The Space

Stay at this beautiful house while waiting for a transplant or treatments. Home environment and place to heal. Massage therapy, hypnosis, and transcutaneous acupuncture available at the house by licensed professionals to compliment your treatments. Cool pool to refresh in with bikes for the beach. I can arrange tennis lessons with a world class tennis player for those interested. Transportation available to the clinics. Beautiful home in a gated community about 1 1/4 mile from the beach by road but you can hear the ocean from the pool area. Walk, bike or drive and park to beach access at Sawgrass Beach Club, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Includes beach drop off at Sawgrass Beach Club as well as bikes (you can bring your own if you prefer) for an easy bike ride to the beach through upscale neighborhood. No traffic making it safe for exercise. Private pool with waterfall and gardens, grand piano and very interesting house decor including a flight room with model planes, zen art work and photographs taken all over the world. The house is located on the marsh so it is very private and quiet.
The house and pool deck was painted in 2013.

Once entering the house you will feel like you are on your own private island. Internet, basic cable, Netflix projection, garage parking, and golf course a few steps away. Towels and sheets washed in hypoallergenic soap, interesting comfortable furnishings (some art deco style), photographs from all over the world and interesting paintings. Stereo, DVD, 32 in. TV, cassette and CD player, 3 children bikes (girls) and 4 adult bikes, beach chairs, floats for the pool, and extra towels for the beach and pool. Umbrella available for the beach. Garage is for my own personal storage but you can use to retreive bikes and beach equipment as well as park your car. . Water cooler for a purified cold water drink, shampoo, and soap, basically all you need to do is bring your clothes. Appliances in kitchen are from the 1990s and so are a bit out-dated, but work well. Over 15 plus skylights in the house.
Weber grill in the pool area with tools (bring charcoal or collect wood in back yard).

Expect a beautiful roomy home from the 1990s. The land is peaceful with a pool on the marsh, flower gardens, and solar lights on the pool level and stars above.

Easy access to Mayo Clinic (7 miles away). Jacksonville, international airport, Starbucks, family restaurants, as well as 5 star restaurants. Many championship golf courses, tennis courts, biking trails, and swimming in the pool and ocean Also fishing, sailing, kayaking, golfing, yoga, weight rooms, and walking and running trails are a bike ride or walk away.

Guana Nature Reserve Park (NERR), as well as historic St. Augustine, Salt Run, Anastasia Park and Lighthouse make for nice day trips only 25-30 minutes away. The night life in St Augustine is very alive with musicians, restaurants, and lights. Jacksonville within 30 min. for nightlife and big city activities such as art museums and concerts.

baby crib and equipment rental is avalible.

Definitely the best area to visit in Florida. Fresh air from the ocean, physical exercise activities, dogs on the beach to pet, you will leave feeling very refreshed. Maybe even see a alligator in the creek that goes under the room at the guard station. Lots of birds on the beach, flying, singing, and roosting.

All major denominations of churches are within 2-3 miles from the house. A non denominational church meets at the beach club on Sunday mornings.

Marriott spa is 2 miles away where you can spend the day having all kinds massages, exercise classes, manicures, steam room, weight room, and sauna. You can get a free one week pass at the Winston YMCA that offers a top of the line weight room and exercise classes with nursery.

Some of the finest golf courses in the US are here in Ponte Vedra Beach.

All drivers will get beach drop off pass and gate passes.

  • Wonderful experience. Beautiful home. If we ever go back to Jacksonville this is where we will stay.

  • This house was awesome. Situated right next to the PGA PLAYERS event we attended and other great golf courses. It had a beautiful pool and plenty of space. Joanna had the house stocked with all of the basics (bagels for breakfast, tea, condiments, towels, linen etc.) and detailed instructions on how to do everything and operate everything in the house. It was a great stay. Would totally stay there again.

  • This house is a "seventies" jewel, Joanna the owner is the nicest guest you could imagine, everything is unique, special, amazing and surprising inside.
The coolest way of life is here: Sawgrass community.
We just LOVED it and are already thinking of booking it over and over... :)
But forget about it because we booked it for the next decade :))))))

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Joanna's place. It's a very spacious and bright place. The swimming pool area is a big plus if weather is hot enough!
Joanna was very responsive to all our inquiries, and always very helpful.
We look forward to staying in her place in the near future!

  • We were down for a wedding and Sawgrass home was perfect! Joanna's house was in an amazing gated community and one of the most unique and eclectic homes I'm ever stayed in. I loved all the amazing photographs throughout the house that Joanna herself took. There was plenty of space and a nicely sized pool. Will definitely stay again with my group.

Keep in mind that you have you be on a "list" in order to pass through security into the community. Can be a bit of an inconvenience if you are trying to bring additional family back, etc. But understandable for security purposes. Nonetheless Joanna was great and makes herself available for anything.

  • we had a wonderful vacation At Joanna Simmons home, the house is very nice, spacious and comfortable. We were 6 and mostly dined in, and the kitchen was well equipped for all our needs.
It was chilly so we did not use the pool but we definitely would have if the weather was better.
We enjoyed the beach and St. Augustine tremendously.

  • It's not a four seasons or a westin resort but it is nice and a great value for what you pay, especially if you have 6 or more people. She stocks the home with coffee, teas, and has alot of organic all natural condiments and even stocks the fridge with eggs and other basic foods. She has like 6 or 7 bikes, beach chairs, and other things for your use. The pool/patio area was huge and is fully screened in and could accommodate a good 10 to 12 people easily. It would have been really really nice on a hot day. The decor like others have stated is not updated but you are paying for value and that's what you get. The beach is really close by and is nice. I have had experiences with Airbnb where things really fell short and this home didn't disappoint but it definitely has what you need to have a nice time with a large family.

  • Great location. Description as "dated" is inaccurate. This property has many issues that detract from its usability as a vacation rental. Much of the furniture and fixtures are either damaged or inoperable. Flaking and stained ceilings, peeling wallpaper, broken door handles, burned out lights, mold and mildew. Some light switches even have notes on them that say "Does Not Work". Missing smoke detectors. Doors that don't lock. There is a lot to like about this home, but it needs a lot of maintenance to make it liveable and rentable. Garage so filled with clutter as to be unusable. I would not stay here again, as I do not consider it safe or a desirable place for my family. For a frat house, maybe, but not for someone looking for a quality place for a nice vacation rental.

  • Joanna's house was amazing and comfortable for my entire group. She was welcoming and had everything in place for our visit. Thanks to Joanna, our trip seems a little less hectic, knowing we could come back to rest in a delightful manner. Thanks Joanna!
