The space
Built in 1880, Mountain Appalachian Inn is a rambling, quirky Victorian nestled in the heart of downtown Old Fort. Minutes away from Black Mountain and Asheville, the inn is a perfect beginning and ending to your day's adventures in western NC! This light filled bedroom is located upstairs and includes a Queen and Twin bed and connecting bathroom. You will love the view from the large, gothic cathedral style window. This room embraces the feel of a summer cottage.

Guests will have access to a fresh, home-cooked, extended continental breakfast, a private bath a well-stocked library, WiFi, a relaxing front porch, gardens and other outdoor spaces.

We live in the Inn and will be available during our guests' stays.

The Inn is somewhat secluded on its three and half acres, yet we are very close to downtown. While the small town of Old Fort has only a few restaurants and stores, we have opened a new downtown art gallery, Arrowhead Gallery and Studios. The Inn also sits directly across from the historic Old Fort Depot and is within walking distance of the Mountain Gateway Museum. For guests who are seeking outdoor adventure, visits to Andrews Geyser, Catawba Falls, Curtis Creek, and Point Lookout are great points of interest for bikers and hikers.

There is no public transit in town; however, the Inn is located one half mile off of Interstate 40 and directly on Highway 70.

Guest access
Guests will have access to an extended continental breakfast, private baths, a relaxing front porch, gardens and other outdoor spaces. You can also enjoy a shared TV/Dining area that has a small refrigerator, microwave and TV with cable and Netflix for guest use. The bedroom has limited WiFi; however, consistent WiFi can be accessed in the TV/Dining area. We also have a 6 person hot tub that offers a great, relaxing view of the night sky. ( Please note: Hot Tub is closed during June, July and August.)

Other things to note
We are located very close to the train tracks and the town fire station. Train whistles and sirens may be surprising at first. We do offer ear plugs to help those light sleepers.

Our drive is steep and graveled. Our Honda Accord makes the climb easily.
