This is an area on the top floor (4th Floor) of our one family house. We live on a quiet tree-lined block. You would have access to a semi private bath, laundry and wifi. You will be the only bnb guest at our house. My son has a bedroom on the top floor in addition to your area, but he is often travelling himself. There is a queen sized pillow top bed in the room. There is a small fridge and a microwave in the room. There is a small kitchenette area in the sitting room with a burner and a toaster oven. There are dishes, silverware, pots and pans, and some utensils provided. You can bring dishes down to the entrance floor and wash them, or leave them and we will try to wash them while you are out. There are two TVs in the sitting room. One is connected to a dvd player and a Roku with Hulu plus and netflix streaming. The other is connected to a Wii (with some games). There is also a PS2 and some games Your room and bathroom will be very clean. We clean the room and change the sheets between each guest using fragrance free detergent. We have several sets of sheets, so if you don't like the ones you have, we can change them if you ask. Towels and toiletries are also provided. The rest of the house is quite messy. So if that bothers you, you would need to stay somewhere else. This is not the place for fastidious people! We have three teen-aged boys and two cats. We are very convenient to public transportation. We are 3 blocks to the PATH trains to Manhattan. There are also lots of restaurants and grocery stores in the area. On the street parking is available, but sometimes difficult to find and you need a parking permit ($5 per day), which we can get for you. There are also parking lots close by which aren't too expensive, but you really don't need a car when you are here.
You will be provided with a key so you can come and go as you please.
We stayed for three nights and the rooms look exactly like they do at the pics. Yeah it is a messy house as Linda has written but the room and the bathroom were clean and really okay! The second room where the third person can stay at is not that clean as the other room or bathroom and does not has a door. It is shown in the pics.
The cats stayed downstairs and if you would not know that they have cats you wouldn't even recognize them.
Linda and her husband Andy were answering to questions and helped whenever we asked for. You can get to their place easily and Linda gives very detailed information if it is needed.
The house is located pretty close to the path station. You have to walk around six minutes and you pass some nice cafés where you can get your breakfast. There are also McDonald's, Dunkin Donut or subway. BTW across the street from subway there is "Stella Pizza" (hope that was the right name). They have tasty pizza slice and especially great soup! We were really happy finding that place after a long rainy day in the city. The area was very safe and even you walk there late in the evening you never felt unsafe or like you have to hurry up to make sure getting home safely. That's very important I think, because who does not want to see NYC when the lights are on :).
The path stops at following stations: World Trade Center, 9th, 14th, 23rd and 3rd Street. So the connection is very good. Here you have to have in mind that the path costs you some money which you have not to pay when you would stay in Manhatten. But it was really okay for us as the rent was not much.
Well as you can see I recommend this place if you don't mind the fact about the messy house! The area is safe, has good connections, the room and bathroom are clean and you actually have everything you need.
Thank you Linda and Andy :)
Great trip!! We didn't see that much Linda, but the appartement was as describe, really close to the Path. The house is messy, but we only take stairs and the third floor so it doesn't matter :) Thank you Linda!!
It's a very nice and cozy place. Linda described the place really well and I had no problem living there. It has a lot of privacy. The two cats are just cute, want to take them away with me. Hahah
Thanks Linda and happy holiday.
We arrived in time to go to bed Thanksgiving night, after traveling then spending the day with family. Linda was a very pleasant host - we did not require any additional services or information from her. The room is as pictured.
This was a lovely little loft that reminded me of a college student's room. It was clean, the sheets were whimsical and the view from the third floor lovely. The bathroom was really nice. Convenient to public transportation, parking on the street could have been difficult but wasn't. Our host found a spot and parallel-parked for me; she was perfectly welcoming.
Linda and he family were great hosts. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it anyone interested in staying close to NYC.
