Try life here in the slow lane for a week or two. Wiggle your toes in the sand. Step out of bed each morning onto exotic hardwood and hand-fired tile floors. Count the monkeys and parrots during breakfast, eat lunch under a palapa on the beach and grill your catch-of-the-day for your dinner table.

This place is amazing. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. The views are beautiful the house is beautiful. IF you like to cook the kitchen is spectacular for these parts. I can not say enough good things about how peaceful and relaxing this house is. The staff was over the top helpful from helping us deal with getting a car to getting us rides places when we didn't want to use car, to telling us the best places to go. Its a great house for a group since none of the bedrooms are attached to the common area/kitchen so whoever got up first could make breakfast or hang out with out waking up everyone else.
The road to get up to the house is no joke so give yourself enough time it takes longer than you think. If you want to be in town ragging until the wee hours (which we were not) then getting home could be rough. Not impossible but rough.
We had a great experience and the best trip and would come back again, in fact I don't think there is anywhere else that we saw (hotels included) I would stay in SJDS.
This place is heaven on earth. My fiancé and I were completely in awe of the gorgeous property and this ingenious jungle house. The kitchen is excellent, well-stocked with spices and tools, and has (probably) the only in-sink garbage disposal in Nicaragua! We drove ourselves from Managua and although that was quite an process, we figured it out without too much trouble. Nicole from Remax gave us a very helpful and thorough welcome, showing us around the house and giving us plenty of tips to make the best of our stay. We loved waking up early and hearing the wind rifling through the lovely trees, the occasional howler monkey, and birds. Belkis and the Balcones staff could not have been more courteous or helpful; they dealt with repairs immediately, cleaned the pool daily, and the 24-hour security helped us feel safe and secure. The nearby beaches were astonishingly beautiful and the bumpy drive was part of the adventure. SJDS is close and the town has plenty of fun beach bars. We completely fell in love with this place and want to come back soon to share it with our friends! Thanks so much Laura, Nicole, Belkis, and your staff!
We had the best time at this house. The staff welcoming us was amazing and so accommodating. They showed us around town and took us to the house and showed us the best spots. The house was stunning. The only one downfall was there were a ton of bugs because we went in the dry season. It had nothing to do with the house-the house was perfect. But because of the season we were always fighting bugs so it was a bit hard to relax. I guess that's the ups and downs of staying in the jungle. We saw the coolest monkeys and the house was secluded and amazing, but we did have lots of critters and woke up early to the birds and monkeys. Overall, we loved the place!
Aly- so glad you enjoyed your stay at the house- we certainly enjoyed hosting you. The end of dry season definitely can mean bugs- bees etc who are thirsty and hanging at the pool with you. We are certainly glad you understood mother nature is the boss though- Congratulations on your marriage- wishing you years of happiness!
Casa Tranquila is an amazing experience. We were a group of 8 and stayed here for 8 nights - it's really a unique place to live and we fitted comfortably. Pictures don't do the place justice - the pool area at sunset is remarkable. REMAX were almost always helpful.
Fully recommend staying here. Few minor issues with losing power and there's an additional fee for using the washer/dryer. Cleaner came twice only. Other than that, where else can you truly live within the central american jungle but be overlooking the ocean? An unforgettable experience.
Everything was very simple, as far as meeting the property managers, them showing you around town, helping you grocery shop and prepare for your stay! When you arrive at the home, it is mesmerizing! The photos do not do this home justice! We stayed in 3 different homes while in NICA, and Casa Tranquila was hands down the most amazing place we stayed! You have all the amenities you need! Best part, you are sooooo close to playa maderas!!! So if you love to surf, or just watch the waves break the beach..... This is your home!!!!!
We came with a group of 6 people and absolutely loved it! The open layout was great for our group and lots of areas to hang out. The monkeys will wake you up early so get some sleep once the sun goes down. The guards and staff are very helpful. Make sure you rent a jeep to get around because you'll be at the top of a steep and long hill. Views and sunsets are amazing. San Juan del sur has lots of activities and places to eat. The beaches nearby are good quality for sports and suntanning. Get a beach umbrella because there are few naturally shady spots.
Absolutely stunning! Loved our stay. The monkeys will wake you up with the sun but it's part of the adventure. We fell in love with Nicaragua because of the view from casa tranquila and ended up looking at real estate too. A perfect trip!

About the Host, Laura (And Joel)
We are just two travel loving people who fell in love with the country of Nicaragua and ended up buying our dream home! While we try and spend as much time there as possible, occasionally, we do have to work- and we do want to keep discovering this amazing planet. While we are doing this, we are happy to offer homes in our community to others to enjoy and discover this truly amazing country! San Juan del Sur Nicaragua is the place to come for travellers who are looking for surf, sunshine and a little adventure, and we try our best to make our home a little piece of luxury to come and relax in between all that fun! Through renting our own personal home Casa Selva- I fell into assisting my amazing neighbours in Balcones de Majagual with renting their homes- the rest they say is history. You couldn't pick a better spot in Nicaragua- and you couldn't pick better guests than myself and my husband Joel!
