LOCATION: We are located in the HEART of the city of San Francisco. The location is KEY in the center of great food, cafés, shopping, transportation, farmer's markets, the very popular Dolores Park, and hipsterville with a great neighborhood vibe! The San Francisco Bay Area attracts millions of tourists every year and is known for its varied cuisine, panoramic views, scenic drives, music, museums, and especially for its diverse, cosmopolitan population.

TRANSPORTATION: MUNI, BART, Golden Gate Transit: San Francisco public transportation is world class, just like the city itself. You can get just about anywhere in the SF Bay Area on the public transit system. Just ask and I'll let you know how to get there, but in any case maps will be provided! Cars can also easily be rented from nearby car rental agencies. The Old Fashioned Street Car runs right out in front. The J Church runs on the cross street Church. There's the K L M T underground subway lines within a few block radius and the 22 and 33 bus lines one block away in either direction.

A taxi from the airport is approximately $40 -$50 one way depending how much you tip.
2 Hour Street Parking is available M-F. Evenings & weekends there's no time limit, but check signs for street cleaning.

CLIMATE & WEATHER: As Mark Twain once said" The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." Which doesn't mean that we don't have good weather or warm days, but the best policy is: if you're prepared for the worst, then you'll always be pleasantly surprised! It's just gets really windy as the day progresses and we are known for relentless fog, but more so if you're staying near the coast. Don't go toward the beach unless it's really really hot and you'll be OK I promise! Always pack an umbrella, a windbreaker and a few extra long-sleeved, layers just to be on the safe side! The neighboring, Dolores Park is actually our "urban beach" anyway because it's a big, huge park with a whole lot of activities for the whole family from soccer, tennis, basketball, and a playground for the little-ones to live performances, festivals, and concerts or just plain old partying, bbq's and having a great time with a group of friends on a beautiful day :)

You can pick up a free SF Weekly or SF Guardian newspaper on just about any corner in the city to find out about night life or online to find a variety of events info as well. There are more than plenty of diverse cultural events, music, art, dance, open mikes, sports, nature/outdoor, nightlife, etc. and there is something here for everybody! SF is a very vibrant, cosmopolitan and internationally recognized city for it's array of cultural diversity, architecture, unique history and of course, liberal politics. (*Just a side note: our neighbor, Dennis Peron, an activist and former partner of Harvey Milk who lives a few doors down with the Buddha painted on his garage door, authored Proposition 215: medical marijuana fyi :-) Tours can be arranged of his very "San Francisco style" home. He was also featured in the film "Milk' with Sean Penn, who also lives in the North Bay among other actors such as Robin Williams and Creator of Star Wars- George Lucas).

Within a short walking distance, there is an array of international cuisines to choose from at affordable prices. Please see our Guidebook for more info! You name it we've got it from Italian, Vietnamese, Mexican, Spanish, Mediterranean, Burmese, Vegan/Vegetarian, Indian, Thai, French, Cuban, to food trucks, smoothies stands, raw health food and many small independently owned gourmet deli markets and cafés, farmer's markets as well as large commercial supermarkets.

Extended Stay Rates may be available upon request.

  • Such a beautiful place to stay right in the castro in San Francisco! Monika was our host while we were there and oh my gosh, what a lovely person! We adored her and absolutely loved our time there. There is everything you could possibly want and need and the room is so gorgeous and welcoming and bohemian. Thanks for truly making it such a beautiful comforting home for us and really giving us the best possible experience!!

  • Christina's place is fantastic! This is my second time staying there, and it is always such a great experience! Her entire home is so charming, and I love the sunny guest room with a beautiful view of the garden and the hillside. Christina herself is very accommodating and communicative. The urban oasis continues to be my favorite place to stay in SF

  • I really loved my time in San Francisco. A home away from home experience......peaceful house, gorgeous room, comfortable bed, close to everything. Sad I never met Xtina, but Hector was a most gracious host, I even got to see his wonderful band at Sol Food in San Rafael. Awesome! Thank you! XO

  • My stay at the urban oasis in San Francisco was fantastic. Lovely home and we felt very welcome. The location is excellent and easily accessible by public transport or cab. Close to the Castro and easy to get to the airport also!

Thanks again for the great accommodation

  • Well, I don't even know where to start with praise :) I stayed at Christina and Hectors for 4 days and I found it a wonderful experience. Christina was out of town at the time but Hector was a great host, welcoming and helpful and he was there at the appointed time. Moreover, both Christina and Hector were very responsive via email. As a side note, Hector even entrusted me with their personal bike which I found a very special gesture.

