The Byre is a delightful upcycled 19th century listed cow byre on an old farm. The room looks out on to the farm courtyard. There is a large garden for visitors use, and dark skies above us. We are an eco friendly family, and the Byre comes with a private composting toilet in a separate wooden shed, and a spring fed water supply just outside.Think of it as cosy camping in a stone tent.

Location

Northumberland, England, United Kingdom

The area is ideal for skywatchers and nature lovers, there are wide, open, dark skies and we have red squirrels, barn owls, bats, deer, buzzards and kites close by. We are close to Chillingham, Bamburgh and Alnwick castles, and also to Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands. The Cheviots provide a wealth of walks, and we are just off St Cuthberts Way and The Sandstone Way cycle route, so it's an ideal overnight stop. The farm is between the Cheviot hills and the sea, with easy access to both. We are 2 miles from Chatton , which has an excellent gastropub and delightful village shop, and just 3 miles from Wooler, with a range of shops and a supermarket. There is also a delightful ice cream parlour.

My partner Tim and I moved here in 2018, after about 30 years teaching. We fell in love with the fantastic views, peace and quiet and beautiful countryside and felt we wanted to share it.
