Breakfast or any other meals are NOT included in the rental price. Neither are airport transfers.

Respectfully we ask that guests not bargain on the price, which is fixed. We are Balinese owned and run, we have invested all of our time and resources into this project and it supports our extended family. Thank you for understanding.

Please note: checkout is at 12:00 pm and check in at 2:00 pm, we are usually fully booked, and we always need a full 2 hours of cleaning to prepare for our next guests. Our staff all have family, temple and community obligations which are impacted if they have to work late, plus any late check outs will mean the potential loss of a night's rental. We will happily hold your bags in a safe place for you, but please book an extra night if you need to stay on the premises later than noon.

For arrivals at the house at or after 9:00 pm there is a late check-in fee of Rp 150,000. This late fee will not apply if you use one of our drivers to bring you to the house, as they will also be able to walk you and your bags into the house and complete the check in process for you. They are all either family members or completely familiar with our property. The manager will then see you the following morning.

Daily cleaning, gardener and hi-speed wifi.

PLEASE NOTE, THIS PROPERTY IS ON THE EDGE OF LIVING, WORKING RICE FIELDS, AND THERE ARE CREATURES AROUND. THE PROPERTY IS THOROUGHLY CLEANED DAILY (INCLUDING THE BEDS STRIPPED AND SWEPT), BUT THE OCCASIONAL ANTS, FROG, LIZARD OR ANY OTHER LOCAL CREATURE MAY ENCROACH ON OCCASION. IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH, SENSITIVE OR HAVE ANY KIND OF AVERSION TO SUCH A POSSIBILITY, THEN WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CHOOSE ANOTHER OF THE BALI LOCATIONS THAT IS NOT SO MUCH A PART OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. WE DO NOT HAVE AC (NOR DO WE WANT IT), AND CHOOSE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NATURAL BREEZES, FLOOR AND CEILING FANS. AIR CONDITIONED ACCOMMODATIONS ARE FAR LESS LIKELY TO HAVE ANY IMPACT FROM THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT, AS THEY ARE GENERALLY AIRTIGHT AND FULLY CLOSED OFF.

Airport transfers and laundry service can be arranged for an extra price. Excellent recommendations for massage therapists, shiatsu, reflexology and beauty treatments at the house. We also have scooters and motorbikes available for rent.

Penestanan is a lovely rice field village, which is also the centre for 'Young Artists' in Bali, and many other handicrafts. It is a comfortable 1.5 km stroll from central Ubud (one steep hill), a one hour drive from the airport, several beaches and the volcano in central Ubud. The rice fields themselves are car-free, although there is motorbike access, it is serene and filled with natural beauty, and much flora, fauna and wild-life. It is close to all the activities, yet in a unique and tranquil setting. Higher and towards the foothills of the volcano, still tropical but not as hot as the beach areas. This is the cultural centre of Bali, and besides the local artists there are several art galleries and museums, plus every evening there are traditional dance performances, besides local temple ceremonies, where visitors are always welcome. There are countless wonderful restaurants for all budgets, great night-life, yoga studios and access to every healing modality imaginable.

Double gated, completely private entrance, private pool, excellent wifi.

We are on call almost 24/7 for our guests (within reason:). There is daily cleaning (with occasional ceremonial or family days off) and we will check in with regularly to see how we can make your stay more pleasant.

Great restaurants, working rice fields, authentic village life, our guests are most welcome to any temple ceremonies. Local shops, strolls through the fields and village. Local artisans, galleries, yoga studio. Easy access to central Ubud, a 20 minute (1.5 km) stroll or easy taxi ride away.

Scooters, taxis, bicycles, easy access to central Ubud by foot (1.5 km away)

We are happy to arrange airport transfers, we will meet you with a sign, and be there even if your flight is delayed. We always charge the going rate; currently 350,000 rupiah during the day, 400,000 rupiah after dark. This is very roughly $30 - $35.

Please do not play music that can be heard beyond the bungalow; the rice fields are quiet and serene; noise carries deceptively far, and we like to be considerate of our neighbours ... then they are far more likely to do the same for us! Also no practicing or playing of musical instruments please. Headsets work best, and great for watching movies etc.

We welcome you and ask that you agree to these few requests before sharing our lovely house.

