The space
Welcome to Whisper Valley Ranch! Venture into the countryside and relax on the front porch or around the fire with a glass of wine. The cabin boasts exposed wood beam ceilings and hand carved wood details throughout. Melt into the comfortable beds and fall asleep to the sounds of crickets chirping and owls hooting.
Our property is 15 minutes outside of a town called Santa Margarita, which is located in San Luis Obispo County. Santa Margarita has a very small town, rustic vibe with its mere 1,500 population, which includes gourmet food, beer, wine, antiques, and more! Wake up and go enjoy a day of zip lining with Santa Margarita Adventures, or go kayaking around Santa Margarita Lake with the family. Our local beaches include Avila Beach, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach and more. Paso Robles is a short drive north with all the wine tasting one could imagine, over 200 wineries! San Luis Obispo County is filled with hidden adventures every which way you look.
The Cabin itself is two bedrooms, the master bedroom and the second bedroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed with handcrafted french doors that open up to the breathtaking views. The master bedroom features a wet bathroom with an accessible shower. This bathroom also includes a free standing bathtub, and the coolest part yet, the double vanity sink is made from a tree off of our property.
The Cabin second bedroom has a queen size bed that attaches to the guest bathroom. Upstairs is an open concept loft bedroom with a twin size bed that overlooks this queen second bedroom.
Tap into your inner child climbing into the second story loft area, above part of the living room, via the beautifully designed black iron loft ladder featuring wooden rungs taken from wood off of the property. In this loft sitting area we have seating and a futon that pulls down into a full sized bed for extra guests.
Our kitchen features all full sized appliances, along with all of the amenities you might need during your stay. We also have a Home Hub Tablet located in the kitchen which will help you locate certain lights, music, and our Nest thermostat to manage central AC and heat. This home also has a washer and dryer available to our guests.
Our Bunk House is just next door about 120 ft up the flagstone path from The Cabin. It features three twin beds in the main room, and a queen bed in the separate bedroom, along with a second full sized futon. This bunk house offers a full bathroom, a kitchenette, and a large closet.
Our covered front porch is a great place to unwind, or just watch as the sun fades to stars. We have a bocce ball court, some other really fun yard games, and a cowboy cauldron (seasonal restrictions) for you to enjoy a great campfire with the whole family. The yard overlooks a seasonal creek, with horse shoe pits, a hammock, and a couple of swings. Beyond the yard is 160 acres of the most beautiful hiking trails with gorgeous views. The rock formations, caves, and landscape really speak for themselves. It’s what made us fall in love with this property. The largest rocks eroded by water millions of years ago will have you hiking and searching for days for new finds. This property allows you to unplug while you are outdoors with nature, it only gets cell service in a few spots along the trails, which is why we have provided walkie talkies for our guests out exploring. We have great WiFi at the cabins. We would love for our guests to appreciate this property as much as we do and please leave it untouched and untarnished. This is something we would love to share for years to come. The history surrounding us is truly something special.
Bringing smaller children to The Cabin? We have you covered with essentials such as a baby bath, play pen, high chair, stroller etc. We want you to be as comfortable as possible, but we must also remind you that your small children must be watched at all times. As beautiful as our natural landscape may be, it can be very hazardous to unattended children.
Guest access
When booking Whisper Valley Ranch, you will have access to explore all 160 acres! We just ask our guests to please stay in the fenced line and no motorized vehicles or mountain bikes are allowed on the trails. There is no direct lake access from our property. Our guest book has directions if you're interested. So get out and enjoy this little slice of paradise!
Other things to note
We would like to remind our guests, that as much as we have modernized our home, we are still, out in the beautiful wilderness. Along with that comes the large and small animals that live here, whether we like them or not. You are in the great outdoors and may encounter bears, snakes, bats, insects, and other critters. If our doors or windows (without screens) are left open these critters and many bugs tend to find their way in. We recommend only opening up the screened windows and ensuring doors are not left open. Please help us maintain a safe and happy environment for all by keeping doors and open windows closed at all time and not giving an open invite to our outdoor friends. Also, no matter how rigorously we clean (and we take cleaning very seriously) there may be some dead flies, gnats, or a small cobweb that was created in the short time from our cleaning to your check in..again this is just a fact of life on an 160 acre ranch in the middle of nowhere. Our guest book has more information on this.
As mentioned earlier, our property is very limited on cell service. There is a WiFi calling setting in your phone that if it is turned on it should restore your phone's capabilities to be able to call and text once connected to our WiFi network. Some carriers take extra steps to enable WiFi calling so we recommend you do this step at home prior to coming to our property.
Check in time is 4pm. Check out time is promptly 11am. We try to be relaxed about this when we can, but if we are working on a same day check in and check out we require that amount of time to ensure that our cabins are cleaned to the upmost standards every time. If there are no guests before you we can usually offer an earlier check in. And if there are no guests directly behind you we will gladly offer a later check out.

*** FIRE SEASON goes from about May until the second rainfall in the fall. During fire season, Our Cowboy Cauldron (metal BBQ/fire pit in the front yard) is only permitted to be used with CHARCOAL. You may make a charcoal BBQ to cook or a charcoal warming fire to sit around and roast s'mores. We do not supply charcoal, so please plan to bring that with you. Wood is only permitted during the winter months as the brush directly around our property is very receptive and easy to burn if just one small ember were to hit it. There will be NO open flames allowed anywhere else on the property ***
***Our houses do not feature window coverings on all of the windows and have many windows letting the natural light to flood into the house. If you are sensitive to light when sleeping, we have provided complimentary eye masks to help.
*** We do not have an indoor dining table, however we do have a large wooden farmstyle table outside in the front yard with chairs to accommodate your group. We also have two bars with bar stools made of beautiful local wood to eat at. As well we have a picnic bench out front to gather around.
