About this listing
A lovely and quiet 2-bedroom flat in the heart of Central / Sheung Wan, easy walking access to SOHO, Macau Ferry, IFC, Airport Express Train in Central and all the sights of HK island. From 32nd floor it is a quiet and calming experience of downtown.
**We have recently opened up the 2nd bedroom and installed a big new bed, Queen size pillow-top brand new mattress, which his excellent for anyone 6' and taller. It looks out over IFC, downtown and a bit of harbour and TST. The flat also now has a 32 in flat screen TV with basic cable channels**
Located near Western Market in downtown Sheung Wan, here You have a dynamic view of the western Victoria Harbour and uniquely quiet but accessible location. You can watch the traffic of ferryboats, cruise ships and fishing boats as well as the city lights of IFC, classic HK tram street Des Voeux Road and a slice of the TST skyline.
Our building is literally a 5 minute walk door to door from the Macau Ferry entrance which means you can take a day or evening trip to Macau and return home after a few hours with no stress and no complicated transfers. We are 5 min from the Sheung Wan MTR station at the end of the Island Line. Another nice option is the HK tram (also known as the 'ding-ding') which is slower but good for sightseeing and romantic at night time. The Macau Ferry bus terminus also located next door is where you can pick up buses to all the major destinations in Hong Kong.
In addition the flat is an easy 10 minute walk along the water to all of the ferries to outlying islands like Lantau, Lamma and Cheung Chau as well as the Star Ferry over to Kowloon. Walking 5 minutes away from the water you are in the antique and art gallery district of Upper Lascar Row and lower Hollywood Rd, Sheung Wan.
The flat accommodates up to 5-6 people with 2 queen size beds in each of two bedrooms as well as a double-size pull-out bed in the living room looking out at the water. All three are very comfortable and we also have black-out curtains in the living room.
Please note - in general flats in Hong Kong are quite a bit smaller than in US/Australia or Europe, or indeed in other parts of the world. This flat is very comfortable but you should not expect huge kitchen, walk in closet or excess space in the bedrooms. You will not find any larger spaces in this district unless you pay much more for it.
You will have all the towels and linens you need as well as soaps but please bring your own shampoo and other personal products. The shower has a sliding door and a bathtub and enough room for western-size people so no need to worry about cramped toilet experiences. There is no TV but we have a good sound system with a cable for your ipad, ipod or laptop and fast WIFI internet. We have air conditioners in each room, as well as a standing rotating fan which is a good option with big open windows.
The flat is very close to the Airport Express and in fact it is an easy walk if you don't have too much luggage. I will usually be traveling out of Hong Kong in the region, but will be available on my local HK phone number and also have a local contact person if you need any help. The flat will be cleaned before and after your stay.
2 Bedrooms each with a Queen size bed. The large living room also has a very comfortable Double bed which pulls out from the sofa, and the room is also equipped with blackout curtains.
I am easy to reach by phone, sms or email at all times. But while you are staying in the flat you will have total privacy and no interruptions.
Check out all the info online and in guidebooks about Central - Sheung Wan. It is definitely a happening neighborhood.
We are 5 min walk to the Sheung Wan MTR, less than 5 min to Macau Ferry terminal and just about 10-15 min walk to IFC / Airport Express.
Please be respectful. Feel free to use anything in the kitchen but just remember to turn off all appliances and turn off aircon when you leave. Enjoy yourself but no parties, no smoking and no red wine on the white couch please. The doormen in the building are great - they will let you in with a wave and a smile, so please be kind to them.
My mother and I rented Eric's apartment for one week and found it to be everything that we needed for our getaway.
The place was clean, and the view was spectacular! Because it was so hot in HK, we would hide in the apartment during the middle of the day and watch the ferries on the harbour before going out in the evening.
My mother and I had different flights, mine was in the morning, and hers was in the evening, Eric was very kind and understanding and let my Mum stay in the apartment until late, arranging for her to leave her luggage in the apartment until she had to go to the airport.
It was a fantastic first Airbnb experience for Mum, and she would use this service again.