The rental includes Nano as a manager, there is a pembantu (helper) and gardener, and the houses are equipped with many of the family's personal belongings.
1. Before you use anything in the house e.g. juicer, towels, we ask that you be willing to replace anything that is damaged or lost. Everything will be in full working order when you rent the house, and we ask that it be that way when you leave.
2. We suggest you bring a photocopy of your passport, it is required by law that all visitors be registered, and this will eliminate the need for Nano to take your actual passport to the police station.
3. Please feel free to read our books, but please let them stay when you leave!
4. Nano will bill you for any provisions used up that were already in the house.
4. There is unlimited, high speed Internet access included.
5. This is a safe area, however we are not responsible for any valuables left in the house. Please keep your travel documents, money and any valuables in the safe provided.
6. Smoking is only permitted in the garden. Additionally, please don't dispose of your cigarette butts in the garden and be sure to always use an ashtray. Thank you for your consideration with this.
7. Please maintain quiet after 10pm, many of our other guests choose to go to bed early in order to make the most of the daylight hours.
8. The staff are of course the most important consideration, and we ask that you treat them with kindness and respect. Their duties are specific and include : Cleaning the house and maintaining the garden Shopping for household requirements.

The staff will be available at the house for approximately 2 hours per day, in the morning, unless prior arrangements are made in advance. All the staff have families and commitments to the temple and community. If it is not convenient that they clean during their usual hours, then they will come the following day.

The staff are not paid or obligated to do anything beyond this, so kindly reimburse them financially for anything additional you ask them to do, and that they agree to, such as staying late, changing their hours, cooking meals, washing or mending your clothes, driving you anywhere on their motor-bikes, or running errands unrelated to the required shopping.

If you require laundry service, they can do this for you, or there is a local place with the same rates that they charge ... and fast service, there is a sheet with itemised prices in the house.

You will be provided with one large towel per person per stay/week, if you require extras we will be happy to provide them for the posted laundry rates.

Please make any and all arrangements for additional services through Nano.

If you require any food shopping in advance of your arrival, please let Nano know; a detailed accounting will be provided for you, and you can pay for this at check-in.

The staff has every Sunday off, and please be respectful if they on occasion need time off for ceremonies, these are a very important part of village life.

We have access to motor-bikes/scooters that can be rented for Rp 60,000 ($5 +) rupiah a day.

If you would like anyone to take you around the local area on their motor-bikes, the cost is 50,000 ($4+) rupiah per hour (min 50,000 rupiah).

Also if you require any personal errands run: the charge is 50,000 rupiah per hour (1 hr minimum).

Please do not play music that can be heard beyond the bungalow; the rice fields are quiet and serene; noise carries deceptively far, and we like to be considerate of our neighbours ... then they are far more likely to do the same for us! Also no practising or playing of musical instruments please. Headsets work best, and great for watching movies etc.

We are in the middle of the working rice fields and, occasionally usually for brief amounts of time, there can be issues with the electricity, internet or water. Please be be patient and understanding when this happens, it is a small price to pay for being in such a magical spot.
Also, the area is teeming with birds and wild-life, occasionally these critters might "trespass" ... they have no idea of what man-made boundaries mean. The staff cleans thoroughly daily, so be assured we move them on and there are no actual "residents".

The place was truly perfect -- perhaps more beautiful than the photos. It's a little removed from town, but I preferred that. Nano was a pleasure to work with and very communicative throughout booking and our stay. I highly recommend this place and Nano as a host.

I cant think of enough good things to say about Nano and this beautiful home. The property is even better than the pictures, if that's possible. The neighborhood is awesome and has fantastic restaurants and cafes within very close walking distance, and taxis readily available if you dont want to walk into the center of Ubud. We needed laundry done, Nano arranged everything for us and it was returned the same day. We were sad to leave but Nano got us a great driver to take us to our next destinaton- he was great and told us so much about Bali on the way. Book this home now!

Thank you so much, Jessica, and we can't say enough good things about you either. You are exactly the kind of guest who makes it such a pleasure to be an airbnb host.

