The Desert Casa is the ultimate setting to enjoy complete relaxation in the California high-desert. Situated on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park in Desert Hot Springs’ Spa Zone and only 20 minutes away from downtown Palm Springs, the home is located centrally for a multi-faceted desert getaway. Full of curated mid-modern decor and modern conveniences, our newly remodeled pueblo revival offers a balance of style and comfort for the tranquil unwinding that the desert uniquely provides.

The Desert Casa is located on Miracle Hill in Desert Hot Springs named for its location directly on top of the hot springs that makes Desert Hot Springs famous. The home is perched perfectly for a nice view of the mountains and the vast Sonoran Desert. The home is on a very private oversized lot with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy including lounge chairs, a dining area, sitting area, grill, fire pit, bar, and outdoor TV with cable. Take a swim in the pool by day and relax in the hot tub by night, with the unobstructed view of the San Jacinto Mountains as a backdrop. Inside the home, the tile floors and high ceilings in the home keep the interior cool and airy, especially in the summer months. There is central air conditioning and heating from a brand new Lennox system controlled by the top of the line NEST. Our air filters are cleaned or replaced monthly. Two bedrooms have Hunter overhead fans while the third enjoys an oversized midcentury modern chandelier. While relaxing inside, you can enjoy the oversized peninsula and family sized dining table, as well as the cozy living room with gas fireplace and 60” television. A full-sized cement outdoor dining table is provided for outdoor meals as well.
The hottest mineral aquifer is located in an area of Desert Hot Springs called Miracle Hill which is the hill our home sits atop. This tiny 6 block area is the source of the hottest and richest mineral water in southern California. It is also home to a small number of highly rated resort spas including the world famous Two Bunch Palms Resort (.5 miles) and the natural hot mineral springs of Azure Palms Resort (750 ft) whose natural hot springs are available for public use (with the purchase of a day pass). Also, within one mile from our door are several hiking trails including the Windy Ridge Trail, the Little Morongo Trail, the Blind Canyon Trail, the Swiss Bryce Trail, and the Long Canyon Trail. The Desert Casa is about 500 feet from the western boundary of Joshua tree national park. Please note that this is the boundary of the park (not the park entrance) though several trails starting just up the street lead into the park.
Desert Hot Springs is recognized worldwide for its rich, healing, natural mineral spring water. Desert Hot Springs mineral spring water is world renowned and was voted “best water in the world” in 2020 by Berkeley Springs International Water Competition. Thick and silky, it is rich with silica to soften and moisturize your skin. Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorous, Potassium, Lithium and hundreds of other important trace minerals are absorbed through your skin and are believed to have significant health benefits. While our miracle spring water maintains a high sulfur content it is completely odorless, soft and silky and tastes great.
The Desert Casa is one of the few short-term rental homes in Desert Hot Springs that has access to this very special resource. All of the homes in the Palm Springs area and many in Desert Hot Springs use water transported many miles from the Colorado River. We are very fortunate to have DHS Mineral Spring water flow from all the taps in our home, the showers, and is also the water that we use in the pool and hot tub. You can literally see and taste the difference! We do our best to use the smallest amount of chemicals necessary in our pool and hot tub so you can enjoy the benefits of this very special water with a minimal amount of pool chemicals.
The minerals in this water not only enriches you at The Desert Casa but also provide enrichment for our lush landscaping. We are passionate about our landscaping program and take great pride in presenting over 50 different kinds of regional cactus and succulent specimens. Our landscape is always changing and evolving and great care is taken to maintain a rich and varied collection of local specimens. A wonderful blood orange tree provides delicious fruit that our guests are welcome to pick right off the tree when in season. Guests will often have almost constant visits from hummingbirds when the Mexican Birds of Paradise trees are in bloom and frequent nighttime visits from a small burrowing owl that lives in an owl box around the corner named “Banksy” that likes to check things out from the back of one of our sun chairs from time to time.
One of your hosts (Rob) is the Director of William Turner Gallery in Los Angeles which provides The Desert Casa with the ability to showcase an art program that is second to none. Museum quality original contemporary artworks by some of the finest artists in Southern California grace the walls of The Desert Casa. Beautiful original paintings by world renown artists such as Greg Miller, Michel Tabori, and Barry McGee can be found throughout the house with new artworks gracing the walls on a revolving basis.
Our other passion is to be in the kitchen and our chef’s kitchen is fully stocked with high quality Zwilling and Calphalon pots and pans, a Global brand chef’s knife, a Japanese steel paring knife, a digital meat thermometer and all tools and utensils you need to cook a gourmet meal on our new Samsung gas range. We don’t hide the good stuff for our use when we are at the home, we offer all the same tools in the kitchen that we use ourselves to our guests. We also have an outdoor gas grill and a gouacho grill for a total of three cooking surfaces. Also provided is indoor and outdoor dinnerware and glassware, 3 different coffee makers (regular, french press, and pour-over), a microwave, toaster oven, regular toaster, air fryer, Insta Pot, Ninja Brand Blender and filtered water and ice from our Samsung refrigerator. The home features a full suite of Samsung appliances all of which are under 1 year old including the washer and dryer that is available for guest use.
We love to cook and we are happy to be able to offer our guests extra-virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and a fully stocked complimentary spice rack. We also provide a high quality pink Himalayan salt grinder and a pepper grinder as well. We stock these items for our guests so you will be sure to have everything you need to cook an amazing meal.
Our beds and bed linens are of the highest quality for your comfort and there are plenty of additional pillows and blankets throughout the home to make your stay as cozy and relaxing as possible.
There is also high quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided in each shower.
We ask that you please respectful to our friendly neighbors as we are by keeping noise and music to a minimum. No amplified music is allowed. While the home is designed to be very private, we are still in a residential area. all outdoor noise/voices cutoff time is 9:59pm, in accordance with city ordinances.

Please note that it is very important to us that our cleaning team is using the utmost care in disinfecting the home between all stays during this sensitive time. We use the highest grade of products and our staff has been trained to disinfect all surfaces including all doorknobs and sliding door handles. Additionally, disinfecting cleaner will be left for your use if needed.
