This was one of the most homey stays of our 3-week vacation (10 days on the Big Island). The house was well-equipped with modern amenities and just emanated comfort. Our welcome package was happily received and communication with Kristin was smooth as possible.
In addition, the location was conveniently situated near our destinations (Volcano National Park and Pahoa). We also loved that it was definitely hidden away from the popular stay locations. Made this property feel more private, and inviting after a long trip of sharing the beauty of select Hawaiian spots with thousands of other visitors (Spring Break for most of
Mainland during beginning of our trip).
Conclusively, we loved this location and it's warm hearth nestled near the volcano. Moreover, we'd definitely recommend it to others.
Kristin's hideaway is better than described. After a long hike or a long drive, it was wonderful to come to a house that was welcoming in every way. Put simply, her house is magical, and represents the subtle and understated beauty of Volcanoes. It's only a 5 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park and just a few minutes to restaurants and amenities. My family and I will be back.
It's such an amazing place to stay! Had everything you needed to plan your trip and then some. Just wished we had more time.. Felt like a home away from home, it was only a 5 minute drive from the Hawaii volcanoes national park which made it super accessible and very convenient.
Kristin is a consummate host. The home was clean, the welcome basket was, well, welcomed, and this was a nice place to come to after a busy day at Volcanoes National Park. Thanks so much!
This place is HUGE (compared to what I thought it would be) and so ridiculously clean. Kristin left a basket of goodies that put a smile on my face from ear to ear! It was like having the cleanliness of a hotel (ok, let's be real....way more cleanliness than a hotel) with all the comforts of home.
My only regret was that I didn't have a longer time to spend here.
The welcome package consisted of fresh island fruit, a calendar, postcard, coffee, and water. It was a nice welcome. The home is very nice and the location is great!
Kris and Mike have a very lovely and welcoming home. We did not get to meet them but we did have a nice gift basket (coffee, chocolate and fruits!!) and note welcoming us. We were not there very much but after two long days of day tripping it was a really nice treat to come back to their house and unwind. Overall, it was among the most positive experiences we've had.
I am a local country girl that enjoys a good laugh! I enjoy spending quality time with my horses here at the ranch. My passion for horses started at the age of 5, when my dad put me on my first horse. It was love at first sight & it has been an awesome journey..
I moved to Arizona for 3 years to pursue my riding career. I was fortunate to meet some awesome people that changed my life forever. I was able to bring that knowledge back home with me, along with a ton of life experiences!!
I love meeting new people & listening to their stories. That is why I decided to open Halias Hideaway (named after my grandma Halia)..
