This newly renovated 2 bedroom apartment, known as "Above Monroe," is located on the second floor of a charming, two-flat home built in 1939. It is located in The Dudgeon-Monroe neighborhood, one of Madison's most desirable places to live and visit. Outside, it has a fresh coat of paint - tan with white trim, black shutters, and a "Badger Red" door. And inside, the apartment is thoughtfully decorated with a fresh color palette and stylish furnishings and accessories.

The space
There is plenty of room to relax & kick back and enjoy the morning sun in a living room with Roku TV, pull-out couch & leather swivel chair. The living room opens up to a dining area with four chairs. The kitchen boasts new cabinetry, quartz countertops, new stainless steel appliances, and a breakfast bar with four stools. The bathroom has been updated as well and is stocked with extra toiletries just in case. One bedroom has a king bed with a 5 drawer dresser, closet, and Roku TV. There is an iron and table top iron board in the closet in this bedroom. The second bedroom has two twin beds and a closet. This stylish apartment has all the comforts of home including central air (controlled by a nest thermostat), fresh linens, towels, coffee, tea & breakfast bars. Feel free to use the gas grill ~ please remember to turn off the gas and clean the grates when you are through. Help yourself to a complimentary postcard and stamp and drop a note to a friend or family member. And please don't forget to sign our guest book!

Parking:
We have one parking space available in the garage (we will provide you with the garage code). Guests must park IN the garage, NOT on the driveway, to allow room for other tenants'/guests' cars to get in and out as needed. The garage will not accomodate large SUVs (ie: Suburbans) or pick up trucks. On-street, overnight parking is also available.

Plow Service:
During the winter months, we have a plow service for the driveway but we cannot guarantee that snow will be removed promptly on the driveway or walk-ways during your stay. We keep a shovel and a bucket of salt next to each door, just in case you need it.

Common Spaces:
Please do not use the basement. Since the building is shared with other guests, respect and quiet are very important.

*Note about other available units:
We have two other airbnb units available in the same building if you need more space: 1) another 2 bedroom apartment called "Spacious, stylish apt. < 1 mi to Camp Randall" (https://www.airbnb.com/h/off-monroe) with an identical floor plan located on the first floor of the house and 2) an efficiency apartment, called "Charming, renovated studio < 1 mi. to Camp Randall" (https://www.airbnb.com/h/the-porch) with a private entrance that has a twin bed, bathroom, and kitchenette. These spaces are rented separately so there's no guarantee they will be available to coincide with your stay at "Above Monroe" but please feel free to ask.

Other things to note
This is an old house with hard wood floors that can be creaky. Please be aware that you will most likely hear activity from the apartment downstairs. We encourage our guests to respect our quiet hours but you can expect to hear the sounds of life - muffled voices, footsteps, the TV - coming from downstairs. If you're very sensitive to noise, please consider packing ear plugs!

Location

Madison, Wisconsin, United States

"Above Monroe" is located off of bustling Monroe Street, a trendy & hip neighborhood which is home to nearly 100 locally-owned businesses, including coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques. Quaint, two-story homes shaded by large trees line the residential streets. The apartment is a block away from Edgewood College, and less than a mile to Camp Randall stadium at UW-Madison. It is also close to Lake Wingra & water activities, the southwest bike path, the metro bus, the 1200 acre UW Arboretum, and the Henry Vilas Zoo. It's in a perfect spot to enjoy all that Madison has to offer.

This neighborhood is surrounded by natural resources all year long! In the warmer months, rent a canoe, kayak, or SUP across the street at Lake Wingra; hop on a bike and head to the State Capital on the bike path; or hike, ski or snow-shoe at the neighboring University of Wisconsin Arboretum.

"Above Monroe" is in a quiet neighborhood but the driveway is on a bustling street so some normal street noise is to be expected but the bedrooms are in the back of the apartment.

My name is Ann and I live in Winnetka, IL, but I was born and raised on the east coast and lived there before moving to the Chicagoland area six years ago with my family - my husband, two daughters & a black lab, named Scout. I love traveling & exploring new places; boating and water skiing; reading & photography. My daughter is a student at UW-Madison so we are Badger fans and love cheering them on. We became property managers when we bought our house in Madison in 2018 because my husband works quite a bit in Madison and uses the house as home base at times. He loves any and all tools and has enjoyed renovating our airbnb spaces. We've embraced our new role as landlords & airbnb hosts & have enjoyed meeting people from around the world! We look forward to welcoming you!
