Gorgeous 2 story, 2 bedroom apartment on edge of rice fields, 2 separate patios. Great restaurants close by, easy road access without the noise. Gated with private entrance, scooter parking, wifi, fans, windows, breezes, rice field & tree top views.

The space

The upper floor of this 3 story home is 2 story with 2 separate living spaces with a separate kitchen and bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen, refrigerator, 2 burner stove, juicer, blender etc. Bathroom shower, queen bed, daybed, mosquito nets and a floor fan. Could comfortably accommodate 2 couples or 2 adults and 2 children, although please note that if you are only renting the upstairs we do not accept children under the age of 12.

The top floor has a wooden floor perfect for a yoga practice.

This property is for rent alone or in conjunction with the downstairs apartment, in which case the tenants will have access to the saltwater pool.

Please note: unless this apartment is rented with the downstairs apartment, there will NOT be access to the pool.

We also ask prospective tenants to please note that there are 2 floors to the upstairs apartment, and consequently 2 separate flights of stairs, and these are fairly steep. If you have any trouble with mobility or an aversion to going up and down stairs then this is probably not the ideal location for you.

Very close to the main road, motorcycle parking available right at the entrance, yet completely screened from all traffic noises. On the edge of the rice fields with access to countless restaurants, a yoga studio, meditation center, easy access to a supermarket, and only a 1.5 km walk or a short drive to central Ubud.

Light cleaning, gardener and hi-speed wifi included.

Breakfast or any other meals are NOT included in the rental price. Neither are airport transfers.

Respectfully we ask that guests not bargain on the price, which is fixed. We are Balinese owned and run, we have invested all of our time and resources into this project and it supports our extended family. Thank you for understanding.

Please note: checkout is at 12:00 pm and check in at 2:00 pm, we are usually fully booked, and we always need a full 2 hours of cleaning to prepare for our next guests. Our staff all have family, temple and community obligations which are impacted if they have to work late, plus any late check outs will mean the potential loss of a night's rental. We will happily hold your bags in a safe place for you, but please book an extra night if you need to stay on the premises later than noon.

For arrivals at the house at or after 9:00 pm there is a late check-in fee of Rp 150,000. This late fee will not apply if you use one of our drivers to bring you to the house, as they will also be able to walk you and your bags into the house and complete the check in process for you. They are all either family members or completely familiar with our property. The manager will then see you the following morning.

Airport transfers, laundry service and cooking can be arranged for an extra price. Excellent recommendations for massage therapists, shiatsu, reflexology and beauty treatments at the house. We also have scooters and motorbikes available for rent.

Nearest Airport : Denpasar DPS at 27 Miles
Nearest Beach : Padang Bai/Sanur at 25 Miles
Nearest Golf : Sanur at 25 Miles
Nearest Restaurant : Made Warung/Lallalili Warung at 200 Metres
Car: not necessary

Penestanan is a lovely rice field village, which is also the centre for 'Young Artists' in Bali, and many other handicrafts. It is a comfortable 1.5 km stroll from central Ubud (one steep hill), a one hour drive from the airport, several beaches and the volcano in central Ubud. The rice fields themselves are car-free, although there is motorbike access, it is serene and filled with natural beauty, and much flora, fauna and wild-life. It is close to all the activities, yet in a unique and tranquil setting. Higher and towards the foothills of the volcano, still tropical but not as hot as the beach areas. This is the cultural centre of Bali, and besides the local artists there are several art galleries and museums, plus every evening there are traditional dance performances, besides local temple ceremonies, where visitors are always welcome. There are countless wonderful restaurants for all budgets, great night-life, yoga studios and access to every healing modality imaginable.

Guest access

Wifi. If the lower floor is also rented you have the pool, if not for a small fee you can use the pool right next door at Melati Cottages. The property is gated and highly secure.

Interaction with guests

We are on call almost 24/7 for our guests (within reason:). There is daily cleaning (with occasional days off for ceremonies or family time), and we will check in with regularly to see how we can make your stay more pleasant.

Other things to note

For the comfort of all our guests do not accept guests with children under 12 years old in the upstairs apartment, unless they are renting the entire house.

