we had a wonderful vacation At Joanna Simmons home, the house is very nice, spacious and comfortable. We were 6 and mostly dined in, and the kitchen was well equipped for all our needs.
It was chilly so we did not use the pool but we definitely would have if the weather was better.
We enjoyed the beach and St. Augustine tremendously.
It's not a four seasons or a westin resort but it is nice and a great value for what you pay, especially if you have 6 or more people. She stocks the home with coffee, teas, and has alot of organic all natural condiments and even stocks the fridge with eggs and other basic foods. She has like 6 or 7 bikes, beach chairs, and other things for your use. The pool/patio area was huge and is fully screened in and could accommodate a good 10 to 12 people easily. It would have been really really nice on a hot day. The decor like others have stated is not updated but you are paying for value and that's what you get. The beach is really close by and is nice. I have had experiences with Airbnb where things really fell short and this home didn't disappoint but it definitely has what you need to have a nice time with a large family.
Great location. Description as "dated" is inaccurate. This property has many issues that detract from its usability as a vacation rental. Much of the furniture and fixtures are either damaged or inoperable. Flaking and stained ceilings, peeling wallpaper, broken door handles, burned out lights, mold and mildew. Some light switches even have notes on them that say "Does Not Work". Missing smoke detectors. Doors that don't lock. There is a lot to like about this home, but it needs a lot of maintenance to make it liveable and rentable. Garage so filled with clutter as to be unusable. I would not stay here again, as I do not consider it safe or a desirable place for my family. For a frat house, maybe, but not for someone looking for a quality place for a nice vacation rental.
Joanna's house was amazing and comfortable for my entire group. She was welcoming and had everything in place for our visit. Thanks to Joanna, our trip seems a little less hectic, knowing we could come back to rest in a delightful manner. Thanks Joanna!
My wife and I stayed at Joanna's place Labor Day weekend. I understand all the reviews about the place being "out dated" but it was still awesome non the less!! Very spacious, clean, and private. I will more than likely be renting the house again in the future and would highly recommend it to everyone.
Joanna's home is exactly as described. The home was built in the 80's and much of it decorated with 90's decor, some reviewers called it dated. To me it was very comfortable, relaxed and well maintained. The home and pool were terrific retreats from our site-seeing. The neighborhood is very safe, friendly and close to many activities. Joanna herself is a delight to be around. She is an open minded free spirit as well as an accomplished artist and photographer. Her works hang throughout the home. She is quite accommodating and made every part of the process as smooth as possible. This was our first time using AirBNB or any other short term home rental and it couldn't have gone better. Joanna even road with us to the beach club and showed us how to access the neighborhood beach. It's a terrific bargain and Joanna is an awesome person and a great host.
Our family enjoyed our stay over the 4th of July. This house is truly unique. Lots of mirrors, art, marble, musical instruments, laid out in an art deco sort of style. This house was probably state of the art in the late 80s early 90s, but now it is somewhat dated. Still, the house is very spacious. Several areas to gather. The pool and deck are really nice. No outside hot tub. Condition of the house is reasonable considering it is commonly used as a rental. Neighborhood is beautiful and upscale. We enjoyed their firework show on the golf course. Beach is within 1.5 miles. There is only one functional, small TV with basic cable, but there is wifi. All in all, if you are looking for a private place with a pool and have 4+ people, this is a great value and you will enjoy your stay.
Thank you for writing. Since I don't watch TV I really didn't realize the value of lots of channels on the TV. I will certainly get them out to change the plan and add Net Flicks to the TV. I guess the TV looked large to me but as I said, I don't watch TV. Sorry if it caused you disappointment. I don't believe I advertized a hot tub? I will certainly go back through my messages and look.
I hope you all had a nice time here, you have a beautiful family.
The house is just as described, quiet, spacious, & Joanna is a fabulous hostess. She had breakfast food for us & took the time to show us where everything was in the house. We had 8 people in our party & the house is big enough that everyone had their own space. The pool was a hit! There are actually 5 bedrooms, the one den area has a sofa bed. It's close to everything, a few minutes to a beautiful beach, stores, & major highways. We will definitely be back to rent this house!!!
This unique home in Ponte Vedra Beach is a standout. There is plenty of space, and has everything you need. The fridge had plenty of supplies, and the bathrooms had lotions and soaps that you can use. If you like run of the mill homes, this is not a place for you - If you love tranquility, artwork and peaceful gardens, drink it in. The pool area is something to see, exotic flowers added to the zen-like escape.
With a home like this to rent, you would be foolish to pick other accommodations. We plan on coming back in the fall. Thanks for your kindness and hospitality, Joanna! This trip was a real treat for us!
