Hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing or just relaxing and watching the stars from the hot tub - come and enjoy the tranquility here in Oberwilzingen together with your partner, friends or family just a two-kilometer walk from the beautiful Lautertal.
The space
Relax in our spaciously converted barn in the biosphere area of the Swabian Alps for 2 to 4 people. In summer, a huge terrace offers space for cozy, undisturbed evenings outdoors, while in winter, stoves in the living room and bedroom invite you to spend cozy hours by the crackling fireplace.
In the bedroom downstairs there is a large bed with two mattresses (1.80 m wide in total). The room can be darkened a little with roller blinds and curtains.
The bedroom on the open gallery offers a 1.40 m-wide double bed under the open beam.
The living room and bedroom are heated with wood-burning stoves. In addition, there are two electric heaters in the bedroom. Underfloor heating is installed in the bathroom.
Feel free to use the hot tub. After each guest it is cleaned and refilled. It is heated with fire and takes three to four hours to get really hot the first time it is heated. The first time we fire it up for you, then we'll show you how it works so you can use it whenever you want. With a net and water vacuum, you can clean the water if you want.
Another cleaning and fresh filling of the pool costs €30, which must then be paid locally.
Firewood for the stoves and for the fire pit on the terrace is at your disposal. The garden with the huge meadow and our grove may of course be used by you. We live in the farmhouse next door and are happy to help you with your concerns. Nevertheless, the barn is a closed building where you can fully enjoy your privacy.
Included: Filling the hot tub and heating at the time you want; various teas and coffee.
Other things to note
You can park directly in the meadow in front of your blue door. A small driveway leads between the two large barns at the sign that reads “Ferienhaus” to your cottage.
To get from the living room or bedroom in the gallery to the bathroom, the lower bedroom must be crossed once or walked around the house once.
More info
Our place is a good starting point for hikes and bike rides in the surrounding area. Directly from the house are the most beautiful hikes into the Lautertal to the Wartstein ruin, to the small waterfall of the Hoher Gießel and to the Schwarzlochfelsen (all 1.5-2 h round trip). You can walk comfortably to Maisenburg in a good hour (easy), to Anhausen in 1 hour 15 minutes. The Lauter confluence with the Danube can be reached from here in about 2 hours (easy).
By the way: The Great Lautertal with its famous juniper heaths, caves, forests, albtypical rock formations and picturesque villages was chosen as the winner of "Germany's Natural Wonder 2019" by the umbrella organization of the German large protected areas and the Heinz Sielmann Foundation in 2019 and is considered the most castle-rich valley in all of Germany, so a visit is definitely worthwhile.
The nearest town with shopping, restaurants and the famous Naturtheater is Hayingen (4 km). Other great destinations in the area are the Glastal, the Wimsener Höhle, the Marbach State Stud, the cathedral in Zwiefalten and the Obermarchtal Monastery, Mochental Castle with its art exhibitions and the Biosphere Center in Münsingen. Ulm can be reached in 45 minutes by car or train from Rechtenstein.
If you arrive by train, we would be happy to pick you up in Rechtenstein. We also drive you to the starting or ending point of your hike for a small fee. You are welcome to use the washing machine over in our house.

From the host
Oberwilzingen has only about 35 inhabitants. The nearest major town is Hayingen, where there is a small supermarket and restaurants. On our property, the reception of cellular network and mobile data is only poorly available. Wi-Fi is available, but it is too slow for larger amounts of data.

After using Airbnb accommodations for a year in many parts of the world and on other vacations, we are pleased to have been able to offer our own vacation home for vacationers since 2020. We had very specific ideas about how everything should be, and we are very satisfied with the result. We hope to provide guests with a nice stay at the Swabian Alb we loved.
