Beautiful downtown character home built in 1911 on quiet street. Recently renovated with gorgeous, private back yard and new deck. Great for BBQs in the summer! Everything you need to make great meals at home. Walk to restaurants, downtown, parks, river pathway, tennis courts, and public transit. The whole house is yours. Clean towels and linens are provided. All amenities including wireless internet and TV.
Mark's place is cute and cozy with awesome decor. Plus, it's within walking distance to downtown Calgary (go through the park, it's much nicer than the big roads). The house sits between two streets that offer many food options. The grocery store is a bit further away - we drove out once and stocked up on supplies.
The wifi did not work, but all the other amenities worked perfectly. I only wish we'd stayed long enough to make use of the back deck and barbeque! It would have been a perfect spot for brunch.
Mark and Rose were both responsive and Rose's walkthrough upon our arrival was much appreciated.
The house is showing its age a bit. If you want spotless modern living, stick to a hotel. But if you want to stay in a place that feels like a Home, this would be a fine choice for you.
Thank you Mark and Rose!

Mark's place is very neat and comfortable. We greatly enjoyed our stay there. Thanks for everything, Mark. :)
One advice I have for future guests is to bring a blow-dryer if you need one. I made the mistake of assuming there would be one there and ended up air drying my hair everyday... which isn't a big deal but I just wanted to mention that as a heads-up! ;)
Perfect home base for our first visit to Calgary and the Stampede in a quiet, charming neighborhood. Mark's house is very comfortable for a couple, well supplied with everything you need. Easy walk across the river to downtown and to the Stampede grounds. Communication with Mark and Rose was flawless. When we arrived a couple hours earlier than planned, Rose came right over and let us in. We will definitely stay here again.
I really like what's been done to the main floor of this house: hardwood floors throughout, wide open, lots of space, great kitchen upgrade with new double glass doors to the deck so lots of light, That said, the bathroom could use a bit of a tune-up. The location is very central and the neighbourhood is treed and well cared for, with lots of restaurants, etc. close by.
Really enjoyed our month here!
We did not meet the owner but Maya was a friendly and professional representative. The house is small but has a spacious feeling. It is well appointed and very comfortable. The deck was a wonderful bonus as was the very lovely neighbourhood. A perfect location for a stroll into the downtown or access to major thoroughfares. I would highly recommend it.
The bungalow was a great place to use as a hub for getting around Calgary with easy access to the main roads and highways. The house was in a quiet neighborhood with a nice private deck in the back. The host provided everything needed for a great stay.
Great place in a great location. It was so nice to come "home" rather than go back to a hotel!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Mark's. It is a lovely 2-bedroom bungalow that is equipped with almost anything you could possibly need - a well-stocked kitchen, wifi and even books and board games if you are spending the day in the apartment. The house is a 20 minute walk from downtown although there are frequent buses along Centre St that you could use, too. Lambda, the Asian grocer, was great for cheaper groceries although they do not have a full selection of the standard American fare. Like any home, there are some quirks to the house, but they didn't bother me - I was warned not to plug any additional appliances into the kitchen sockets, no overhead light in the kitchen, the front door knob only turns one way and the front door key is a bit temperamental. But it was fine. Of note, there was no air conditioning but I didn't find that to be a problem, even during some hot days. The apartment was fairly cool when the curtains were left closed during the day. Maya, the property manager, was very receptive to all my queries during my stay.
Of note, for anyone coming from the airport, the airport express bus 300 drops you off at 16 Ave and Centre, which is a 10-15 minute walk to the house. $8 from the airport and $2.75 to get to the airport. Much cheaper than a taxi.
We stayed during the 100th Calgary Stampede and Mark's place was nice and close enough to downtown to walk or cab for ~$10. We enjoyed having great brunch spots nearby like Diner Deluxe. We arrived during a heatwave and were concerned about the heat but a fan was quickly dropped off for us which was appreciated and helped a lot. We weren't in the house much other than to sleep but it suited our needs perfectly. Would stay again.