Please do not play music that can be heard beyond the bungalow; the rice fields are quiet and serene; noise carries deceptively far, and we like to be considerate of our neighbours ... then they are far more likely to do the same for us! Also no practicing or playing of musical instruments please. Headsets work best, and great for watching movies etc.

Check in is any time after 2:00 pm.

Breakfast or any other meals are not included.

For arrivals at the house at or after 9:00 pm there is a late check-in fee of Rp 150,000. This late fee will not apply if you use one of our drivers to bring you to the house, as they will also be able to walk you and your bags into the house and complete the check in process for you. Children, unless babes in arms, do count as residents so we would appreciate it if you would count them in the number of guests. Thank you.

House Rules
Check in is anytime after 2PM
Check out by 12PM (noon)

We welcome you and ask that you agree to these few requests before sharing our lovely house.

The rental includes Nano as a manager, there is a pembantu (helper) and gardener, and the houses are equipped with many of the family's personal belongings.
1. Before you use anything in the house e.g. juicer, towels, we ask that you be willing to replace anything that is damaged or lost. Everything will be in full working order when you rent the house, and we ask that it be that way when you leave.
2. We suggest you bring a photocopy of your passport, it is required by law that all visitors be registered, and this will eliminate the need for Nano to take your actual passport to the police station.
3. Please feel free to read our books, but please let them stay when you leave!
4. Nano will bill you for any provisions used up that were already in the house.
4. There is unlimited, high speed Internet access included.
5. This is a safe area, however we are not responsible for any valuables left in the house. Please keep your travel documents, money and any valuables in the safe provided.
6. Smoking is only permitted on the outside patios. Additionally, please don't dispose of your cigarette butts in the garden and be sure to always use an ashtray. Thank you for your consideration with this.
7. Please maintain quiet after 10pm, many of our other guests choose to go to bed early in order to make the most of the daylight hours.
8. The staff are of course the most important consideration, and we ask that you treat them with kindness and respect. Their duties are specific and include : Cleaning the house and maintaining the garden, or shopping for household requirements.

The staff will be available at the house for approximately 2 hours per day, in the morning, unless prior arrangements are made in advance. All the staff have families and commitments to the temple and community. If it is not convenient that they clean during their usual hours, then they will come the following day.

The staff are not paid or obligated to do anything beyond this, so kindly reimburse them financially for anything additional you ask them to do, and that they agree to, such as staying late, changing their hours, washing or mending your clothes, driving you anywhere on their motor-bikes, or running errands unrelated to the required shopping.

If you require laundry service, they can do this for you, or there is a local place with the same rates that they charge ... and fast service, there is a sheet with itemised prices in the house.

You will be provided with one large towel per person per stay/week, if you require extras we will be happy to provide them for the posted laundry rates.

Please make any and all arrangements for additional services through Nano.

If you require any food shopping in advance of your arrival, please let Nano know; a detailed accounting will be provided for you, and you can pay for this at check-in.

The staff has every Sunday off, and please be respectful if they on occasion need time off for ceremonies, these are a very important part of village life.

We have access to motor-bikes/scooters that can be rented for Rp 60,000 a day.

If you would like anyone to take you around the local area on their motor-bikes, the cost is 50,000 ($4+) rupiah per hour (min 50,000 rupiah).

Also if you require any personal errands run: the charge is 50,000 rupiah per hour, 1 hour minimum.

We are in the middle of the working rice fields and, occasionally usually for brief amounts of time, there can be issues with the electricity, internet or water. Please be be patient and understanding when this happens, it is a small price to pay for being in such a magical spot.
Also, the area is teeming with birds and wild-life, occasionally these critters might "trespass" ... they have no idea of what man-made boundaries mean. The staff cleans thoroughly daily, so be assured we move them on and there are no actual "residents".

Our stay at two seasons was amazing! Nano helped us graciously with everything from our arrival in Ubud to swimming with elephants. The apartment was very nice, clean and spacious. We enjoyed having a fridge, kitchen and patio to ourselves for a few days. Thank you two seasons and Nano for making our Ubud experience phenomenal.