Nano, the owner and host, was incredibly timely and polite in communication leading up to the trip. Upon arriving in Ubud, Nano met us at the nearest warung (Warung Bubu) and personally brought us to the home, which was located within a walled community behind that warung (but still well within walking distance to many great things). If you do rent a car here, there is a spot available to you in a nearby facility or Warung Bubu. The home is part of a three story building as you can see from one of the pictures and the second story unit is also available for rent. The entryways are separate so you likely won't interact with other guests. The home was just as beautiful -- if not more -- than the pictures. We found it to be incredibly clean and quiet, and the pool a fantastic addition. To note though, the main bed is located in the larger living area so you do not have two individual bedrooms. There is a smaller bedroom off the back near the bathroom that would provide a formal bedroom. Still the home provides plenty of room and could easily accommodate 5 people using the couch in the living area as well. The main bedroom area walls also open up to the pool so you have a wonderful view from bed if desired. The home has several ceiling and floor fans to keep the home cool during the day and night. We felt very secure here, as was our impression elsewhere on the island. We also were able to stay easily connected with consistent WiFi here (which we did not always find during our stay elsewhere on the island). The main street where the house is located (Jalan Penestanan) provides a number of eateries, bars, laundry service, and other facilities you might need. The property feels very secluded, but still is near so many things. Within a 15 minute walk, you can also access central Ubud and all this provides, or spend 40-50 IDR ($3-4 USD) from a nearby taxi stand to get there. We found Ubud to be quite busy for driving and without much parking due to the frequent day trips arriving from the Kuta area, so for the small price and large convenience we took advantage of the nearby taxis. Since we were touring the island, we also had a rental vehicle which allowed us the luxury of exploring all around the greater Ubud area, including the nearby rice terraces in Tegallalang, coffee and spice plantations, and Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave). A taxi could be easily arranged though to take you to any of these places within a 30 minute drive. We loved our stay and hope to return someday!

My friend and I stayed at Two Seasons as we were attending yoga classes at Ananda Cottages. The accommodation is in a great location, away from the busy town centre, but is still within walking distance. There are plenty of great cafes and restaurants on the same street. The villa is better than in the photographs, with Bali charm, kept clean and tidy. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the necessary appliances for making food at home. The floor plan was a little tricky with the second bedroom coming off the bathroom, and the main bed not being separate from the mail living area. It just took some planning when using the bathroom. Beds were not luxurious, but not uncomfortable. While the villa is on the bottom floor, we didn't ever notice who was up stairs, we were left the villa for our private use. We were only aware of their presence after being out for the day and had left the sunbeds out, someone brought them back in so they didn't get wet in the rain (how is that for service!). Make sure you read the details about bugs, this was true, not that it bothered us. Nano fogged to keep the bugs down, and provide repellant and sprays, but you still need to be ok with sharing your space with frogs, geckos, wasps, ants, mosquitos... Nano is fantastic, really easy to contact him by message, his english is great so it is easy to communicate with him. He was very helpful in arranging transport, scooters, giving directions and helping us when needed. The laundry service was efficient and cheap. We had a great week, and would definitely recommend this place or stay again if in Ubud.

Response from Nano:
Thank you so much, Gaynor... you were a great guest. In your private comments you questioned the word "luxury" we use in our listing. This is Bali, and this home 100% owned and managed by Balinese, and in their world this is most certainly luxurious. After all luxury is a relative term that westerners need to learn to measure in relationship to where we are, not by the expectations of where they came from, places that their hosts have never been to, nor are likely to ever visit. Nobody else had use of the pool while you were not there, the lower floor is fully self contained, it was the staff who brought the sun beds in... strictly for your comfort. We hope you will visit us again :)

Nano is an excellent host, very communicative and helpful. The property is spacious, has an excellent pool and is comfortable. Although there is no air con, there is a floor standing fan unit and ceiling fan which we found good enough. We found there to be more bugs than stated in the description. Particularly ants in the kitchen and bathroom, and in the morning there were plenty of dead insects on the floor. We stayed for 5 nights, on the Sunday the property was not cleaned (see description). Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
Nano User ProfileNano is a superhost.
Response from Nano:
Hi Alex... yes we have no air-con and our staff do on occasion need to take a day off, both facts being very clearly stated on the listing. This is 100% family owned and run property, and they need some time to themselves, although they rarely actually take a Sunday off. The reason they did not clean on that particular Sunday was because you had locked the gate and Nano's mother could not get in, and she did come by several times to try. At different times of year there are different amounts of bugs all over the island, and in all tropical places everywhere in the world, which is the reason why we encourage those with a strong aversion to choose other locations which are fully enclosed and have AC. Short of drenching the property with chemicals, they are an integral part of this environment. Most of our guests consider them to be a very minor inconvenience, far outweighed by the joys of living in such close contact to the natural environment, arguably Bali's greatest asset.