We were at Eric's pad during 23-30 May. Here's my top 5, why I will again want to go and stay at this place ( the host willing :): 1) Eric was highly responsive to all my prior enquiries, and I had a lot of them. Sensitive to my request- he held the place on hold for us, though I hadn't made any payment and requested time as our sons passport was undergoing renewal. He added a TV set upon our request, and I am thoroughly grateful for that. He received us and explained the little details inside the flat and then would be available from time to time, be it how the water filter works or recommendations on American / Mexican eateries. Great host there! 2) The flat - exactly like we saw in the pics. Small ( 4 times the average hotel room I suppose !) well equipped self sufficient flat. Fully functional kitchen, though we didn't cook, except for the occasional tea / coffee and heating food. Real bed in one room, very comfortable and cozy. The other room has a futon, which is also comfy. All electrical equipments in fully working condition- I had asked him earlier if the ACs work - I can confirm now they work really well, plus there is a de-humidifier. Finally the bathroom - spacious with a decent size tub. The bathroom scores very high! 3) Views from the flat - over 7 nights, I have 65 snaps of the view - this flat boasts of - harbour facing from living room and 1 bedroom - the morning sky, night sky and the skyline. Perfect setting to sit by the window after a touristy day out , and soak in the view outside. Smug feeling on the 32nd floor. Simply. Plus the view of the bustling western market and the street below from the other bedroom. Happy! 4) Connectivity - very close to nearest MTR station (I.e. Sheung wan ). If one is as choosy as I am on this aspect, then it scores brilliantly as its indeed 3 minutes walk to the MTR. On the other side is Shun Tak shopping mall, which houses all the usual shops and supermarket and the pizza / burger places apart from local eateries. We had many a take aways at the end of a long day. Also if one is travelling with a child the proximity of a 'all essentials under one roof' place helps. 5) also Sheung Wan is a stop away from Central , which is the hub of MTR as far as HK is concerned. A quick note if you are choosing this place: 1) This place can house 2 adults well if you are travelling heavy - so we would keep our stuff in the 2nd room. My guess is if you are travelling light then upto 4 adults is good. 2) Also the location is modern with traditional thrown in (or maybe the other way round ). This...
We had a great time in this apartment. We stayed for 2 weeks as a family of 4 (two adults, a 4yo and 2yo) and would recommend it. We would stay again. It's well described, and was exactly as we expected. The photos give a correct impression of its size - not huge, but reasonably sized for Hong Kong.
The main bed is very comfortable, the futon in the second bedroom is harder but still fine. We didn't use the sofa bed in the living room. The views are amazing in two directions. The kitchen is small and rather limited (two hob rings and a microwave, no oven) but we only used it for breakfast and a couple of dinners. The flat is surrounded by restaurants. The bathroom was good, and we enjoyed having a real bath as well as a shower.
Transport links are excellent (tram / bus right outside, MTR 5 minutes away, taxis easy to find, Macao ferry right there). It's also nice to be next to a landmark (Western Market) to tell to taxi drivers!
The apartment was clean, and Eric arranged for it to be cleaned once during our stay at no cost to us, which we appreciated. He was generally very responsive, flexible about check-out, available to help but relaxed.
What about negative things? We had some electrical problems with the fusebox in the first couple of days, which were sorted out completely so shouldn't affect future guests, but it meant we had no air conditioning for the first 48 hours which was tough! Also, for families with young children like us, the flat is not completely child-proofed (which I guess we wouldn't expect since no children live there). In particular, the doors inside the flat can be locked by pressing a button on the inside door handle, so a toddler could lock themselves in a room without an adult. Also, the windows in the living room can be climbed up to by a child, so leaving them open on the 32nd floor was not an option for us!
Eric made us feel very welcome even though we did not meet him in person. He answered all our queries and helped us settle in. The location of the apartment was great. It was a good size and we felt at home. We highly recommend Eric's apartment.
My husband, friends, and I enjoyed our stay at Harbor View. Accommodations were adequate for two couples. View of harbor was nice and proximity to public transit was good. Should we ever return to Hong Kong we would stay here again.
Eric is a great host. He met us right at Western Market and showed us to the apartment nearby. Eric made clear that he was available by phone to answer any questions about the apartment or its surroundings. Indeed, when we had a question about where to have laundry done we called him and he was ready with a place to go.
About the apartment. It is actually a fairly large 2BR, by Hong Kong standards. The bathroom has instant-on hot water and a regular bathtub. The kitchen has two gas burners and a small refrigerator. Fantastic views of the harbor from all windows. The bedrooms are just big enough to fit queen sized beds. If you've been to Hong Kong before, you know that the above cannot be assumed. But it's all there in Eric's apartment.
The best thing about Eric's place is the location. It is literally central to everything in Hong Kong, and just steps from the Sheung Wan metro. I highly recommend staying at Eric's place.