About the place itself: The location is great, at the heart of the mission, conveniently located to public transport, the Dolores park and the Castro. The mission is a great and lively district by itself with lots of boutiques, bars and restaurants (excellent Mexican food!). The room I stayed in was wonderful and the word Oasis describes it perfectly. It was colorful, peaceful, spacious and had a nice view, better than any hotel room. Also the kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom was small but sufficient. All in all the place felt very cosy, colorful and warm and it was a pleasure to stay there. If I return to San Francisco, the Urban Oasis will definitely again be my top (website hidden): For those of you wondering how long it takes to get downtown, there is frequent (every 10-20 mins or so) trams (line J) to the city center that take about 13 minutes to get there.

  • Me and my friend Nuno stay at Original Urban Oasis for 6 days, and we LOVE IT!!! :) everything was perfect with the room, and with the house. Christina and Hector are great hosts, very friendly with the guests, a really familiar environment and they're always around if you need anything!
The place is located in Mission, a very nice neighbourhood with a lot of bars, restaurants and things to do. There are buses and metro to everywhere. We hope to go back anytime soon. :)
Thank you again Christina & Hector - San Francisco 4 Life!!!

  • I spent one month at Xtina's, and it was an awesome stay. The room is bright and colorful, not to mention really comfortable, with a nice view on the twin peaks. The neighborhood (the Mission at Church and 17th, next to the Castro) is great, with lots of nice coffee shops and everything you need.

The best part of the stay was how friendly Xtina is. It felt like staying at an old friend's place! I totally recommend the Urban Oasis.

  • Christina, thank you to you and Hector for opening your serene home to me. It was a pleasure to get to know you.

Overall, the space is clean and comfortable and is centrally located to explore the city. The apartment has other rooms available for rent, so please note that there may be other guests staying there as well during your stay. The amenities were very basic, but I felt a fair offering for the pricing.

    Thank you.

  • Christina and Hector were truly great hosts. The room is beautiful, welcoming and comfortable - with a nice view too. Loved the neighbourhood; getting round was easy and Christina was always happy to provide tourist suggestions and recommendations. Sadly I didn't have time to join them for a house dinner, but the kitchen always smelled amazing - so I suggest you accept if given the invitation!
I'd absolutely stay there again next time I visit!

  • Christina was an absolute delight! Although I only had the pleasure of meeting her once (I was in SF for business), she was such a gracious host. In fact, my flight got in late and she stayed up to ensure I arrived safely to her place, The Original Urban Oasis SF. Furthermore, she let me check out a couple hours late at no extra charge.

I also loved the location - dead centre, right in between the Mission and the Castro. I'd walk to the BART every morning, it's about a ten minute walk. The apartment is also about three blocks away from my favourite park in the city, Dolores Park. One of the best parts of the trip was grabbing a croissant from Tartine Bakery and sitting in Dolores Park - talk about a picture perfect view!

Last, but certainly not least, the room was as advertised! There was no unexpected surprises.

I highly recommend this place, and will re-book if I'm ever in SF again!

I have been living in the beautiful, diverse, cosmopolitan city of San Francisco for over 17 years. I am a proud, California native and have been living in my funky SF flat for over a decade now. I am a lover of arts & culture, in particular, Caribbean music, dance and cuisine. My partner was born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. He is a gifted musician, teacher and chef. With his original, traditional and popular sound, he leads his own band called La Mixta Criolla, which you can find on itunes. We love meeting and hosting people from all over the world. Since 2010, we have hosted more than 200 guests from more than 20 different countries. We truly appreciate the wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded folks and create amazing connections from all over the globe! In addition to being a superhost, last year I was featured in Airbnb's 'Why Host' Campaign on Airbnb tv, and was recently interviewed on the local news for being one of the city's most active hosts. Ideally, we want to show our guests a great time, break bread, share wonderful conversations to learn about you and where you come from! I take great pride in my home and make every attempt to keep it updated, beautiful and aesthetically pleasing for everyone. From Europe to Asia, South America to Canada, come over and experience "The Urban Oasis" for yourselves! We have a warm, friendly, multicultural vibe and environmentally-conscious home awaiting you! So don't wait to book, it's especially popular during high season (March-November). My motto is: "If I can't see the whole world, then at least I can bring the world to me." :) We strive to minimize our impact on this earth as much as humanly possible. PLEASE RECYCLE & REUSE! DON'T BUY THINGS YOU DON'T REALLY NEED. BE CONSCIOUS ABOUT YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT and EDUCATE YOURSELF on how you, too can minimize, lessen your carbon footprint and live simpler, happier, healthier and more consciously!!! Madre Tierra THANKS YOU :)
