Enjoy a stay in your garden-view room with your own bathroom! It is a modern house with pubs, restaurants and a café in easy walking distance. From here, you can explore the Atlantic coast (10 min drive), the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher & much more!
I offer a guest room with its own bathroom.
The room has a single bed, and looks out onto the garden, so it is very quiet at night. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub and showerhead, towels, shower gel, shampoos, tooth paste, soap and hairdryer.
You can relax in the garden, or watch TV (Sky, Irish channels) with a nice cup of tea - or coffee :-) ...
The house is located in a residential area just off the market square of Lisdoonvarna, a town on the edge of a unique area called the Burren and very close to the Cliffs of Moher.
By car, it's only 10 min. to the sea and Doolin, 40 min. to Ennis, 50 min. to Shannon Airport, and max 1.5 hours to Galway.
If you come by car:
The best way to travel in Ireland (unless you are staying in big cities only) is renting a car. This enables you to discover all the hidden, magical corners of the Emerald Isle. There is no car hire in Lisdoonvarna, best way to get a car is at the arrival airport. Off-street parking around the corner, (motor)bikes can be safely parked in the garden.
Pubs with evening entertainment from traditional to contemporary music, as well as restaurants and cafés are in walking distance.
One of the pubs, the Roadside Tavern, offers their own lager, red ale and stout which are brewed by the owner of the pub in the pub itself! Extremely tasty and definitely worth a tasting. Also, there are traditional music sessions on every night in summer, and contemporary music gigs on Sunday nights. See here for music schedule (you'll have to copy & paste & delete the spaces between the elements of the link, they would not allow me to put up links here): http:// (website hidden)/roadside/asp/page. asp?p= Music% 20at%20the%20Roadside%20Tavern. Well worth going there for the atmosphere and the great food from the award-winning kitchen.
Clare's biggest salmon smokehouse and visitor centre (Burren Smokehouse) is one of the main attractions in town. Local amenities comprise grocery stores and a butcher, a pharmacy, a church, a surgery, a riding stable, local walking guides etc.
The Doolin Caves are only a 5 to 10 min drive away and feature one of the biggest stalactites in the world (6 m long hanging from the cave ceiling!).
Doolin also offers ferry rides to the Aran Islands during the summer months, and along the majestic Cliffs of Moher. Great ideas for a day trip!

You can have a lovely stroll from my house in the evening to wind down and let the day's memories sink in.
Wifi is available in the house if you bring your own device.
The resident cat is affectionate and docile. He loves strawberry yoghurt and is open to bribery.
There is no cash machine (ATM) in Lisdoonvarna, the nearest is in Ennistymon, 15 min. by car south of Lisdoonvarna. So it would be advisable to stock up on money before you get here.
You have access to the kitchen for your breakfast, the living room with TV and DVD player, the garden and of course your own bathroom.
I am living in the house with my cat, so I will be available to help you with questions you might have, or with suggestions for walks, the absolute must-sees of the area etc.
I have also gathered a lot of information about visitor attractions, maps etc. which are available in the guest room.
I live in a quiet neighbourhood which is nonetheless very close to the square. Actually you can see it from my house. At the same time, going the other way, there is a lovely valley where you can walk, or reach the sea in just 10 minutes. The world-famous Cliffs of Moher are only a 20 min drive away, and the Burren (an amazing limestone area) are very close, too.
You can also do day trips to the Aran Islands, as the ferries to the islands go from Doolin, a 15 min drive away.
Traveling by public transport:
Have a look at websites like (website hidden) for getting from Dublin to Galway, and at the Bus Eireann website for getting from Galway to Lisdoonvarna, if you don't travel by car. The bus stops in Lisdoonvarna at the square, and from there it is only 2 min on foot to my house. There are services going to Ennis/Limerick/Cork and the Galway direction. The Cliffs of Moher and Doolin can be reached by bus.
To organise your public transport, visit (website hidden), a very handy website for that.
Bikes - pushbikes or motorbikes - can be parked safely in the garden.
Karin was a very good host, always willing to do what she could to accommodate my requests. For example, when I told her that the room was a bit cold, she immediately gave me an electric fan heater. I was overall very happy with my stay in Lisdoonvarna.
If you get the opportunity to stay at Karin's home...book it! She is in the heart of lisdoonvarna and within walking distance of the towns adorable & delicious restaurants & pubs. As soon as I walked in, Karin wanted to make sure I felt right at home by showing me where all the necessities were and was graciousness enough to share whatever odds n ends she had leaving you with the "what is mine is yours" sentiment. The Burren & the Cliffs of Moher & the Mineral Spa & the Worlds biggest matchmaking festival are RIGHT there and she provides answers and details to make sure you have the best information to enjoy your stay. I would highly recommend and if you like hikes and photography she is extremely informative in those areas as well. Thx Karin!!
The house is very clean and beautiful, full of light. Karin is a descreet and correct host, with a beautiful sweet cat. She's has been gentle: picked me up in Ennis because we could do the same street to go home. And Lisdoonvarna Festival is so funny!
I had a wonderful time staying with Karin in Lisdoonvarna! I stayed with her for 10 days and started to feel like a local by the end of my visit. Karin's house is at a perfect location right- 1 block from the main street, the house is very cute and cozy, she makes great bread, she knows a lot about the area, and her cat Ishka is very friendly. Karin was extremely helpful before I arrived and during my visit and she is a great person. I would love to stay with her again if I go back to Lisdoonvarna!
I stayed with Karin for four nights in July, 2013. The bedroom was fine and the bed very comfortable. I had my own bathroom which was nice.
Karin let me store food in her fridge and was very hospitable about use of the kitchen. Unfortunately, I left her fridge door slightly open one night and she was quite gracious about this. It was also helpful to be able to use the iron.
The location is in the middle of Lisdoonvarna village and easy to walk to shops, restaurants and pubs.
All in all, a pleasant visit.
Karin offers up a great stay in a fantastic location in Lisdoonvarna. The bedroom was clean and comfy walking distance to everything in town made for a great stay. Karin was a fantastic host and was very great with providing information on my stay. Highly recommended!
Karin was a beautiful host. I felt completely comfortable during my stay of 5 nights. The private room and bathroom were so lovely, cosy and well equipped with wardrobe, desk comfy bed, nice hot shower etc. Karin also made me feel very welcome to use the rest of the house; the back garden was a lovely place to catch the occasional rays of Irish sun! I was in Lisdoonvarna during the matchmaking festival which was great to experience! I went out with Karin and some of her friends a couple of nights which was so generous - such a great way to see the town - lots of fun! The cat is a great housemate too :) And the home made bread and lime curd for breakfast are delicious! The town is well worth a visit and is very close to so many other beautiful areas in County Clare (Karin knows the area really well) Thank you!
Karin is a caring and considerate host. She makes the most delicious bread and lime curd, and is very generous with both. The room and bathroom are very clean and the house is just lovely, and in a great location for exploring Western Ireland. I even liked her cat, and I'm not a cat person. For the money this is an absolute steal, and I would definitely stay there again! Single bed only, and a flower power shower are the only downsides. But for a single traveler, this place is the bomb! Book it!
Karin was amazing. She cooked me supper and washed my travel clothes (which really needed it.) She had great ideas on things to do in the area. She directed me to a pub, The Roadside Tavern, where I had craft beer and got to see a trad session.
Her home is located close to the Burren, Galway, the Aran Islands, and the Cliffs of Moher.
I could not have asked for a more gracious, kind, interesting hostess.
Vielen, vielen Dank fuer alles!