We enjoyed our stay here more than any place in Bali. Everything was all well laid out, super clean, and ready for a visit. We really appreciated the rides to and from the airport end the ride around the area north of Ubud. Location: views from all the windows were fantastic, it could not have been any better. It was just far enough off the main road to be very peaceful, and the path outside the gate joined up with the other walking paths in the area going to several great restaurants. We ate at the two restaurants closest to our lodging and also for restaurants out along the paths. We would recommend them all.

My mother and I stayed at Two Seasons from June 1-4. Ilhu was very friendly and a good host. The location of Two Seasons was fantastic, if you're looking to stay in Penestanan, which is a very charming village just outside of Ubud, with many footpaths leading to all sorts of interesting shops and restaurants. Two Seasons is just 5 minutes from Lala Lili, a great little cafe, and 10 minutes from Intuitive Flow yoga studio and Yellow Flower Cafe, two other must-tries in the area. My mother and I walked into Ubud daily -- it's a 15 minute walk with one steep hill, but it was not a difficult walk at all. Maps are provided in Two Seasons. The bungalow itself is in a private compound with a locked front door to get into the compound itself, and two locked doors to enter Two Seasons apartment. This made the location feel very secure. Although there is no air conditioning, the fans insured that the apartment never felt stuffy. The patio on the first floor is just great: clean patio furniture with nice, green views. the views themselves were nice but expansive: like others have said, you can indeed see the properties next to you. But it was green and felt private, and that's what we were looking for. The shower and bathroom were just fine -- the shower had hot water and good water pressure. The bedding was clean. Overall, this bungalow is a fantastic value for your money, and I highly recommend! The only negative is the bugs -- if you are VERY averse to bugs or lizards, you should stay elsewhere. It is just a part of life in a light, airy apartment like this, and the hosts do provide both bug spray and a more serious bug repellant you can spray around the apartment to fend off ants.

Staying at two seasons was great (we stayed for 8 days). The location is perfect, 5 min motorbike ride (maybe 10-15 min on a bicycle) to "downtown" Ubud, but situated in a quieter, less crowded area. There are a couple great, "green" cafe's in the area. Lots of vegetarian options. We weren't able to use the downstairs pool but were able to use the pool down the street at the Melati cottages for a few dollars. Our guest Nano helped us arrange motorbike rentals, day trips, transportation, and whatever else we needed. He was very responsive, and very friendly. The power went out in the villa a few times, for a few minutes, but returned soon after. And yes, "critters" in the villa (like geckos), but my two little kids enjoyed that. Quite a good stay and a bargain IMO.

My friends and I absolutely loved this apartment! We all relaxed the moment we checked in and felt completely renewed when we checked out. The space is clean, comfortable and beautiful, the views are lovely, and the staff are wonderful. They even brought us some fresh rambutan to enjoy on the balcony! Although it is a little bit far from town, the slight inconvenience is completely worth the peaceful atmosphere.

This place was fantastic! Everything I could have wanted and more. So clean, hot hot shower with great water pressure and in a lovely location just 5 min walk from my favorite raw food spot, alchemy. There was a big of construction goin on in the day but other than that is was very quiet. I would defiantly stay here again. Kitchen was also fully stocked with a blender which was so convenient. Great value for the price. Thanks nano and Evelyn!!

This place is quite close to Ubud centre. It probably approx 20 min beautiful walk to the centre or 5 min by motorbike. The place it self its very nice, it will accommodate 4 or 5 people easily. They have 2 double bed and extra foldable single bed. The host was very prompt in solving the issues we have got (we need motorbike to rent, a bucket to wash dirty laundry, water wasn't running for a brief moment and the staff showed in 5 min to fix it, also pick up service to airport). They also had a cleaning service who will clean the place everyday. They have a renovation for downstairs apt (the other listing), so it will be a bit noisy. But for us it doesn't matter because we leave the house in the morning and come back in the evening. So we didn't bother with any noise or whatsoever. The cons - its a bit packed with other houses, so you will see other neighbor window. But we hardly see the neighbor anyway. All in all it was a great place to stay, next time we come back to Ubud i will try the downstairs apt, I think there will be a pool in there (it was on the progress when we stayed there). Thanks again for hosting us Ilhu! :)

Thanks Ririen, the staff all really enjoyed having you stay. The pool and renovation will be finished very soon (before Dec, 2013), thanks for being so patient and understanding about that!
