Surrounded by stunning mountains and old oak forests, its romantic position on the water has attracted visitors since the early days of tourism in Ireland. There are great pubs and restaurants, craft shops, an art gallery, a small grocery store with post office and a hairdressers and pharmacy in the village. Garnish Island (Illnacullen) in Glengarriff harbour is a world-famous garden. It is a walker's paradise, and a good base to use to explore West Cork and Kerry.
Located at the gateway to the Beara penninsula, this is one of the most rugged and beautiful parts of Ireland. Enjoying a moderate climate most of the year, it's paradise for travellers who want to take their time to discover why West Cork is one of the best places in Europe to enjoy exceptional landscape, friendly people, good walking, and good food. The house is equidistant to Bantry town and Kenmare, both lovely market towns with good shopping, restaurants and entertainment that are 20-30 minutes away. There are several golf courses within easy reach of the house, and boating and fishing in Glengarriff harbour and Bantry Bay.
